One of my many niche Hetalia complaints is that if there can be 2 Italys, then there should be multiple Indias, not just 1.
It's not like China where you can argue for the existence of a concept of a fairly unified State throughout its history, with Hetalia's version being 1 China with many guys in his house.
The unification of the Indian states into one Bharat was an uncommon union!
I don't know exactly how many Indias there could be, but as far as I'm aware, there should be at least 6: there's the modern states of Pakistan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, and then there's the Bengali Sultanate, the Mughals, and as many as needed to cover South India.
Modern unified India is either a separate entity, a fairly young State representing the Union (like America and Germany) (this would make it at least 7 Indias) or whichever State became considered "head" under the British Raj, which is either the Bengali State because of Kolkata or the Mughal State because of Delhi.

Forget the 60s, they were freaking out about it in the Tang dynasty.
And that's more an issue of eternal nativism, whereas the specific talking point of "Canadaputra" or "Canaguo" or, my favorite, "Canada? More like Kannada" (I could be here all day) was thrust into the limelight fairly recently.
Back in the 1910s-20s in the US, the Yellow Peril was a thing, and mobs of white guys were attacking random Asian dudes because there was a lot of talk about libidinous Chinamen roving around the countryside to defile the white women with their big yellow dicks (I read the memoir of one such Asian back in college who ended up solidly red, white, and blue at heart).
What I describe is a mindset about Asians largely alien to Westerners in the 21st century, but it's largely the same kind of meme that motivates the anti-immigration movements of the modern day. It's all the same shit

I suppose. Mass immigration implies major changes in a very short time; it's normal for a sector of society to show its tribal side under such conditions.
