I'm liking it well enough to far, I have watched all of The Clone Wars and rebels, so it's cool to see these lost years of Maul.
But if I catch a whiff of the sequels or Mando season 3 Bo Katan bullshit, I'm dropping it.

Will Vader appear? There's no way a bunch of Inquisitors can make for worthwhile antagonists. There are only like five characters in the galaxy who can give Maul a hard time in the time frame the show is in. He's unlikely to meet Yoda unless he goes to Dagobah, he can't meet Ben yet, and I doubt Palpatine will get off his ass for this. That leaves Vader and Ahsoka.

The show is great. One of the few good things released under the Disney Star Wars banner. It's a shame 4chan is fucking dead and interest in Star Wars is at an all-time low after they released garbage after garbage for 5 years in a row. Imagine if this had come out in 2021 right after Clone Wars finale.

The interesting thing is, he didn't "betray" him. He didn't call the Empire because he is some bootlicker, or out of some other malicious intent. He actually did the right thing. He did it to save his friend after he almost got himself killed a number of times, and got a lot of the officers killed. It was clearly out of their hands, and there was no way they could handle it on their own without getting killed and putting more lives in danger. It's not just about following protocol, but about preventing more losses and getting the situation out of hand. Police chief said the same thing, basically. He has to hurt Lawson to save him and other officers. Of course, the issue is that Two Boots doesn't comprehend the difference between the Republic and Empire - it's the same thing to him, and to most of the people in the galaxy at this point. Lawson, on the other hand, clearly knows something, and it's probably tied to the fact that his ex-wife is with the Empire. It's gonna be tragic when something awful is gonna happen, which came out of Two Boots' genuine desire to help.
>>
>>153248095
I've seen people call 2Boots a traitor, idiot and a lot else.
But Idk what other options there were? There was no way Janix could handle Maul themselves, and how many cops had to die until they called the Empire?

Vader will likely only appear via hologram. I sincerely doubt he'll have an active role in shit show or even something like his appearance in Rebels. And this is actually because of Rebels. When Dave wrote Twilight of The Apprentice, one of the things he originally wanted was to have a big Maul vs Vader fight, but in the end decided against it because he thought it was too fanservicy and that the characters had no history to justify having them fight. And so now because of that he has to keep them apart. Just like he did with Anakin and Grievous in TCW because RoTS showed that they never met until the battle of Coruscant.
>but how does he know about Vader being stronger than him
The same way he knew Anakin was Sheev's crown jewel for ending the clone war. Maul is very tapped into the Dark Side and is shown visions. And Vader was never discreet like Sheev was so of course Maul would feel ripples of his power though the Force. That and killing loose lipped Inquisitors also helps.
>>
>>153249043
Blah, blah, blah. He only says in Rebels "I cannot defeat Vader alone". That's it. They can have Maul and Vader fight and have Maul get his shit kicked in so hard that he becomes a hobo on Malachor. That's what's gonna happen. Not in this season, tho. Vader in this season is gonna be a hologram when talking to Marrok, and appear in person in a few scenes in the final episode to take the matter into his own hands after the Inquisitors fail. Maul and Vader will obviously fight. Because that's gonna be the story here, and not just fanservice.

>Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord has already broken records claiming a rare perfect 100% score to date on Rotten Tomatoes after its premiere and continuing to gain praise weekly from press and fans alike. Critics highlight the elevated animation style and a dark, gritty noir-inspired storyline that brings one of the franchises most compelling villains into the spotlight.
>The first episode hit 4.1M views globally after 7 days streaming on Disney+. It’s also currently the #1 trending series on Disney+ in the United States and has ranked as one of the top titles on the Disney+ Top 10 Today every day since its premiere.
>“I'm very proud of our team as they continue to challenge themselves and raise the bar on our animated shows," says Lucasfilm President and Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni. "They've done a fantastic job delivering something new and exciting with this series and we are all really happy that fans are enjoying it."

From the Polygon interview:
>Yet, we also know that Maul is an incredibly popular character. Maul: Shadow Lord already has a second season confirmed, and the character has had several spin-off comics over the years. Could we get a, “Somehow, Darth Maul returned” in the future?
>“You never know,” Shadow Lord executive producer Brad Rau tells Polygon. “We're just focusing on this one time period right now.”
>Maul's voice actor, Sam Witwer, on the other hand, had his own ideas about what a resurrection of the Sith lord might look like.
>“Clone him. Make an army of him. Just do it. Let's get it over with,” Witwer jokes. “I couldn't imagine. I did not foresee that Maul would have a show named after him. I never even considered it. If there's any possibility, that's Dave Filoni's purview.”

What if Maul in Rebels was actually one of the Zabrak bros who got new face tattoos and was hypnotized into thinking he's the real Maul? Maul in Rebels didn't look much like the original Maul and had white teeth. Meanwhile, the real Maul is out there.

Maul literally has metal legs. So it's gonna be much more painful than a kick with a normal leg. The Dino Jedi guy is old and frail. What's more impressive is that the Dino Jedi managed to kick Maul in the knee and damaged it.

