I am back. In the time since the last thread i finished scrap building, golden bath, cloudy beach and i have read roughly half of volume 4.
I don't have much to say about scrap building, it was basically the same as as the manga but mishiro felt like even more of a cunt.
Now. In the anime i did not like golden bath, when i was buying the books i considered skipping the first 2, even when i had the second volume in my hands i almost skipped golden bath. I am so glad i didn't. The arc feels completely different in the novel. The explanation of the environment, the debacle with the tracker, the fated duel and even the resolution of the game, everything was so much better in the novel, after reading this the anime version feels incomplete, i'm almost nervous about what they're going to do with the movie.

When i came across picrel it felt like that meme of chef skinner reading a letter and almost jumped straight into volume 3 but i managed to resist the urge. The arc was really enjoyable, it was full of curve balls and red herring that kept me guessing the whole time but there are 2 details that bother me. one is more like a nitpick and the other one is an actual issue which i hope you can help me figure out
first the nitpickThe proteges: I don't have a problem with mutsuba, i'm actually sad that she died. Her character was enjoyable, she had a strong presence in the first few days, she gave us a bit of foreshadowing about the killer and her existence made sense since mishiro said 2 of her proteges were thriving. The same cannot be said of hizumi. She's basically non-existent the first few days, she has a screaming match with airi, dies off-screen and came out of nowhere since kyara explicitly mentions how she killed everyone i all of her games with the only exception being moegi. This can be handwaved in multiple ways and like i mentioned, she does nothing so it doesn't matter all that much
I'm reaching the character limit so i'll have to make another post
>>
>>287483123
Now the big issueEssay: When she was revealed as the killer i went back to day 1 and re-read the description of her "corpse" in case i misremembered something. Then, i went back to volume 1 to read the description of hakushi's body. Both were horribly mutilated but the main difference is that hakushi still had her limbs attached, essay did not, so my question is: how the fuck did she fix herself and cleaned the scene when she was just a nugget? One of the main plot points of the arc was the short amount of time between the girls leaving the cabin and the body vanishing, it just doesn't make any sense to me how essay managed to pull this off and honestly it almost ruined the entire game to me. If the cabin was left alone for a longer time or if her body was just a replica of hakushi's (she saw a recording of candle woods, she can recreate it) the plot twist would have been much more impactful, maybe the movie will give me a clearer visual but as it stands i didn't like it that much
>>
>>287483123
You read that and your anticipation forCandle Woods 2 grows, but while Carl is busy playing Amogus with the Cloudy Bitch, Candle Woods 2 happens off screen and I think that's a hilarious stinger for volume 4.

Cloudy Beach figure will 100% unless the movie turns out to be a total commercial failure, but even then it might still happen, swimsuit figures are that popular, they sell well and are relatively low effort. Maid from Ghost House on the other hand, is still up in the air.

Yeah, it's probably to try to force it to be closer to weekly because weekly series tend to draw more readers. Some platforms are even more aggressive, splitting up into 8-page parts. I wonder if they have any reason to believe that it's paying off, because it feels awful to actually follow a series like that.

ok, volume 4 is donecloudy beach day 8it was like 2 pages, nothing to discussSchoolmate:for starters i really enjoyed how most of this volume took place in the "real world". The idea of carl having a stalker was interesting but i don't know how to feel about the reveal of hitomi being a player who had her memory wiped due to guilt, another name to keep track of i guess
next we havecity scenario: it was nice to learn more about the industry, i never thought about it but there are lots of things players can't do due to the preservation treatment, it makes sense that some people decided to make a living by catering to active players. We also learn that being an agent is apparently a shitty job but at least seems more interesting than what i do, i wouldn't play a death game but i might become an agent if given the chance. On to the next point. I have never liked slimeballs like keito, i actually work with one and i hate him but i think she redeemed herself in this volume, trying to pull a hit in broad daylight like that is something i would have never expected from her and it was awesome even if it ultimately failed, i really hope we see her again

next upHalloween night: Honestly? After the massive improvement that golden bath received this might be the most boring game to date. The rules were extremely simple, shion wasn't that interesting to me, haine dies early on and carl does basically nothing until the very end. The most interesting part were the killer kids. How were they made? where did they come from? what happens to them after the game? i'll probably never have my answer
finally we havelost and found: short but nice, carl's network keeps growing which gives us more possibilities for the future, she even has a protege now, i wonder if carl will make her do chores as "training"
regarding picreli can't help but feel robbed. I wouldn't call myself an architect but it disappoints me that tamamo lost her... you know...

