Here a fun fact, this ain’t Nanosec, this is a drawing that DJW did of Red Rush for Invincible's handbook in 2006. It seemed he liked that series but couldn't work on it, except for this. That however didn't stop him from creating Nanosec in TFA's pilot.

Funny enough, it wouldn't be the only character who would, even unconsciously, transform for the new show he was working on.

Now, looking back at Sari's designs from season 3 production, did you ever notice the one with orbs over her pigtails and rounder shoulders?

I didn't think much about it, it's curious to say the least, even if it didn't go anywhere. Then it struck me, could it have been a reference to tech jacket? It sure was in line with DJW's liking for invincible.
