Dream ranker was all right. It was good to see scavengers' bum asses again and the kaiju fight was cool. Jailbreaker started kind of boring, and I knew the second that dragon appeared that this would not have a satisfying ending. I just enjoyed getting a bit more of the dragons. First year arc was painfully slow in both progression and release, had very few older characters that I could at least latch onto while getting introduced to these new ones (including the fucking main character of the spin off), and didn't even have a cool giant monster. It really was the clone thing that made Misaki freak out at her and Mikoto is pretty easy going if you aren't an asshole, she was originally trying to make friends with her. There doesn't seem to actually be any particular trait Misaki dislikes about Mikoto that she doesn't like in other people.
At current, Misaki has stopped blaming Mikoto for Dolly but is proud to admit it, Mikoto is just confused by this subtle shift in Misaki towards reconciling and 75% of their arguing seems to be running on fumes from when they really hated each other and 25% liking the same boy. NT18 when they wanted to blow through the Windowless Buildings defenses with the liquid-proof Railgun that used both Mikoto and Misaki's powers but to do it Mikoto needed to let Misaki in. Mikoto just couldn't let Misaki through the subconscious barrier because she didn't trust her.
The phrase that let her through was Mikoto asking "Are you worried about that idiot?" which is just so anti-climactic with all the history built up. It really feels like admitting that she hated her because of what happened with Dolly should have been the big trust moment. A moment where Misaki who had been jerking Mikoto around endlessly finally admitted the reason why.
Instead they not only used it on a Kamijou thing, but not even a good Kamijou thing like telling Mikoto about the whistle and the memories. It was a really lame moment that really should have gone to Dolly.

It’s not as though Railgun Daihaisei has much to do with its counterpart in Index (which is, incidentally, a rather weak arc). Dream Ranker and Jailbreakers are weaker arcs, but they’re still good, albeit with less satisfying endings (especially Jailbreakers). First Year is a slog and it has a terribly uninspired climax with a very lackluster final battle. It’s a dreadful arc to end the series on, and it feels as though most of the content relating to Mikoto was tacked on after the overall plot of the arc had already been decided

I don't think the writing for Daihaseisai was all that great, at least the ending. As cool as Touma and Gunha are, the full explanation for them getting involved is they both just happened to wander to the right place at the right time. Mikoto's conflict about continuing to live in Academy City while knowing how evil it is is resolved by Touma saying "don't worry about it babe". Mitori gets off completely scot-free, and Mikoto apparently doesn't ask any questions about what happened to the girl who tried to kill her mother and her two best friends and nearly made her blow herself up. Mikoto also just forgives Misaki for brainwashing her friends and trusts that their memories are now only manipulated in ways that are convenient for her.