>>
>>287505003Halloween Night will probably benefit from being turned into an anime the most. If adapted well, which, well.
The sights and sounds which have been a delight in the anime would be visceral and really good, but some of the characters felt like they could have done more or had more time to shine.

I absolutely loved the mental image ofstaring into Carl's Cosplay Closet and remembering exactly what kind of sick fuck would have such a thing.I didn't think about it at the time, but Keito evolving from ass-kisser into organizing a players union mob makes a lot of sense actually.
>>287505003The kids eating the inedible candy was a bit overboard I think. Which reminds me of something I'll type up in a bit. Also kind of underwhelming that it ended with narrowly escaping rule-breaking punishment as if Ueno wrote it. God I wish I was Carl's protoge.

I bring you content that EOPs were not meant to have. It's a bit rough, I'm not much of a writer.
Volume 4 e-book bonus chapter"The children of Halloween Night share their grievances""...Hee! Hee! Hee!"
The three children took off while screaming.
Halloween Night -- it was in the middle of that game. The children who had received candy from the players would eat it, and scream as if they were not of this world. Yelling "Hee! Hee!" while sprinting through the pumpkin patch, when they'd gotten to a place far enough from the players that they could not be seen --
"...Aahh"
Sighing, they suddenly stopped.
Then, they all sat in that spot. Their legs were spread wide in yankee squats. They set their weapons down by their sides, and the three of them looked at one another.
"Ahhh, I'm beat..."
One of the children said. It was one with a white sheet draped over them in a ghost costume.
"My voice's shot, doing that falsetto."
Another child said. This one was dressed as Dracula.
"I can't feel my damn tongue. Too much candy..."
Yet another child said. This one was in a Jiangshi outfit.
The three were personnel of the game's management. Acting as part of the setting to bring the stage to life. So, they had no choice but to carry heavy weapons as they wandered aimlessly through the pumpkin patch, to encounter a set number of players in each hour, each time to say "trick or treat" in a shrill voice, and if the response was "treat" they were to eat the candy and put on a performance of running away. So that they could easily "trick" any player that didn't give them candy, they'd had no choice but to undergo strength-enhancing body modification. Honestly, it was a rough job.
But, the children had no other choice. They'd been born here, and they'd die here.
"Hey, have any of you actually done Halloween before?"
"Nope. I've only seen it in comics and TV shows."
"Same here."
>>
>>287506855The children had been born and raised in a facility under the management's operation. Within the staff, there were a certain number of individuals with that kind of history. For the purpose of testing preservation treatment and memory alteration, or to be used as props in a game like this one, the management raised children like this.
How stupid to act out something they'd never once experienced, they thought.
"Oh, speaking of..."
One of the children started.
"Last month, he was succeeded. Kowloon."
"What, seriously? Already?"
"Yeah. This generation will be the 9th."
That was the name of the most important individual in the organization.
In other words, the head. For him to be succeeded meant something more than a new head simply taking his name. Beyond inheriting the name, the successor becomes Kowloon. Much more deeply and precisely than the performance that the kids had just done, the current Kowloon would be perfectly imitated and replaced.
"In the end, it happened as Kowloon this time too, huh..." one of the children said.
"Could there even be a change? After this long" another child asked.
"Who knows."
At that moment, the children heard footsteps.
Their break had ended. The children picked up their weapons, walked, and faced the player who'd made those footsteps.
It was a player who looked like a ghost. "Trick... Or... Treat", one of the children said in a shrill voice.

