H
Am I hallucinating or are all of my coding files gone because notepad won't open and work anymore?
They just got rid of software and now my data is unreadable? Nothing is even responding? I can't open anything

This makes backups worthless too I guess

I stole your notepad until you prove that you actually deserve it.

Idk what the fuck is happening but I restarted my computer because nothing was opening and I clicked the old notepad and it had a virus like seizure, and now files open again.

Worst case: Your harddrive is failing, back up everything now.
Best case: Your OS is fucked (likely the registry), back up everything now and reinstall it.
Also: If you right-click on a file and select Open With you can open it in a different program, get Notepad++ or something.

They all are but I'm just wondering the use if they couldn't be opened because the program is gone. I even emailed the text of the files to myself as a security measure. All I lose is if the world ends.

Me after I run random 3rd party scripts/tools to "debloat" Windows instead of just spending 15 minutes doing it manually.

AKA plain text files. There are many programs that can open and edit such files, and you should probably be using a better one than plain old Notepad.

Sorry, you'll need to explain your thought process here. Suppose your computer explodes. You would buy a new one, then you'd restore your code from your backups. You could then work with them using a fully functional notepad, or with any other editor you might prefer. In what way have they been made worthless?
