wtf are you talking about, at least since around the time the Tesla car brand came around (I'm not 100% certain of the exact timing) the internet has been rife with people shitting on Edison and praising Tesla since the narrative around then (I'm not saying it was right or wrong here) was often told in a way that made Edison look like a complete asshat (deservedly or not) and Tesla as this misunderstood hero genius (deservedly or not)
It became so prevalent that the mainstream opinion nearly unquestionably idolized Tesla as this almost-saviour of humanity who was just about to invent magic electricity coming out of the air, ether or his ass if only he hadn't died when he did. Which might be closer to truth than we think, lel, who knows
And despite being the hero of reddit and being used as a brand by the ketamine man reasonable people still hold him in extremely high regard for all his achievments.

I'm still under the impression Edison was somewhat of a greedy and petty cunt who fucked Tesla over. I remember reading somewhere that he later regretted his treatment of Tesla.
Tesla on the other hand still seems to me like one of the great geniuses of history. The thing about the "electricity from air" or whatnot veers into the realm of wishful thinking though, but fuck if I know.
