The whole story with Gaiseric is like beyond my comprehension bros. What happened? Both his rise and ability, and then the relative vacuum he left where no other among the Vandal leadership could fill it... Was it just experiencing extreme wealth for a few generations that made them soft? Franks and Goths by comparison seem to have retained a better cultural fusion of Latin-Germanic values, more so the Franks.
Nothing really compares to what Gaiseric achieved. It would be like Blackbeard taking over the South America in the colonial era by controlling a few essential ports. Then by 1800 the whole thing just gets BTFO abruptly.
