This thread is for ouji and aristocrat (aka "boystyle") discussion. "Boystyle" is shorthand for "boystyle lolita" and refers to the masculine counterparts of Japanese lolita and, often, aristocrat fashions. There is a lot of overlap between these styles, and different people use different terms to describe them. We usually just use "ouji" here.

How would you all describe your style? And do you have a dream piece you would love to own?
>>
>wanted to dip my toes in this fashion with affordable chinese stuff like princess chronicles before trying out the japanese brands
>at 5ft8 140lbs it just kinda hits the threshold where it looks like it aesthetically fits(size wise prolly it could handle another 10 lbs but I wouldnt wana parade around with the dres pushing out at the seams).
Are the japanes burandos even smaller? dont wana import 100++ per article of clothing that doesnt fit.

>>10953906
if your waist or shoulders are wider than 40cm across, japanese brands mens sizes may be too snug to fit.

I always struggle to define my style. A lot of my wardrobe leans to classic but I have a few gothic pieces too. I loved the older shorts and vests Innocent World put out, it's a shame that the brand changed so much.
I got one of my dream pieces recently. I finally found the vest of IW's Henrietta set. Besides that, I would love to find Aatp's Thaddeus vest in black.

yeah, im half asian guy and id be like small or less on western men's clothes and the "male" sizes here are just about the limit for a comfortable fit.
Alice and the pirate's ouji blouses are like, 5-6cm smaller than princess chronicle's "male" sizes in every regard(shoulders are the worst offender) which makes it pretty much unwearable or skin tight/bad fitting for me.
>>
>>10954104
Even if you lost more weight it's not going to change the width of your shoulders or length of your limbs. Unless a brand specifically says it's "men" size you're most likely going to be too large since a typical AATP customer is a 5'2" woman.
Have you looked into Boz?

Such an amazing outfit apart from the anachronistic loafer on the left. This is so common and I get so sad to see so many otherwise great outfits get a bit ruined by these very outlandish soles and rubber looking "leather".

I'm not really sure how to describe my style. It feels off to describe it like a lolita would her style, but since I wear both, a lot of the styling blends. I wear a lot of gothic and classic.
>>Favorite brand
AatP hands down.
>>When and how did you get into ouji?
I got into ouji officially last year, but I've been a long time admirer while I wore lolita. It's been 14 years and I finally went for it and started building a wardrobe. As cringey as it sounds, my interest started with Black Butler. I was 14 at the time and obsessed with it. Around the time, I found out about the Atelier Boz and Black Peace Now collaboration sets and just fell in love. I wish I would have started wearing the fashion earlier, I'm still looking for the pieces.
>>How much of your life does ouji take up (from occasional to lifestyler)?
Right now, I wear it more than lolita. In general, I wear it occasionally, but for work I'll wear a blouse or a casual looking vest. I want to wear the clothes more often besides a comm meet or café visit, but in general, I don't go out much.
>>Loneouji or in a comm?
Loneouji. My area has a local lolita comm, but even there I have never actually met someone else who wears ouji. It would be nice to have local friends.
>>Total purist or open to experimentation to a degree?
I'm pretty experimental to a degree.
>>Purchase you're most proud of
I'm so happy to have AatP's Lily Belt Long Boots and the Lace Up Long Boots in black
>>Ouji dreams and goals (dream items, lifestyle goals, general aspirations…)
I would love to find Aatp's Thaddeus vest in black and white. It's so gorgeous. In generally, I want to focus on building a better wardrobe and get more storage for my clothing.

Ouji/aristo
>When and how did you get into ouji?
I started when I was 20 and spent way too long being embarassed about things not fitting or suiting me
>How much of your life does ouji take up (from occasional to lifestyler)?
I've worked a lot of it into a more casual wardrobe, but I go to a lot of goth and alt events that it is suited for
>Total purist or open to experimentation to a degree?
I've always hated that there's this grey area between ouji and aristo. The 'boy prince' looked so silly on me. Pants made 90% of outfits go from bad to good, but then it wasn't 'ouji' enough. Fuck it, be the vampire prince, the young concerningly black-and-silver-adorned military general, the prince of the high seas, whatever. The fashion is finally dead, no one can judge you.
>Optional : tell us an interesting story from your ouji journey if you want to!

Atelier boz or whatever the hell it's called now, men's sizes are huge on me. AatP is a bit more snug. If your shoulders fit, the arms are still too short. Getting some cheap lace arm-sleezes and wrist cuffs of aliexpress or w/e goes a long way.
Unless you're looking for captain hollow, you can find plenty of jackets that fit well and are better made, for cheaper, and just worry about getting a nice blouse and vest.
>>10968797 this jacket was $20 at value village
>>10968800 this jacket was 2500 yen on mercurial

I guess this accidentally "4 ways to style a red putumayo vest"
I think it was released with a matching velvet skirt, with which the waist ties would look great, tied at the back. I was usually wearing a jacket so the bow was uncomfortable, and looked silly on me.. so I'd just hang them in the front.
>>10968800
This is basically the same outfit with a top hat and jabot vs a tricorne. The normie trenchcoat makes it come off as way more casual (dare I say, wearable) to the point that it barely reads as ouji. >>10968800 hat is corgi corgi, blouse is ozzon, vest is putumayo, pants are fan+friend, belt is alice auaa, and the unseen shoes are yosuke.. but is it ouji? Aristo even? Just a halloween costume? Idk, I stopped caring. These are the questions that have kept me quietly dressing up in my corner and never posting anywhere.

Most of the pictures I have that survived have blocked out my face because it looked so unsuited to the style. I was one of many dudes wearing ouji who just put it on and call it a day, lacking the self awareness to realize that we look like we're going to the renn-faire and not an alt fashion meetup.

I kept my hair pretty short for work, and thought short wigs would look too costume, but I was probably wrong. At the very least, jesus christ, some makeup goes a long way. Concealer, some light eyeshadow, whatever. King Louis would have been wearing circle lenses and falsies if they were around at the time, let's collectively get over it.

Even this guy looks like a fuckin' goofball from any other angle. Silhouette is important, high waisted pants and some chunky heeled shoes goes a long long way. Yosuke has great options. Look at visual kei for makeup I spoke. Not mana and kozi, but Atsushi Sakurai and Gackt, they have handsome masculine features, but they're wearing foundation to even their skin, and subtle eyeshadow or eyeliner, usually filling in their eyebrows a bit, all at the very least. To wear expensive frilly clothes and not take care of your skin and style your hair feels ridiculous, in retrospect.
