The flow of the story is a bit confusing, and there are a lot of names, but it was nice to see everything connected

Considering picking this up even though I already have enough on my plate this season. The concept sounds very interesting but I imagine it's one of those ensemble cast anime where things get lost in the transition from manga to anime.

The genre is not really my thing but I decided to check it out because I saw a clip from it and the animation was so good. And yeah, it looks so fucking good, this is Madhouse yeah?

the ep was somewhat better at presenting the story - i literally couldn't understand what was going on in the corresponding manga chapter when i read it last week. now i know there were three niggas, and takehara aunt is the surviving one that's not named in the ep/chapter title

I liked the episode and didn't find it confusing (except for their names, I had to recheck a few times who is who), but this type of omnibus stories clearly has its limitations. I want to be learning more about characters instead of jumping between short inconsequential stories.

There is a reason why the genre is very fucking dead. As in, ACTUALLY dead, not when /a/ says "Mecha is dead" and they mean they don't like recent ones. Class S is basically extinct.

The constant PoV swapping and time jumps don't do anything but hurt the show, I think. I don't think there's much gained from this sort of presentation style and it feels like there's a decent bit lost.

It is a tenuous link, but I think that's the whole point. The story is about the school itself, told from many different perspectives. The narrator from the beginning of this episode is only really there to bridge two different time periods. Also, we now know the teacher's backstory, which might end up being a point of conflict with another student who has relatives that knew her from their time at the school together. I'm sure she doesn't want people to know about how she once (allegedly) drove a classmate of hers to suicide. That's pretty fucking bad optics for a teacher. It could also amount to nothing - I think it's a realistic ending to the story that the bully managed to dodge the repercussions of her actions but ended up mellowing out and reflecting on herself later in life. I'd like to get her perspective in the present.
