Your problem is not one of tagging, but of expectation. You want a more realistic depiction of hypnosis when the reality is most people use hypnosis in media as a form of mind control as is, which is why you find both overlapping.

The level of control is often exaggerated, but I still think hypnosis is fundamentally different from other kinds of mind control in a way that's obvious in any image because hypnosis depends on intense focus and a trance with reduced awareness. Stuff with pendulums and spirals are hypnosis, brain chips, psychic waves, and so on are not. You can exaggerate it past the abilities of real hypnosis, but you still only have hypnosis if a character is focusing on something, and that intense focus gradually deepens as they slip into a trance.
I'd really like somewhere with detailed tags that can catch all these nuances. Right now the best is hypnohub, but they're far from it. A lot of their tags are non-specific enough to the point of uselessness, and they allow so much amateur art it makes searching like wading through a swamp.

Oh I hate this in so many forms of media. The build up and story is the best part! Especially in-progress stuff. It's why I mostly just read stories because most images skip the interesting part; I am fairly picky with media because of it. Videos mostly seem tailored for men that want to be women. Audio files are all really nerdy sounding men or "bimbo" stuff which isn't very appealing.
I joined a NSFW Dungeons and Dragons style game that has a focus on it and it's been so fun. While I wouldn't say that I've had a proper hypnosis session I do think I may have accidentally trained myself from participating/re-reading the stories too often. Definitely a lot closer to the mark than most, captions are a big help. Multiple panels are great too, I love to see before and after with the process of getting there in between. But like you say captions can fill in those blanks for a single image so they can really spice up content.
I really do love my pendulums though, I'll blame that on childhood exposure. I really wish they played a bigger role in actual hypnosis though, I always work them into inductions but they just aren't necessary at all so hypnotists don't always go for them.

I just opted to start writing my own. Got really frustrated with most online stories doing so many things wrong (at least in my perspective). for example:
