The only way they can get this stuff greenlit is if it's ugly. Which is for two reasons, a flat style like this is much cheaper to animate. It looks a lot like the characters are just puppeted around objects. I doubt they're drawing every frame, but even if they are, it's still cheaper and easier to stay on-model this way.

And the other reason it looks like this, is that it deflects any notion that it's actually meant to be interpreted as erotic in nature despite the mature subject matter. Which was also true of Big Mouth. It means that minors, the only audience liable to actually find it funny, will have no issues watching it.

As for more typical broadcast TV sitcom cartoons, they're ugly because Family Guy was ugly. They don't want to shake up the formula by putting more money and effort into something that'll be mistaken for a kids' cartoon.
