I'm an illustrator and concept artist so yes I make a good living out of art but I just began doing nsfw art. I'll be doing it on the side of my "real" jobs. I posted 3 pictures on hentai foundry and someone asked me for a commission the same day.

I think it's still profitable. I don't intend to make a living out of the porn stuff, just something from the side, more for fun than anything. But I'm pretty sure I could if I wanted.
The thing is that you need to stand out from the constant noise, creating your own job.
Because I suck at networking and social media, I put all of my skills point in technique, to make sure that my technique alone would give me jobs, and it worked. But if you're good at these skills, you definitely need to utilize them. For me I just like painting, I would hate to manage a community.

Is it worth making a DA in 2026?

Very simply put - it needs to have beauty. What are the golden ratios of human anatomy, what body types look good to what kinds of people. Do you like fat people? Then find the *sexiest* way to draw a fat girl/guy. Color harmony, color balance, shape balance. Is the imagine too busy? Does the character have too many unnecessary details?

Look at what performs well and you'll quick see patterns. the reason anime is popular is simply because it's optimized for appeal. For every extra line you add to the face past the eyes, you are shrinking your global reach, make them count.

You are free to draw what you like, but always play around with it, see what is necessary and what is not.

Yeah it's definitely my weakest point. Heads/faces that is. That and stiff poses.
I was going to dive into perspective but I think I'm going to just grind out head/face studies of a couple artists I like and do some expression practice.
