With Marvel’s recent editorial staff layoffs, there is more speculation than ever that Marvel will be looking into licensing out their characters to another publisher instead. Robert Kirkman is considered the top favorite by a lot of comic readers to take over the Marvel universe, but does he have the chops for it?

The Polish Japanese guy is still there. So is Bre-fart. If I was disney CEO I would shut down Marvel, figure out a way to make the current editrial suffer, then outsource everything.

Disney doesn't care enough about the comics division in order to make significant changes

Why would he go back?
He's had his time at Marvel and he went on to be one of the two comic creators to successfully establish an empire in Hollywood and he's busy playing with Hasbro's literal toys to help oversee ANOTHER comic universe

>Robert Kirkman is considered the top favorite by a lot of comic readers
More like casuals, if the normies read Immortal Hulk they would scream buzzwords like "deconstruction"

he's busy with Skybound

This is a clickbait headline thread

>Will Robert Kirkman Take Over Marvel Comics
lets hope not Marvel's in bad enough state as it is

He's writing half the line for EU (two books) and he's also apparently launching other stuff for Image proper. He's definitely not going to go back to being Marvel's sock puppet.

Disney's comics are drawn in europe, and euros love certain facets of america, the wild west in particular. Axe the comics division of Marvel and hand it over to the euros, they will have to learn to draw Spidey along with Mickey and Donald. Keep the movie division that brings in the moolah.

>What if we replace AIDS with terminal cancer?
>That will surely save the company!
Kirkman is an idiot and a hack. Breevort, by contrast, is just maliciously incompetent.

Kirkman is too busy and Skybound doesn't have the infrastructure to manage the Marvel Comics line (in its current expected form)
The rumor for the last couple of years was that Todd was building up the Spawn line of comics as a test run to show WB he could manage DC being outsourced to his studio.

The biggest, most realistic threat:
>Disney mandates that the comic line reboots alongside a movie reboot post-Doomsday/secret War
>Marvel Comics as we know it is no more. The publishing line IS an MCU driven synergy vehicle.

Disney outsources a smaller, truncated Marvel line of fresh reboots to Dark Horse -- along with Star Wars and Aliens and Predator. The mandate is "family friendly adventures" similar to how they're currently publishing the kid friendly SW books
* If Dark Horse doesn't get it, Dynamite will get it.

Abrams continues to do standalone "prestige" artist driven graphic novels for book sales, that are evergreen and not driven by any current continuity.

Fantagraphics continues to do very curated archive editions of the whole back catalog.

DC narrowly avoid this fate for as long as Absolute Batman and the Compacts line do good business
