A former elementary school teacher, Yuji Wada (42), who secretly photographed his young female students and shared the images, has been sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison by the Nagoya District Court.
Case Summary:
Group Chat Operation: He created a group chat named HLT (Hentai Lolicon Teacher) with elementary school teachers from across Japan and used it to share voyeuristic photos.
A total of 7 teachers were involved in the group chat.
Details of the Crimes: Secretly photographing 9-year-old female students’ underwear was the basic act.
He also took the children’s recorders and other personal belongings home and smeared them with his bodily fluids (semen).
Scale of Damage: The number of confirmed victims nationwide exceeds 75 students.

My understanding is that Japanese prison tends to be incredibly harsh and regimented compared to our system, but once you serve your sentence your debt is considered properly paid to society. Americans of course never really forgive you once you've committed a serious crime.
