Not sure if this is true or not, but if I had to guess it might be be because of the countries that ended up holding on to them post-WWI and their standard for storage or care compared to more desirable rifles.
That said, there's at least a couple anons on this general with M95s in surprisingly great condition.

Most of the nice ones were guns that stayed in the countries they originally served in (Austria, Hungary, and Bulgaria) and got refurbished. Original M.95 still in 8x50 are quite difficult to find in nice shape.

Is 4750-5000 a good price on a Russian 1895 with the inspectors marking
Unfortunately don’t have a picture of it but the gun metal looked kinda dark making me think it might’ve been reblued or something

I have some more commercial stuff other than that one rifle.

The rifle (pictured top) is a pre-war Czech in 8x60S, optic is a 4x Optikotechna. Gun is stupid nice.
Next is a post-war 1951 Mannlicher Schoenauer in 7x57. Scope is a weaver 60B. This is a decent shooter.
Below that is a Orbendorf sport rifle (duffle cut) in 8.15x46. All matching, but more of a collector piece.
Last rifle is a pre-war Orbendorf type S factory sporter. Unfortunately it's been fucked with. Original sight removed, stock grip removed, new rear sight added.
I got it as a shooter, but also because type S rifles are kinda rare.

Here within the next month I'll be trading the Type S for a Steyr of some sort. The guy that wants it has like 200 rifles in his collection. Told me to come over and pick something out. I haven't decided if I'm going with a military or commercial steyr yet.

I've had a BSA sporter before, but sold it long ago.
I'm not much of a commercial collector, and I'm just not a fan of British stuff overall. .303 or cock-on-close.

Damn, I didn't realize that Hungary used them that hard. I thought that with the adoption of the 35M, they would have gotten off a bit less use out of the M.95s.

Have the chance to nab a Yugo M24/47 for 300ish bones, might be able to talk them down to 250. Stock is ugly and full of cosmolene, bore is absolutely pristine though. Not sure if I want to pay for 8mm... Don't have any Mausers. Worth it, or wait for something better?

Bit of both. None on the shelves locally, and it's north of $1.25/rd most places online. My 03-A3 is cheaper to feed, but it would still be neat to have. I don't have much surp, but the mechanical, old world allure of a real wood and steel fighting rifle is hard to resist.

Well, youll need to reconcile with the price of ammo first. Is your rifle budget low as well? If not, consider waiting around for a rarer or higher quality Mauser that you take out occasionally with a small amount of 8mm you would buy on sales. Or if you are taking the cheapest possible route, than stick with the 24/47 and same on the ammo, just wait for deals or sales and take it out osccasionally.

magnaflux inspection. cover it in really fine metal powder and expose it to magnet. cracks or faults in steel create higher magnetic fields highlighting the cracks. really common in industrial applcations, also popular with engine guys for testing steel engine blocks for cracks. can be used with a developer and UV light to see it better.

I've been trying to find a 1903A3 for years but all the boomers are demanding $2k for them. I love my plain 1903 but kind of want an A3 because of the rear sight. What all does "reclaimed" entail? Are these the ones that have the newly manufactured receivers or are they original with just a new barrel and stock?

They’re reactivated drill rifles. The mag cutoff was welded in the “off” position, the bolt face welded shut and firing pin tip clipped. The barrels were plugged and tack-welded to the receiver ring to prevent easy unscrewing. My concern with the recent CMP Expert A3s is that I have seen at least two with new Minelli stocks with insufficient clearance around the receiver tang leading to chipping or splitting at the wrist of the stock. No armorer should have ever approved those for sale.

Have any of you all moved your collection across the country before? I’m having to relocate from the Midwest to Phoenix for work and have about 20 long guns that need to make the trip with me. Not to mention the safe and ammo crates and boxes and such. I was planning on just keeping them all with me in the trunk of my car instead of in the moving truck with everything else, but I’ll still be staying in hotels a few times since I won’t be able to do the drive all in a day.

Tuck as many guns into your personal vehicle as possible and leave the ammo and other heavy stuff in the moving truck. If you can't fit everything, you should be fine to leave lower value long guns with the moving company. No pistols if it can be helped.
Don't tell a living soul you have these items in your vehicle and don't be retarded while driving. Plan your hotel stops ahead of time so you aren't in the middle of a major city when you need to sleep.
Do everything in your power to minimize the chances you get stopped by police or stay in an area where car break ins happen and it should be an easy trip.

More than likely the moving company can be trusted if you aren't being scammed by illegals, but it is wise to box things up discreetly.

Make absolutely sure you have the guns in cases that you can put a lock on. Even if they are soft cases with the shittiest $5 lock you can buy. If you don't and are stopped by police while in a state/jurisdiction that requires guns to be locked up while transported, your life is basically over.

Checked. Yeah. That pretty much killed any enthusiasm I had for them. I know the CMP are a reputable organization but they sound sketchy. I was still able to qualify at 100 yds range with my vanilla M1903 when I took it to Talladega, so it's a "good enough" shooter for my purposes.

One of things ive done is stuff things in a big Ski or snowboard bag while moving from the car to the room. I typically pack things in my car that way when traveling from the big shows
