>Not sure what private trackers are all about?
A private tracker is an invite-only torrent website. Each member shares common goals: collecting, preserving and discussing media.

>READ THE OP BEFORE MAKING A FUCKING QUESTION YOU RETARDED FAGGOT
>It doesn't matter if you use the same username in different trackers, the staff still share your IP with each other.
>Staff is reading, being /marked/ is not a meme, and even if it is, it isn't.
>Don't ask for invites, it's private for a reason.
>If starting out you should interview for RED, rank to Torrent Master, wait on account age, and get invites from there. THAT'S IT THAT IS ALL YOU HAVE TO DO

Join RED, rank up to power user and wait 12 months to get AB. Or rank up to elite user and you'll "only" have to wait 6 months. You can also join BBT after becoming power user on RED, or just take the BBT interview.

>>
>>108595352
Western children's cartoon, avatar the last airbender. Wildly popular with westerners and has a big fanbase. 10 years after the last project they made a movie that's supposed to release theatrically in October, but Paramount can't into security so some leakers got the finished film. They keep having massive breaches but that's another story. The leaker is probably memeing and won't actually release it widely. A few people have seen it already.

>>
I turned down ptp invite from an mmo buddy ten years ago and still recovering from the mistake.
>>
>>108595584
Calm down public shitter. People who hoard unreleased material in private aren't usually keen on leaking it all to the public right away. It happens when they get in petty arguments with each other or someone just decides they want to do it because they have nothing to lose. Trackers like PTP don't accept this kind of material anyway.
>>
>>108595602
I'm a private shitter anon, I'm just shitposting

>>
You guys got any recommendations for seedbox host services?
>>
Actually never mind my question.
Just lost my only seedbox I'm too mad and busy to bother with restoring all the lost data. My latest backup's a couple years old and doesn't have the config so sifting through torrents and re-assigning paths is probably just going to take several times longer than just re-downloading everything en masse. Maybe I'll think about it again in a few months.

gore does not elicit positive reactions
when a person sees gore, they're shocked, disgusted, disturbed, and they may go back for the visceral sensation but it doesn't usually give a positive feeling
cunny on the other hand is positive, if the majority of people can masturbate to it then they receive lots of positive reinforcement

thinking about it, v2 torrents would work really nicely with a hybrid torrent/streaming site
v2 lets you seed individual files from a single torrent, i.e. if you you're seeding a 12 episode series and someone has episode 2 in a separate torrent you can seed it even though the torrents are different
this would be really nice for manga where you could upload chapters separately then have an automatically generated torrent that batches all of them into one
and then with webtorrent, you could download it on your browser and read it, the ultimate site
>>
>>108611849
yes
sadly, private trackers are too retarded to ever use v2, unless pajeet vinnie ever implements it in poonited

Almost everything on Omicron 2020-2024 has been deleted, unless content (the uploaded articles) meet some vague "popularity" guidelines. People have been asking what those are but providers aren't willing to explain. So yeah,
>>108612065
is right even though it's probably even less than 2 years. Entire archives have been wiped exactly due to fags using Usenet as essentially-free backup storage. It's not really surprising the entire thing is imploding before our eyes when an account can be gotten for 2 bucks a month, which doesn't nearly cover the cost of half a PB of data every single day.
>>
>>108613033

>>
>>108614514
A tv with an ip
>>
>>108612751
you're thinking backwards, just think about it
if v2 worked the way I thought it would, you could've done shit like generating torrent files that merge other torrents server side and then do cool shit like download the entire discography with only a single torrent and it'd connect to every seeder of every individual album
the only downside of it would be 100x more tracker requests, but as long as you drop ssl in the tracker you'd do that fine, I mean who even cares about listening in on the tracker-client packets, there's no sensitive data there
>>
>>108614514
I suppose any video stream going over IP. That is to say, not DVB/ATSC. But in piracy terms it's one of about three TV over IP services with about a thousand resellers.
>>
>>108614646
Well we can ingest DVB or other types of streams into an IPTV setup. I deal with that stuff at work. Also there are more than 3 IPTV services but almost none of them source the streams themselves. So the reseller scheme isn't the only ponzi scheme in the business. All these big IPTV providers are using services that only provide streams to providers, not to end users.
>>
I'm just gonna say it, Aither is way too stingy when it comes to giving out bonus points. Why the fuck would I ever download from you when BHD, PTP, and HDB are all increasingly generous when it comes to maintaining ratio? And obviously BTN is ratioless.

I am potentially interested in applying for RED via an interview, however I have some doubts. Could anyone please clarify:
1. How difficult it is to find and upload content there to meet the upload quantity criterion for unlocking the invite forum in light of apparently everything audio related allegedly being uploaded there on day 0?
2.
Is a for instance 1gb/1gb seedbox a must have to get any upload ratio at all, or does some home Internet connection suffice, if so, of what minimum ul/dl characteristics? Is port forwarding for maximum connectivity a must have?

Most of my uploads have been 100% log rips from Soulseek (use Nicotine+). There is more than enough stuff out there.
>Is a for instance 1gb/1gb seedbox a must have to get any upload ratio at all, or does some home Internet connection suffice, if so, of what minimum ul/dl characteristics? Is port forwarding for maximum connectivity a must have?
I have a >1 ratio and Elite by just filling requests. I have spent a total of $0 and I am not connectable. Look into doing requests before paying for a seedbox. It might be cheaper even if you're paying for requests.

