It says Eight Bit. Is that good or bad?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eight_Bit_(studio)
I've only watched IS and Evol from over a decade ago, but those were animated well (albeit CG-mecha-heavy). Never watched Mahouka or Slime Tensei, although both are/were pretty popular.
>Hayamin as Siasha
YES
The designs don't seem to be emulating the manga art style, unfortunately. Need a frontal shot of Siasha to judge further.

I still like the manga artstyle more, but this looks... serviceable. Zig might take more getting-used-to, ironically. The voices are perfect though.

Beast Tamer did that, although it's easy to understand why given that the charger designs in the LN have a ton of frills that would have been needlessly difficult to animate in a low-budget, single cour isekai. Also every version of it sucks ass so it's not like it matters. But the dragon bitch was REALLY hot in the LNs.

It's not terrible per se, but the eyes look smallish in the continuously oval head (kinda like Frieren's style), and it's a zooming shot into the face as her hair blows around, emphasizing the head shape underneath, all while she has that intense stare. You get kind of a jumpscare effect with a visceral NOT MUH SIASHA if you were used to the cute manga style.

Here dere is adorable and sometimes she's surprisingly agressive with him, but in a very innocent way. And yes, the moments where he's surprised because he catches himself being extra involved with her, or surprisingly effected by something she does, are nice.

>start off as an interesting vagabond story
>immediately transition to a native isekai where magic is common, no one cares about witches, and everyone's an adventurer
At least Zig is still a mercenary. I thought he was going to become an adventurer too.
>>
>>287483793
That would defeat the point of the title if he was an adventurer (and no one would give a shit about this series). The guild/adventurer shit alone made me want to drop the series in the first place (especially with the amount of autists within the guild).
>>
>>
Just read all 66 chapters, I'd say It's above average. The setting is a bit weak, the art looks like your generic isekai, the characters are okay even if not really original, the story is entertaining enough to not be boring even if it lacks direction circling around the mafias. Wish there were more stakes but that may came in upcoming chapters they did hint at the origin of witches and them potentially hiding within human mages society. But as it is now it's not enough to really praise.
It's Guts Berserk befriending Emilia Re:Zero, going on a journey to the Dark Continent HxH that has generic Isekai adventure guilds and Fantasy Yakuzas.

Why won't they adapt the good stuff, are they afraid to fuck it up. Low efforts adaptations are not worth it when the manga are already excellent.
>>
>>287484961
Why would you wish for a shitty anime adaptation? Only normalfags wish for trash like this because they can't be bothered turning pages apparently so they'd rather have shittier art with random ugly cg and slower pacing because it's easier for them to consume the product when it's visual slop.
>>
>>
>>287483793
It makes me wonder if he came in with the original premise and the editors immediately bullied him into making it super generic high fantasy or if he wanted to do the generic high fantasy all along and he pulled a bait and switch on the editors. Either way it's a shame because the main characters have a nice dynamic, but it feels kinda wasted on adventurer guild autism. Not that it's the worst adventure guild autism I've read by a long shot, but still.

Another fantasy series adaptation? Cool.
If we're talking about fantasy series, I'm still salty we only got the first two books of The Beast Player adapted into anime and not the rest. Same for Moribito. Why can't fantasy series get good adaptations? I wonder when The Dragon's Daughter will get an anime adaptation we already got one for Yatagarasu.

What's the point of physical reinforcement magic if some guy with no mana can surpass it by regularly working out?
>>
>>
>>287492905
Not really, they seem physically and temperamentally human other than having stronger magic and longer lifespan. Siasha's totally easy to get along with if you aren't an asshole.

When it comes to this Zig is clearly genetically gifted. Additionally, from an early age, he had a life that has built him towards it, and on top of both of those things he purposefully for them. He's got all the three major aspects, other might have one or two of these. Kind of like how modern elite athletes compete at a level where you need to be gifted with both natural talent, genetic potential and also be exceptionally trained
>>287493757
Isana a cute.
>>
>>287493712
>Siasha's totally easy to get along with if you aren't an asshole.
Yeah, but that's because she wants to get along with people and wants to integrate. She doesn't really feel an internal inhibition to causing harm or murder like a normal human would which is why she has to make an active effort not to kill people over an annoyance.
>>
>>
>>287494345
I think she isn't any worse than a human with her life would be. It's not that the witch brain is naturally more murder-prone, it's that they've had to live outside the law their whole lives and routinely kill to survive.
>>
Gave this a read because of the announcement and realized I had read a few chapters a long time ago.
Agreed the tone shift is weird and there's some clear lack of direction at the start of the series. The mentor appearing and disappearing that abruptly felt like the author was fully dedicating himself to isekai vibes rather than the grimdark ones the manga starts with.
Also the art quality has a pretty big slip in the last third of the released chapters.

