I sometimes feel weird being the only one who liked dragon ball but really couldn't get into Z, giving up partway during the namek saga. Especially when seeing how hard people go on Z and practically forget the og.

I just can't get myself to care about 20 episodes worth of magic ball charging where literally nothing happens except grunting for 10 minutes straight. Give me my "slideshow" and I'll eat it very happily. At least that's got plenty of goofy moments to keep me entertained, and a world that feels vast and mysterious.
Also loved Dr. Slump. Not enough people talk about it.

There's many great things that few people talk about, broad appeal doesn't equal good, and Z was out there at a very fortunate point in time. I just wish more people did talk about slump, it's some of toriyama's best work.

I like dragon ball more than z. I also really liked the start of gt when it was more of a adventure anime before turning into more actiony. My only complaint is around the red ribbon tower it started to drag on a lot but after picked back up.

Honestly pretty true, the manga is probably better on this regard because the original dragon ball is much quicker this way, it doesn't nearly drag as much. Although this is an issue DBZ also has.

I still think there are some elements that are needed to be introduced through the OG like the senzu beans, Kami, his tower, the hyperbolic chamber, his relationship and development with Master Roshi, Bulma, Krilin, Chichi, etc. Even the Dragon Balls themselves. Not that I expect anybody not to know what they are, but if I were a kid and started only on DBZ I would probably be confused, I'm thankful for that that when I was little I started on DB.
