I honestly feel like I'm missing out and I just don't know it. How much of a hassle is Linux to maintain and how well does it run games? Apparently the amount of custimization and ownership you can take of your machine will never make you want to go back to Windows. The main reason I use windows is because I've used it my entire life.

Run system wide updates semi-regurlarly (i do it once a month on arch and my install has never bricked)
>gaming
Press the green "PLAY" button on steam
If you're bottlenecked by ram games will probably run better

>How much of a hassle is Linux to maintain
Click where it says update or write "sudo apt update" and "sudo apt upgrade" on terminal.
>How well does it run games?
Just download Steam and play most games using Proton.
>Apparently the amount of custimization and ownership you can take of your machine will never make you want to go back to Windows.
Yep, its very fucking good.

Same for me.
Just like you learned to use Windows, you can learn to use Linux. It’s not impossible and there’s no barrier to entry, if you know how to use a computer, you’ve got the door open.

It's confusing setting things up on your first go, especially if you're installing and configuring a minimalist distro, but once you've got your build where you want it Linux is low maintenance.
>how well does it run games?
Depends on the distro but in general Linux gaming is pretty painless these days. Nvidia gpu support is a lot better than it used to be but can still be extra work depending on what you're trying to do.

I've been pingponging back and forth between Linux for years, but post-Windows7 I don't see any reason to ever go back. Linux requires more effort on your part but the results are far more satisfying. Windows is like a Honda Civic, Linux is a hot rod.

The indie and retro stuff works fine.
Emulation is also very fucking good on Linux.
>B-but my kernel thing doesn't work on Linux!
That's pure consumer skill issue. You're retarded and you need help.

Not really I use KDE and it just works. I indeed do not have a lot of packages however, I don't know how unstable arch used to be I was on mint before.

Get any "easy" distribution and just follow the instructions carefully. If you can follow instructions you'll be able to install anything. Similarly just Google "installing games on Linux" and again follow instructions. If you get a error don't panic just copy and paste the error into a search engine or llm en read around. Keep in mind you have nothing to lose and you'll be fine.

stallman does not use nonfree atms, he asks the teller directly
no nonfree kiosks, instead ask the cashier
stallman obviously has never used a treadmill in his entire life
