There was nothing about Coyote's greeting that warranted that reaction from Rey.

Indeed.

I just had a Jimmy Neutron brainblast...
They don't know who Coyote is because in Zimmy's perfect fantasy, everything isn't perfect, everything is normal. Godhood isn't normal and Coyote is nothing without his godhood, so they don't know who he is.
Normalcy is actually one of the biggest themes of the comic!!
The Comic starts by introducing Basil, the famous Minotaur from legend, but he's just a normal guy! The court wants to leave the planet so they can all be normal. Everything in the comic is about demystification and seeing mundaneity as a positive. Kat is becoming a god through contracts and stuff, and she doesn't want to be a god. Annie is special, and her specialness makes her life hell. Pretty much everyone in the comic would be better off if they were just normal.

The only exceptions I can think of off the top of my head are Janet and maybe Parley, who actually enjoys her powers and sees no downside, but she only ever leaned into those powers because she wasn't normal to begin with, with the whole 'her father saw her as a boy' (or was it her grandfather? I forget) thing.

I don't think there's enough consistency yet to infer this rule. The people Coyote entered the high school AU with know who he is. It could be because Annie and Rey are new additions, but Annie got retconned to be Ysengrin's daughter, so retroactive relationships are possible but just didn't happen between Annie and Rey and Coyote. I wonder if they know Lana, Loup, Zimmy and Gamma or if they're strangers too. Feels like we're going to be drip fed clues for the next month.

>Janet
And Janet can't go to the new world. Maybe that will play out in some negative way, like maybe Winsbury's family will drag him along to the new world and that breaks them up.
Smitty's happy with his powers, though, but Smitty is kinda cheating, since his powers involve things working out well for him.
I still feel there might be something to this theory of an overarching theme of the virtues of the mundane in the comic.

In the UK redheads are often bullied and "fire head" sounds like some kind of insult, especially if this is supposed to be a normal reality where Annie doesn't have a fire spirit. Don't be daft you cheeky git I'll nab ye in the gabber wot.

We knew that already. And I mean, to be fair tho...
... I hate this. I hate that Rey is being implied to have some sort of romantic feelings for Annie. That has never come across before now. Fuck you and your gaslighting, Tom.

I'm excited to see if Kat's going to be
A: An absolute Stacy, making out with Zara
or
B: An even more bullyable ultra geek than Rey, unable to even talk to anyone normally, wearing glasses taped together in the middle and getting her lunch money stolen by Zara.
These are the two option I will accept.

C: She'll be like Stacey from A Goofy Movie. A turbo nerd who's also queen bee of the school.

It's just this scene again.
Also, he totally used to perve on Annie all the time. Tom knows that's too "icky" now, so this simping is the updated version.
Personally, I thought Reynardine had gotten over his crush-on-Surma-via-Annie thing like Eglamore did. I thought he'd be the dad, and if anything Ysengrin would be the weirdo.
But Tom puts lots of "maybe" in the comic when it comes to romance, including with older/parenral figures. The comic is low-key pervy (which I'm fine with).

>The comic is low-key pervy
Coyote literally stuck his nose up Annie's dress as a joke, the Annies stumbled on Idra right after she was getting her elf pussy fucked by Eglamore, Jones canonically groomed children, and there was a whole chapter where Surma got wet after watching slugs fuck. Low-key my ass.

>She's scared of her.
Zimmy fears Kat because she's a terrifying eldritch machine goddess. It would track that she'd be the student council president or what not.

>Personally, I thought Reynardine had gotten over his crush-on-Surma-via-Annie thing like Eglamore did.
Exactly. This is going against his ages old character development.
