Are you still using old hardware regularly or did you fall for the bleeding-edge-soldered-RAM-non-removable-battery meme?
I still use my X200t when I want to take a laptop outside. I'm also using a T430 as a home server.

my headless optiplexserver still chugs along great
I mean sure I could build like a proper nas/server or whatever but I can't be bothered at all not even a little
my speakers must be like 30 years old at least no idea what they even are some sony bookshelves from a hifisystem long since dead
ironically I bought an S25 a few months back and cannot be bothered to set that up and switch. It's still in the box. I may as well trade it in for an S26 but what's even the point I doubt I'll be bothered to switch to that either.

Nowadays they arent worth it at all, at least not for euroGODs like me.
>T480, ~150€
>New battery, +30€
>Extra 8Gb of RAM, 70€
>1Tb SSD, 120€
>Total= 370€
i understand the appeal but after adding all the (necessary) upgrades you might as well get a new laptop.

>Old thinkpads have aged gracefully and fulfilled their purpose, ready to upgrade to something more modern
>These faggots keep pumping out videos fellating thinkpads and shilling them to normalfags
>Flash chip shortage hits, more profitable for resellers to take out the RAM and storage to sell separately
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I have repurposed every piece of hardware I own. I build a new machine every 5-7 years.
>3 desktops
Mine, wife on previous, turned oldest into NAS
>Laptop(2016)
Random on the go reasons
>Optiplex (free but also from 2016)
Currently just a game server
>Thinkcentre (free from it friend 2021)
HTPC
Why would I throw things away?

for me it was:
>T480, 180€ (i7 model, has the Nvidia GPU too but I disabled it)
>new external battery, 30€
>glass trackpad, 40€
>replacement keyboard, 35€ (it came with a non-backlit one)
>AX210, 12€
>new screen panel with better specs, 65€
>64GB RAM, 100€ (bought a year and a half ago during black friday, before RAM started increasing in price)
>1TB SSD, 65€ (same as the RAM)
pretty expensive yes, but it's a very comfy machine that I use most of the day, so it was worth it. my A485 has most of the same mods except 32GB RAM (bought for 70€) and 512GB SSD, and it cost me 160€ instead of 180 for the T480. also pretty comfy

A 2012 Macbook Pro running Windows 7 has become my daily driver.
This was not the outcome I expected.
