Its insane that this still isnt being done. The macbook neo proves its possible. They just wont do it. Neither will Android.

Yet every white collar job is done on a PC, Laptop, or Macbook. Music Artists and Music producers are using Ableton, Logic, Reaper, or FL Studio on a desktop or laptop. Video editors are using Adobe or DaVinci tools.
You are a fucking moron.

Yea, on PCs or laptops with actual processors that are capable of driving a heavier workload.
And still, people prefer to spend all their free (non paid work) time on anything else.
Keyboard and mouse is simply not comfy.

You could dock it to a monitor.

You forgot online schooling, and really anything browser based. You dont need a super powerful processor to do your UNI homework.. You need a web browser and a text editor. A phone could handle all this. The fact Chromebooks exist completely defeats your argument.

>The screen is too small. Maybe when foldable phones' technology get better.
Desktop mode on a phone screen was always retarded
Many docking stations connected to a big screen concepts have been proposed like 10 years ago but they never got anywhere

Android has literally already done it, it's called Samsung Dex. It doesn't work because you're ultimately bound to a worse software library than even something like OpenBSD
>Oh, but companies would port actual programs to iOS if Apple imple-
Apple has refused to ship iPads with MacOS despite the fact it'd make them infinitely more useful, why would they add a desktop mode?

Weirdly enough, I once edited an entire video streaming my PC to my phone and it was actually pretty comfy, your pic is retarded due to the screen's low res, but with phones having 1080p panels, this is a non-issue

Windows 10 Mobile had Continuum. It worked, but you were basically limited to using Edge and Microsoft Office. If you had Word open to one side and the browser to the other it wasn't any different to using a cheap shitty laptop.
I used it a lot while traveling until the complete lack of apps became unbearable. Couldn't bank or do shit without Android or iOS.

Okay, so what happens next then?
Neo is proof. Who does what next?
Will windows make am windows phone that can do actual windows again?
Does Linux show up and start fucking around with Maid phone tier devices that we can all jerk off to?

Always thought Samsung Dex was a great idea though I've never used it. A good usecase would be field workers who need to complete administrative tasks at end of day... Back to office, pop phone into a dock, send invoices emails etc

I hold out hope for these to come back one day. Make it a bit more generic for whatever desktop mode your Android has and give it extra battery.

Apple will continue to force anyone who wants Apple products into getting an iPhone if they want phone stuff, an iPad if they want tablet stuff, and a Macbook (Neo, Air or Pro) if they want laptop stuff
Microshart will try and fail to make Windows on ARM mainstream yet again, then go back to their bread and butter: Legacy software running on x86
Linux can't fuck around with anything because it's a kernel, but I'm gonna interpret it as "Smaller manufacturers using Linux", unironically I'd say this depends entirely on the success of the Steam Frame, if it's successful enough, most of the effort could be re-used on making a Steam Phone, or a Deck Mini, both of which would work well docked. Alternatives to this would be either someone like Asus or Lenovo doing it, but I don't see them trying if Valve doesn't go first (Which was ultimately the actual point of the Steam Deck)

10 years from now there will still be apps but almost no one will touch them. Your phone will just be an interface to the AI which will do everything. If you really need UI, AI will just generate it for you on the spot.

The uni work that actually means anything requires ecc memory. What kind of retard goes to "Uni" for something that doesn't require ecc memory?