>>286172015Vol 2 Extra: Yuuki's Agent Plays a Game
Late at night, deep in the mountains.
A single car is stopped. A vehicle so dark it just might vanish into the night. In the driver's seat, the player with an appearance just like a ghost -- her agent.
The agent looked through the rear view mirror. In the back seat, a man was visible. His hands and feet were bound, mouth covered, and he was laid on his side. Though he seemed to be conscious, he didn't make the slightest movement. At first he had struggled and tried to break free, but by now he'd become quiet. Perhaps he'd come to accept the fate that laid before him.
The man was the agent's enemy -- and the management's enemy. The "management" which produced the killing games had a number of enemy organizations. The man was a member of one of them.
He was to be killed and buried in the mountains. Although there were a number of peaceful methods available, the agent had chosen a rather roundabout approach. From the storage space in the car door, she pulled out a small case.
"Let's play a game."
Saying that, she opened the case. Two capsules laid within. The agent showed them to the man.
"These are pills. One capsule is poison, and the other is a vitamin supplement."
The agent continued.
"Of course, I know which is which. When we begin, you may ask me as many questions as you like. You may even directly ask 'Which one is poison?'. Though I may or may not answer truthfully, my mannerisms may become the key to figuring out which one is poison. When you feel you've gained enough confidence, pick the pill you'd like to swallow. Then, I will swallow the other."
The man's eyebrows moved. The agent continued.
"Naturally, one of us will die. If you manage to pull off choosing the right pill, I will. If my acting is able to fool you into taking the poison, you will. This is a game that tests your ability to distinguish truth from lies. Do you understand?"
>>
>>287507244To allow him to answer, the agent ripped off the packing tape covering the man's mouth. The first words from his mouth were neither "Yes" nor "No", but "What are you doing?".
"If I were to take the placebo, you would take poison..."
"Yes. That is what I'm saying."
"Surely there's an easier way to kill me. With this, you're giving me a chance to live."
"Yes. I'm giving you a chance." the agent answered. "You know, I'm somewhat in support of you. Between ally and enemy, you're definitely my enemy, but someone with the management in their crosshairs, I don't dislike. I'm of the mind that, were I to lose this duel, dying in your stead might not be so bad."
"First her, now you..." the man started. "Why are you able to risk your life so easily?"
"I can't speak for her, but in my case, I don't feel that my life has that much value."
The agent raised the corners of her lips.
"I'm a former player. I'd become tired of everything, and joined the game with half a mind to die. Well, as you can see, I wasn't able to, and I ended up as an agent... But even now I feel the same. I'd have liked to see what becomes of her, but if I'm to die it doesn't really matter to me."
"........."
"Anyway, go ahead and ask me a question." she said as she pushed her hand holding the case forward.
"......Which one is poison?" the man asked.
"This one", the agent responded pointing towards the left capsule. "So, you should avoid this one."
"That's the truth, right?"
"It is", she responded with a poker face.
"I understand. Give me the left capsule."
Just as requested, the agent gave the man the left capsule, and took the right one herself.
>>
>>287507258
Considering it's volume 2 it's not much of a spoiler, but just in case. The verdict arrived quickly. Letting out a sound like "uuh", the man began to convulse. After a few dozen seconds of agonizing suffering that were, on account of his bound hands and feet, unsightly, the man stopped moving. In contrast, the agent's body was unharmed.
It was the agent's victory.
Why did the man choose the capsule that she had truthfully answered was poison, she wondered. Had he simply been unable to trust her? Maybe somewhere in his heart, had he wanted to go to where his daughter was? Or, perhaps hearing the agent's story had made him feel pity.
Looking down at the man's corpse, the agent felt as if she'd been beaten to the punch.

Vol1 e-book bonus: "Yuuki captures a convenience store robber"
"Give me the fucking money!"
In a late-night convenience store, a man's voice echoed.
Yuuki, having just exited the restroom at that moment, looked towards the register. An unshaven man thrust a knife towards the cashier.
A convenience store robbery.
Earning her money through playing life-threatening games, Yuuki had seen many people yell threats and swing bladed weapons around, but this was her first time seeing it in the regular world. Huh, this kind of thing really happens, she thought as if witnessing something merely unusual.
It was so out of the ordinary that she couldn't help but keep watching. The cashier, with a knife pointed at him, shot a glance towards Yuuki hoping that she'd call for help, but was completely ignored. She stared absent-mindedly as he opened the register, pulled out the cash, and threw it into the bag.
After the robber had left the store, she finally realized this wasn't the time to be standing around. She'd heard that convenience stores operate on a slim margin. If their proceeds were stolen, they'd have no chance. As a night owl, this convenience store was Yuuki's lifeline. If it goes bankrupt, my life is over. I have to catch that man and bring the money back.
Yuuki ran out of the store.
After a few minutes, she'd caught up to him.
The unshaven robber was not very fast. Nor did he have much stamina. Yuuki was able to approach the man, now wheezing for air, at just enough distance that her voice would reach him.
"Why'd you do it?", Yuuki asked.
"Are you in need of money? Or are you looking for a thrill?"
"Shut up, get out of my face..."
"Either way, you're not going to last like this. You should stop."
"If you don't leave I'll fucking kill you!"
Just like he had earlier with the cashier, the robber stuck out a knife.
Oya, Yuuki thought.
There was something strange -- other than the knife he was holding -- about the man. Yuuki stepped closer.