Most jedis shouldn't last 10 seconds against Maul, they spent year doing nothing with their lightsabers but defleting droid's blaster bolts, they really should't be good duelers, excpete for Jedis that just kept running into sith like Obi Wan, Anakin and Ahsoka.

Toying, obviously. He obviously doesn't want to kill Devon, and probably doesn't want to kill her master either, because it would alienate her and make it harder for him to convert her to his cause. This fight was just more of him putting his claws into her mental state. Challenging her Master's ideology right in front of her, and showing that they're weak by beating them.
>>
>>153252703
The scene makes it rather obvious he is toying with them. Maul knows he can't kill the Master and turn the Padawan, that trick didn't work with Ahsoka last time he thought of it. This is another moment he uses to point out their common enemy, how much their situation sucks and how he could get them out of it.

There's plenty of time for all of this
We know certain points in time
>Shadow Lord season 1 is in 18 BBY, one year after the Empire is formed
>Solo scene showing Maul takes place 10 BBY, with him running Crimson Dawn
>His appearance on Malachor in Rebels is at 3 BBY, stating he spent "years" on the planet, and his final appearance is 2 BBY
He has over a decade to become the big crime boss running at least 1 syndicate(Crimson Dawn), if not more.
If I had to make a guess, from Shadow Lord till Solo, he builds up his criminals while training Devon. Then he meets Qira, who slowly replaces him as the crime boss, and Devon eventually surpasses him as a Sith. At some point, he gets his ass kicked by Vader, and to cope, he starts looking for Secret Sith Superweapons, which leads him to Malachor for Rebels.

my issue with this show is darth maul himself
he's easily the weakest part and his plotline is starting to get boring, can't wait for the next 6 episodes to just be him fighting guys like the previous 4, where maul can't change because he's a character who never does, so there's going to be nothing interesting developing with him
its a 7-8/10 show as a whole, but because it's about darth maul (TCW fan favourite) it gets overrated, like TCW fans overrated ahsoka despite it's writing being nonsensical and stupid

I just couldn't bring myself to watch it, mostly because Mado season 3 was such an abortion that I couldn't stomach more Star Wars.
When I saw people talking about Sabine becoming a jedi, i knew I made the right choice, that is either a slap in the face of Kanan, since he literally trained her and didn't realize she was force sensitive, or it just destroys the concept of force sensitivity itself, since anyone can be a jedi if they try hard enough.
Or worse of all, Ahsoka is sucj a super special, immortal force goddess that she can bestow the force upon anyone she wants.

>>153256337
>since anyone can be a jedi if they try hard enough
This doesn't bother me. I don't think it meshes with Sabine's established character well at all though, and makes the show's status as a sequel that much more weird. It doesn't help that I hated how Rebels ended to begin with; Filoni just shrugged and put the story in suspended animation because it was more convenient.

The whispers "KORAH RAHMATAH" from Phantom Menace could be heard throughout the episode at multiple occasions, signifying Devon's temptation and tapping into the Dark Side. If you watch this scene with audio, the whisper "RAHMATAH" can be heard after she massively lashed out at him and pushed him away. The implication is also that because her rage unbalanced her, as they fought Maul was able to look into her mind, and that's how he learned her name, despite her not ever telling him. I don't think lightsaber was literally speaking, SDH subtitles can often state weird things.

You can hear something say "Rahtahmah" (which is originally from the duel of the fates chorus)
From my understanding of the scene, it's the end of their fight, at which point Devon's soul has been laid bare after Maul successfully ragebaited her
The lightsaber supposedly says her name (which she didn't tell him), and he calls her by her name before she leaves, shocked he figured it out

> In an interview with Gizmodo in 2017, Rebels creator Dave Filoni revealed Maul's alternate fate, but deemed it weightless and distracting to the story.
>“Originally Maul perished in the season two finale where he returned. It was a one-off appearance. So originally in that episode you were gonna get Vader fighting Maul, Vader would have killed Maul, and then fought Ahsoka. It just became unwieldy. There were too many storylines, and there isn’t enough emotional material between Vader and Maul. It’s more of a fan fiction fun thought that they fought. The emotional drama was really between Vader and Ahsoka. So we decided to let Maul live.”
>Rebels Recon: https://youtu.be/P-bJu__WXmY?si=QY-0W7qO4klfOvKZ&t=65
>They had an alternate version where Ahsoka asks "Who is Vader" and Maul answers "Who I should have been."