>>
>>287496071
Agreed. You can tell the artist isn't at their best drawing big fight scenes. They're the weakest part of the art and I hope they're getting some sort of help to improve on/integrate them better with their drawing style.
>>
>>287496212
The big fights are actually one of my favorite parts of the art. It's picked a comfy level of choreography where you can follow what's going on, spot how the mobs are trying to maneuver before they're shut down, and have nifty blow-by-blow exchanges without feeling like a drag on pacing.
>>
>>287495172
>It's not that the witch brain is naturally more murder-prone
I mean everything we know so far kinda points towards that.
>witches are universally hated to the point there's execution squads the moment their presence is known
>Sasha feels nothing over killing or hurting humans
>She's very quick to resort to violence
>She's excited over being targeted by a serial killer
Even the "good-natured" witch we're seeing causes terror and destruction on a whim and thinks nothing of it so it's easy to imagine what drove humans to risk attacking them on sight just to get rid of them asap.
>>
>>
>>287497632
>I wouldn't assume humans necessarily had a good reason for what they do.
Understandable position to take in our modern world where stereotypes are taught to be malicious rumors that come from nowhere rather than collective pattern recognition.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>287497932
Those fears also came from collective pattern recognition. Misguided in that case but essential for survival and functioning societies in many many other cases. Like Xenophobia which is a protection against harmful foreign influence. Given that we know that witches are incredibly dangerous in universe it's more likely to be one of the cases in which the pattern recognition came to the correct conclusion.
>>
>>
>>287497932
People who call themselves witches and kidnap children to drain their blood for occult rituals do exist and that is 99% of the people who were burned at the stake for witchcraft. There's records of this.
>>
>>
>>
>>287496864
>She's excited over being targeted by a serial killer
Wasn't she letting off steam because the guild had been blocking her from ranking up and/or some party was taking all the posted jobs she wanted several days in a row?
>>
>>287498079
I mean, humans are never beating the allegations at this rate.
>>287498113
>"Experience daily proves how loath they are to confess without torture."
>>
>>287498452
>and/or some party was taking all the posted jobs she wanted several days in a row?
That was a different arc, no? She let off steam there by punching them and ripping a house in two.
The serial killer thing was her just wandering around at night and then she got upset because he ran.
>>
>>
Kinda weird how everyone goes on about how Zig is the king of all fighters but nobody ever talks about Seisha's magic (besides some very recent comments about how she manually casts). Guess she isn't all that special in terms of output, but also is at the same time?

I chalk it up to the fact that the manga is all about sucking off temu guts. He never once got bailed out or saved. He always outsmarts and/or outfights everyone. Watch is secretly OP so she's simultaneously a worthy simping target for gary sue mc and not stealing his thunder.

How big or important a place is their current base of operations? That should generally influence the power level of the people in it. The strongest would move to a region with threats and pay befitting their strength.

seems like they're still in Starter Town since they're just getting acclimated to life in the new continent, but there's no reason for them to leave (yet). After 60 chapters here and the way the story has progressed, I don't really see them leaving the city for quite awhile unless something major happens during this mafia fight that forces them out of the city.
Author seems to be in this for the longhaul so just for the sake of expanding the world they will have to leave for some reason so the worldbuilding can resume and the story progress. Seisha's magical abilities are at the heart of the plot and once the duo have the new continent's common sense there's no reason to stay in Default Starter Town.

Nah all fake. Because she wouldnt confess to what was easily provable WITHOUT her confession. Oh and btw those confessions were forced as an attempt to save her soul.
>>287498785
There are plenty of times when people mention her power and are very scared of it. As shown several times so far her output goes WAY beyond what any of the other magic users can do. Frankly nearly as many people are scared of her as they are of Zig.

That is unambiguously the premise if you look at the light novel (i.e. the original source material). The events covered in the early manga chapters fit within the "Prologue" section of the first LN. "Chapter 1" is about them getting on the boat and making the journey over.

He wins a 3v1 by non-lethally incapacitating them while being at an informational and magic disadvantage. That falls squarely in gary sue category. There hasn't been one encounter that feels like he wouldn't be able to pull through solo. On the flip side, whoever was with him (be it witch or some other client) would be fuck without him.
>>287499782
>>287499917
It's very unreasonable that he always comes out on top with how different regular earth continent is compared to magic continent. This thing is doing the equivalent of presenting the strongest gladiator that has ever existed as the smartest and most valuable asset in a modern warfare scenario.
>>
>>
>>287514048
>Non-lethally
Only because they have healing magic. And to acheive his victory he had to sacrifice much of the equipment he had prepared beforehand, take some really heavy damage, and leave the person he was hired to protect on her own.
The main reson he comes out on top is that by nature he avoids having to go against something that might be too much for, and his ability allows him to sense when that might be the case even when he isn't expecting it.
If the story starts bending to allow him to do whatever he wants as opposed to him adapting to the circumstances dictated by the plot, then he'll be a gary stu. And honestly the only moment that was close to that was the moment he got a free meal and a job out of being tailed by a mafia princess.
>>
>>287514048
Well I enjoy reading a non-autistic, non-edgy, strong, competent character as opposed to another edgelord, 'deconstruction' or pissweak pants shitting literallyme.
If you don't that's fine but you can't really complain that this isn't a realistic story or portrayal when it's not meant to be possible IRL. Also the term 'gary stu' is generally taken to mean no personality, but he has a clearly definable personality. It's just the story includes him being basically superhuman. But so is Isana, so is Sia and then there's monsters and shit. It shows that he wins because he's intellect, uses strategy, has superhuman physicality and is extremely skilled. It's that kind of story, and it works for entertainment. If it doesn't entertain you but annoys you instead don't read it. Go read Meguru or something where he struggles in 1v1 matches, where injuries are very dehabilitating and so on. But most of those characters do not have more, or more definable, personality than Zig if that's actually what you're after.
>>
>>
>>287514068
For what it's worth, chapter 1 and 2 are extra long and they run into some giant worms at the very end of the chapter 2. It's chapter 3 where they fully reveal that the new continent is full on JRPG land. The first chapter just feels like an introduction to a different story and setting. Maybe it would be more coherent if they'd done it via a flashback after we're settled into the real setting, rather than doing an immediate neckbreaking pivot.