He trembled, and shortly after screamed "ohh!" as he charged forward with the knife.
Yuuki didn't dodge. The tip of the knife came closer and closer --
-- and stopped just before her throat.
Yuuki grabbed both of his shoulders.
She didn't use much force, but the man dropped his knife. The sound of the knife hitting asphalt echoed through the roadside, vacant of anyone but the two of them.
The robber's eyes were filled with fear as if he had just seen a ghost. He seemed to have realized that she hadn't been unable to dodge, she simply didn't try.
"Why the fuck didn't you move?"
The robber forced the words out. "You weren't going to kill me", Yuuki responded.
"From the start, you'd had no intent to, right?"
From her job, Yuuki had confidence in her ability to sense killing intent. Not only did she not need to dodge, if she made the wrong move she might end up actually getting stabbed. So she didn't.
"If that's all you've got, we're done here."
Yuuki said as she retrieved the money from his bag.
"You can still turn back. To the world of daylight."
-- unlike me.
She added in a voice too low for the man to hear.
"I brought the money back. Please make sure it's all there."
Yuuki set the money on the counter firmly. The cashier's eyes went wide, and then he made a quick bow.
When the man raised his head, the cashier looked as if he'd seen a ghost. Why, after I'd brought it back, Yuuki started to think, before realizing that normally this is a time when someone would call the police. As a part of the underworld, relying on the police was something she hadn't thought of. Fighting a knife-wielding hoodlum to steal money back was, put simply, dangerous. It was only natural that she'd be feared.
She'd better get out of here quickly, she thought. Sweaty from her unplanned jog, she was in need of some salt. She scanned the shelves wondering which bento was the saltiest.

Might do 3+5 another day.

This was amazing. Stopping petty criminals to keep ice cream in the convenience store. I like how she's faced much more dangerous that a simple robber isn't much. Thanks anon.

Yes, she finished her mandatory education up to middle school and then just did whatever. She tried a few jobs, was always too clumsy or careless or never got along with management, until she got invited to her first game right after getting fired from one.

It's very rough, but here's something.
Manga Volume 3 short story.
Yuuki (8 years old) fights with older students.
A small park, the likes of which you'd find in any town.
There, a child falls, landing on his butt. It was a boy who appeared to be in the higher grades of elementary school.
"Y-you jerk."
While he attempts to get up, the boy glares in front of him.
There stood a lone girl. She was in the lower grades of elementary school, still yet to have gone through her developmental phase.
The girl's name was Sorimachi Yuuki.
And it was this girl who had caused the boy to fall back onto his rear.
"What the heck do you think you're doing?"
The boy says to the girl.
But, the girl does not answer him.
The boy had no idea as to the reason why he had been pushed over. He had been playing in the park with a few friends when out of nowhere the girl appeared and started acting violently.
"Oi, say something."
Said one of the boy's friends.
He approached the girl from behind, grabbing onto her shoulder.
And then..
"...guahh"
That boy was elbowed by the girl.
"Don't mess with us, dammit!" "Let's teach her a lesson!"
The boys were absolutely furious, shouting at the girl as they surrounded her.
They were all young boys, and to make matter worse they were all of the higher grades of elementary school. The difference between the higher and lower grades of elementary school were greater than the difference between divinity and slavery. Normally one would never get themselves into such a fight.
But, the girl remained steadfast despite the situation. Effortlessly dodging every single one of the punches and kicks coming from the boys in all directions and on the contrary, the girl delivered effective counterattacks of her own.

Punching one straight in the face breaking his nose, kicking one hard in the most painful spot on his shins, kneeing one in the gut, the boys fell over onto the ground groaning. Having almost next to no experience with being in a fight, it had gone well. It hadn't even taken five minutes and all of the boys had eaten dirt.
Just then..
"Huh, what are you doing?"
...A group of much taller boys were passing by the park.
They were middle school students.
"..ahh, Onii-chan!"
Said one of the defeated boys. It appears they were related to one of the middle schoolers.
"Listen, this girl, all of a sudden she.."
As the boy snitched on the girl, the middle school boys stomped into the park.
"Hey, you-" One of them called out to her.
"What have you done to my little brother?"
The middle school boys glared at the girl.
But, the girl stood unwavering, turning to attack the middle school boys without a second thought.
After that...
Having defeated the five middle school students, Yuuki emerged from the fight victorious.
Then, in due process for cleaning up after a fight between children, each respective school was contacted and furthermore the children's parents were called in. Yuuki's mother apologized profusely to the boys and the incident came to a close.
On the way home, Yuuki's mother asked her.
"Were those boys mean to you? Did they do something you didn't like?"
Yuuki shook her head.
"Then, did you do something to provoke them?"
Once again, Yuuki shook her head.
"Then why...?"
Yuuki couldn't answer immediately, she didn't know how to put what she was thinking into words. After thinking on it for some time, Yuuki mumbled.
"I was wondering how many people I could handle."
