The norsemen were spectacular, sailing across the seas and through rivers in the dark ages, setting up trade posts, pilfering the gold of deranged cults and wicked rulers, sometimes even founding entire civilizations like Russia, it was like an adventure RPG.

>Vikings of Limerick kill Cennétig mac Lorcáin, a popular King of a small tribal Kingdom in Ireland who had worked to overthrow an unpopular overlord
>His youngest son, Brian Boru, vows vengeance
>Goes on a guerilla war campaign against them throughout his teenage years, hunting them in the Irish forests
>Grows up, amasses an army of his people
>Goes to Limerick
>Kills all the Vikings, enslaves the rest, burns the city
>Viking King, Ivar of Limerick, escapes to an island
>Goes to the island, captures Ivar and his sons
>Executes each of his sons in front of him
>Bloodline ended
>Kills Ivar
>Back home
>Invades and subjugates every single Viking settlement on the island, freeing their slaves and taking wives from them (including the mother of the Viking King of Dublin, who had now lost the city to the Gaels twice)
>So powerful that Vikings start willingly joining him rather than be his enemy
>Coalition of Norse rulers send a Viking army to Ireland to try start a second Viking age
>This time they do not arrive at a peaceful island devoid of warfare or armies
>They land at Dublin and gather at Clontarf
>Brian Boru's armies arrive
>They kill almost all of them
>Those who survive flee, only to be drowned
>Those who are not butchered or drowned are subjugated
>In a final act of cowardice, fleeing Danes happen upon the very elderly (in his 70s) Brian Boru
>Kill him, that'll teach the pesky Irish for trying to fight the epic Vikings
>Danes get captured
>Their leader, Brodir, is tied to a tree and made to watch as his men are disemboweled in front of him
>He is then killed
>Remaining norse population completely assimilated
