Someone bribed a scan group into catching up with the raws for Magus of the Library instead of waiting for 2030 when the official release would come out. Dumping chapters 51-55 now.

Why do strongman types end up with a bunch of fat over the muscle anyway? Is it just something that happens with the diet required to build that muscle or is it something that helps them?

It's not in shonen jump or anything axe crazy. IIRC last time I checked it was still the best selling series in it's magazine by a fair margin.

only from Vol 8 and newer. This is one of the few manga I bought physical because fan translations were in short supply. Art and world building are worth it.
I wonder if the author likes fashion design, such detail is put into the costumes and jewelry.

And that's all for chapter 53, I'm gonna call it here because I've been dealing with this fucking captcha for seven hours and I've got at least four hours to go while I can barely keep my eyes open. If this thread is still alive when I wake up I'll start with 54 and 55. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll have fixed this shit by then.

The true best girl appears on only 12 pages, but she's absolutely based on nearly every one. The author knew she'd be too powerful, so she got relegated to being a background character.

The biggest flaw of this manga is the insistence on moral relativism even when one side is clearly wrong. I guess the mangaka wants to show how open-minded Theo is but it's just a pointless devil's advocate.

I'm being charitable and assuming it's a mix of Theo going "I don't know anything about these people so I can't judge" and the author not wanting Theo to be set in his views before he's even done his first job. It'll probably change as more violent supremacists and the like come to the fore.

And that's all for chapter 55. Chapter 56, The Sea Cannot Be Heard will probably come out a week or two after all the raws come out (or maybe when the raws for chapter 57 begin).
This village looks to be on course to get turbo fucked between everything set up in this chapter and what'll probably be the third member of the Trine showing up.

I did after chapter 1. I was very confused until I came across an explanation that mentioned she's in the manga and stopped reading immediately. I still can't tell if she's justthe author's self-insert joke, or some sort of plot critical meta-aware time traveler.

>Maybe few arcs
Weren't the main villains a while ago talking about how they hate racism and they all need to wear masks to stop the racism against magic-clankers?
>Only 2-3 chapters is about that
I know but it boils my blood
In the chapter on verification of truth they literally don't even mention the idea of Testing something in the Real world
It's a hideous delusion, and all of the characters ought be shot for it
It was also kind of pathetic when the MC is shamed for seeking his job out of a sense of purpose and responsibility instead of opportunistically seeking a position of power.
I think I hate this author too much to actually read much further, but that art was cool, and the worldbuilding seemed nice

I got the impression that it means this manga is just Theo's biography being told to the reader after his story is already done, and Sophie is the one who wrote it
There's probably some meta stuff there, like how it's subject to possible inaccuracies and revisionism. "Theo Fumis" and/or other characters might not even exist in this universe, and they were just made up by Sophie
>>
>>287489071
I think the context as implied by Sophie is different from what she expects her readers to pick up, the way this sequence was framed would make Sedona saving the world almost an obvious twist. Remember the title of the book is "Kafna of the Wind" and Sedona has wind magic, this is an adaptation of the Theo Fumis chapter.

It's implied, but this prophecy doesn't necessarily state that either of them are evil. Considering what we now know about THE BOOK and how the story of the seven magi is inaccurate but still taken as history, I wouldn't be surprised if Sedona agrees to become the "villain" so that the world will see Theo as a hero.

ffs I'm a massive simp for Sedona but she is a very feminist character
>>
>>287496154
My only grip is that, there's the danger that the author will not be able to finish the story, simply because of the slow pace with the fact it looks like a grand narrative.
It took 10 years on real life to they graduate, and only NOW they are working.

Oddly, the book is called "Kafna of the Wind", so you'd assume that the titular subject is either Cynthea or Sedona, or maybe both since Kafna could be plural. I suppose it's from Theo's perspective because he's the link tying the two together.
>>287497293
It's not "woke" at all. It depicts a society with prevalent sex discrimination, but the author acknowledges opposing points of view, and said society isn't presented as irredeemably evil for barring women from certain professions. A "woke" story would have been about letting women become Hamnas.

I think it's mostly an aesthetic thing. They're "Japanese" because they wear kimonos and put tori gates outside of their temples. It's hard to come up with completely unique cultures, so author's just borrowing inspiration from real life.

>is the insistence on moral relativism even when one side is clearly wrong
The opening of the manga had Theo being all accepting of the racism and classism he suffered through and it didn't change his situation and was shown to be the wrong approach to his circumstances. But since then he's been fortunate enough to meet mostly other teens who aren't that fixed in their beliefs but the same isn't true of adults. I'm giving the story the benefit of the doubt because we know that he and Sedona will have an irreconcilable difference later on, and the leader of the Masked society similarly doesn't seem malleable either. This village is probably going to be my litmus on what to expect from the rest of the series more than previous ones.

>But since then he's been fortunate enough to meet mostly other teens who aren't that fixed in their beliefs
The other teens aren't fixed in their beliefs but that doesn't mean they'll all settle on the same beliefs that we find acceptable, and even (especially) if they do that might not be a good thing.
Right now the library alliance is kept together by a baroque set of agreements based on a lie about an ancient victory. It's shaky and false but it's working and nobody's going to war. Once it goes, establishing a working set of new agreements that bring in existing power structures is going to be extremely hard, especially when none of them want to compromise, and 99% of the outcomes for the continent involve at least some total war. They might come out of it with more respect for human rights but they might not come out of it with enough of a population to sustain their resource-intensive high-volume communication regime at all. They could lose everything by trying to gain a little.
>>
>>
>>287519802
You just need to be strong enough to overpower everyone and set a new agreement of no war anon,of course you can't just overpower or enemies and make them settle an agreement, it will be all be reasonable people being reasonable

>I guess the mangaka wants to show how open-minded Theo is
It's not just Theo. Like in the censorship chapters, the author seemed to want to give every side it's full due before coming to the reasonable, level-headed conclusion. It's respectable, but exhausting at some point. Still, I prefer the nuance to something more one-sided.