This all sounds like they didn't feel like Maul vs Vader fit into Rebels at the time (I agree). It was Ahsoka's moment. I couldn't find anything about whatever the fuck you're on about.

the palpatine resurrection stuff was actually handled quite well and it made for an interesting plot point in season 3
TBB is a good show, i'd argue better than TCW because it had less lows that werent as bad, and its highs were REALLY good (i.e basically anything with crosshair)

>Did people even watch bad batch?
In the beginning, yeah. People expected more of what they've seen in the final season of Clone Wars that aired a year earlier, and everyone came on the hype from that. But then the realization came that it was another Resistance situation. So people started dropping off, and by Season 2 very few people cared.
>I heard it was super consequential since it showed how Palpatine cloned himself for the sequel, but I assume being connected to the sequels also killed it's viewership.
Kinda, but also not really. None of that mattered. They blew up his cloning project in the end and that's it. Nothing came out of it. So I don't even know what was the purpose of all that shit.
It's clear that they were making it up as they went, given the 2 year delay between Season 1 and Season 2. What really killed its viewership was all the way back in season 1 and 2, before all this retarded cloning shit, is it being a bunch of boring fetch quests and monsters of the week for 7 year olds and babysitting an obnoxious, annoying little mary sue. It was just terribly boring. It was four stock archetype characters from Team Fortress 2 babysitting an obnoxious little cunt.
The only okay episodes were without Bad Batch and the little cunt entirely. So that leaves with like 3-5 good episodes out of 45 or whatever. Terrible show, completely pointless and irrelevant, it was a waste of everyone's time. What's worse is that it killed the potential of anything interesting happening with the clones forever. That was it. This show being as shit as it was, coupled with other garbage they released non stop for five years since Book of Boba Fett is the reason why Star Wars is dead and no one cares about actually good stuff like Andor and Maul.
>>
>>153260979
>Did people even watch bad batch?

Sorta. It shows how the project began for it to be later picked up by imperial remnants and the research further pursued by Dr. Pershing in The Mandalorian.
>but I assume being connected to the sequels also killed it's viewership.
It wasn't. People who lost interest in the show did so primarily because they didn't like Omega because they can't stand the idea of devices put in the show to justify exposition for new audience members. These are the same kind of people who hated Ezra in Rebels, Ahsoka in TCW, ect so their opinions are worthless.

Let's ruin two good stories for yet another pointless nothingburger "tough warrior reluctantly protects a child". That we've gotten 10 times in a row. Awful.

Only for Darksaber to be destroyed a few episodes later, rendering all of it meaningless. No conflict was allowed to occur. No drama. Nothing was challenged. Nothing interesting was told. It was just removed. It's actually insane how terrible Mandalorian is. It's the definition of slop. Everything about it screams corporate, bland, soulless, braindead slop. Once the baby yoda fad went away (and once they ruined it themselves with the book of fat bob) everyone saw it for what it is - slop.

he only likes andor because if he said he didn't like andor, everyone would shit on him
i've seen it a lot with the show, which leads to it being overrated in some cases, the person WANTS to criticise andor (because "muh disney star wars") but can't because they'd get dogpiled by everyone telling them they're a simpleton who can't understand slow burn media and just wants lightsaber fights like ahsoka

disney star wars is crap but the animation has mostly been good, andor and skeleton crew are also good, but the mandoverse sucks
exceptions being rebels, tales of the empire and one half of tales of the jedi (you get one guess which half is shit)

NTA, but they’re exactly right. Everyone’s criticisms re: Andor haven’t evolved beyond “it’s boring” and “Where’s my cameo-slop?”
Meanwhile, criticisms for just about every other Disney Wars shows grow by the dozens from how characters act like fucking morons to how the shows’ events break entire trilogies.

It's telling that there have been actual argumentative criticisms of these shitty shows in this thread, and not one has been refuted. They can't. Motherfuckers really trying to gaslight people into thinking Bad Batch and any of the Tales slop with the exception of Dooku was good. Absolute insanity. Legitimate schizos and low IQ subhumans.

You saying it's good doesn't make it good, cretin. It's not. There have been plenty of point by point criticisms in this thread that you have yet to refute. It's mostly very shit with a few standout episodes that don't even involve Bad Batch. That's telling, right? The show is only tolerable when five of its main characters aren't in the fucking episode. The only time when the show is allowed to be interesting and grow beyond slop for 7 year olds. That's it. Everything else is just mind numbing slop.

I think it's lame that 2D Star Wars is kept exclusively for Visions guest-directed shorts and that's it.

No one is talking about the Mandalorian movie.
There's always a chance it'll be a surprise hit, but I think it'll be a flop more massive than Solo and it'll lead to the cancellation of all future Star Wars movies.

Because it's slop. Every trailer has been slop. It looks like shit, like another Disney+ episode, not a real movie. It does not feel epic and cool. They try to cash in on Baby Yoda hype that faded away years ago. Pedro Pascal's line delivery in the final trailer is especially awful. It feels like completely corporate, by the numbers, soulless, uninspired slop. It will flop harder than Solo.

it's amazing how, after years of shitting the bed, Disney got one golden goose with the Mandalorian, only to use it to set up spinoffs and then slaughter it to prop up fucking Bo Katan.
Filoni really falls in love with his female characters, his ideal show would probably just be Ahsoka, Bo Katan, Omega and the Martez sisters lezzing it out all over the galaxy.
You also know that Devon isn't going to die, that bitch will live forever, just like Ahsoka.

>rushing through five seasons of tv using three episodes to give us an unsatisfactory ending is precisely what it needed
No. What it needed was better writing, better acting, better production value, and better directing. What it got was what it deserved.