Having a seedbox doesn't exactly need to be about pay2win. It hasn't helped my ratio that much but you can see I'm doing big numbers sharing to anybody who wants it on soulseek. On BTN/HDB/PTP ratio is so easy to come by that a seedbox doesn't even matter.

Thank you everyone for responses rgarding RED.
>>108620462
What is CGNAT? Capability to have a permanent ip? From research I have done it is a prrrequisite to do a port forwarding and thus become fully connectable? How to check if I am on that CGNAT or not?
>>
>>108620530
Carrier grade NAT. It means, that your isp has put you and other customers behind a single ip to reserve them. Check your actual public ip with any 'whats my ip' site, and compare it to what your network gateway(modem) displays as its outside ip. if they match, you're not behind cgnat, meaning you can port forward freely. if not, then you can try to phone your isp and ask them to take you out of cgnat (some will do this for free).
>>
>>108620462
I'm stuck with CGNAT and I just have a cheap VPN that port forwards
>>
>>108620518
>>108620530
There is only one internet provider where I live. CGNAT means I do not have an exclusive IP address. It's shared by many people at once and I can't open ports. It changes when my router gets reset too which can be annoying. Even though I have a UPS on the router to make sure it stays on during outages IP changes happen when I deal with ISP outages. In the past you could call up and get a dedicated IP for $20 extra per month but I don't think they have so many of those to go around at this point. At my work we started using residential lines for new projects and they give us the run around when we call up to ask about it. Not that I would want to pay an extra $20 per month on my home connection.
>>
CGNAT != Symmetric NAT
CGNAT is often Full Cone NAT (EIM), which means after sending out a single packet, a "hole" is opened and any IP can send inbound packets.
>>
>>108620634
The trouble is that this only works with UDP.
So, if you haven't disabled uTP because of bad advice, there is a good chance it will work.
>>
>>108620634
Doesn't work on my ISP
>>
>>108620567
TFW my external IP does not match the one on the back of my modem. That means i am behind that stupid CGNAT and I cannot port forward.
>>108620572
Well, I will not bother to go as far as pay any additional fee on top of what I alrady pay for my Internet connection just to have a fixed IP, unless what anon above said that some ISP do that for free at request, I will contact them and discover that.

I have an access to premium (paid) vpn, but that does not circumvent the issue of connectability, does it? As in some private trackers allow VPN for website browsing but not for torrenting regardless.
>>
>>108620735
>As in some private trackers allow VPN for website browsing but not for torrenting regardless.
It's the opposite. For the most part trackers do not care if you use VPNs for torrenting but browsing with one requires approval/a static IP in many cases.
>>
>>108620735
Using a VPN gives you connectivity issues, no matter if you had them or not before.

Another thing is that tracker-based connectivity tests use TCP and give a false negative if only UDP works.
>>
>>108620748
>>108620775
Configuring a torrent client on your home pc with a VPN does not aid the connectability issue unless you can become fully connectable in spite of it in the first place, is that correct? That would just change the IP display that represents you as a peer in the swarm and not make you connectable?
>>
>>108620787
Well some VPNs have a port forwarding future. If they do not or you do not set it up you will not be connectable.
>>
>>108620787
Yes, a VPN with port-forwarding would make you connectable.
>>
>>108620787
Correct. If you are ISP "blocked", a VPN won't help unless it has port forwarding.
>>
>>108620797
The one I use has that feature, my point is if I am behind CGNAT and cannot become connectable aka do port forwarding on my own, does configuring a torrent client with a vpn in that scenario merely change my IP shown as a peer in the swarm or does that make me connectable too? I assume the former is true as one way or the other the data transfer comes out of a sourcea machine that is not fully connectable in the first place and I do not see how putting a proxy between an unconnectable machine and a swarm changes that.
>>
>>108620851
Because the VPN has the ability to open a port. So it goes to the open port on the remote server through the VPN to you.
>>
>>108620879
>>108620797
>>108620821

That sounds promising. I will still try to discover if my ISP can grant me an exclusive IP at request, hopefully at no extra cost, to escape that CGNAT trap. Otherwise, configuring a torrent client with a VPN that provides port forwarding feature appears to be a great circumvntion of that. You fellas have been outstanding, thank you for your expertise and patience.
>>
>>108620851
Yes, it makes you connectable. The point of port-forwarding is being able to accept an incoming connection through an open port which is always listening. The VPN does that and sends it to your client. You have to configure it correctly though to which I assume there's plenty of info regarding the specific VPN provider.
>>
some but not all VPNs that port-forward:
>Proton
>Air
>Windscribe
>PIA
note, some of these are various degrees of cheap and/or pozzed and shouldn't be trusted beyond just filesharing but they'll get you connectable
>>
>>108609030
And people ask why private trackers are private
>>
Have any of you successfully climbed the ladder while being unconnectable?
>>
>>108620977
Yes. The seedboxes that download your RED spam are all connectable so it is not an issue.
>>
are you connectable over ipv8
https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-thain-ipv8-00.html
>>
>>108620902
Most ISPs will make you pay for a fixed IP, but will take you out of CGNAT for free and let you have a dynamic IP that usually changes weekly or so, which is perfectly enough, just set up a dynamic dns if you want remote access.
>>
>>108613033

>>
The pain of downloading poorly seeded torrents slowly just because you have more buffer on one tracker than another. It hurts.
>>
ISPs with CGNAT should allow you somehow to forward several ports somehow, if they do not want to allow you to have connectable IP.
