I dare /g/ to find a better, smaller, and more up-to-date image viewer for Windows than this.

YOU LITERALLY CAN'T.

I will disable that, and it won’t be using the network.

Since macos I can't use anything other than previewing files via 'spacebar' like quicklook.

I just tried it. It's not very good. You can't even make it open maximized by default, unless you want it to be fullscreen, which I don't.

Why would I use this instead of honeyview that hasn't been updated since around 2019?

Image viewer should be lightweight and and run on any hardware, this turd has requirements of a video game, KyS.
>>
>>108613140
Yes, I did. It can open in fullscreen, but not "maximized". I want to still see my taskbar.

nope. get a job and buy real hardware, neet
>>
>>108616230
I have a job though.
My hardware is a little dated now but a 5800X3D + RTX 3080 is just fine on any game that runs on Windows 7.
>>
>>108615396
Which distro are you going to hop on today tranny?
>>
>>108612943
No, it's this fast because it uses higher level Windows APIs directly rather than abstraction layers upon abstraction layers.
Perhaps one could make a port with Winelib, but that's not zero effort.

>>
>>108616507
XnviewMP is nice for browsing albums, but that’s what I use. I’ve never had a problem with it taking to load for anything, and transitions are really quick. Actually, Gwenview for KDE is really the only stock image editor I’ve had to change for being terribly slow. The GNOME’s new “Loupe” is highly performant, I’d use that if I were on linux.
>>
>>108616547

Is this bait? IrfanView is by far the best image/media viewer out there. It supports a whole lot of formats, which can be extended by plugins.
Plus it's not some weird hobby project anymore and can not be touched by vibe coding trannies.

I do, it's easy with sensible defaults and doesn't feel bloated. Opens immediately
Apparently they did update it since then, I just haven't bothered because why would i
>>
>>108617414
win11 "Photos" app applies filters (I assume some AI based crap) to all your photos, you literally can't see the original anymore
years ago I used ACDSee now it's XNView but it's not ideal

I don't like the slopped icon so I'm not even going to look at the rest.
HoneyView is still queen.
>>
>>108615396
I downloaded the linux kernel and there was no image viewer in the code. What are you talking about?
>>
>>108612923
Why does an image viewer need hardware acceleration?
Take image data
Decode to buffer
Present buffer

That's all you need, ins't it? Maybe for animated gifs you could consider hardware acceleration but even 90s CPUs were powerful enough to display those, so what gives? Why the heck would you integrate with the system compositor?
>>
Okay, it is good. You won.
>>
>>108617800
>Decode
A GPU can accelerate the decoding calculations.
>>

Just look at that description, it's clearly AI slop. The author doesn't even have any other projects on GitHub.

Just bad. CDisplayEX from 20 years ago had it. HoneyView has it.

Why cant any other image viewing software in the world have these simple features?

its not as snappy as Photo Viewer, thats the verdict. it also lags on first startup

honeyview? that loads immediately and is able to process thousands of images easily

if you're talking about the grifter shit that OP is pushing, then idk, its useless

nomacs
>>

ye, honeyview lags. i remeber now, it lags periodically, no it doesnt load immediately, it has a delay to display some animation and it has custom window frame

>>
>>108619479

skill issue is that you cant find those CPU topics about honeyview or test its lags (as i did) before advising a worse replacement. that is wat never updooot is about. though, ofc, this one is worse
>>
>>108612943
You don't need it. Linux is already spoiled for choice if you want fast image viewers
