There's often a shotgun general on here. The problem is that there is only superficial discussion. /k/ is filled with poorfags whose main body of knowledge comes from video games. That's not very conducive to discussions about Needham vs. Baker ejectors, the finer points of self-opening actions, etc.

If you haven't noticed, in the past few years newfags and normies have invaded 4chan and caused a site-wide shift in many areas. Now just about every board is literally flooded with browns, gays, trannies, and bots.

In the case of /k/ in particular, the board is absolutely swamped in poltards, noguns, children whose only knowledge of guns comes from games and movies, and foreigners. Foreigners in and of themselves are not an issue, as we have many /k/ bros that own some really cool shit, but many countries don't even allow their citizens to own guns yet we are bombarded with those ignorant posters shitting up threads with terrible takes, troll posts, and completely uninformed replies.

As a result, /k/ has fallen into a state where many threads are posted that have nothing to do with anything other than politics and wars, while gun or weapon-specific threads die or sit well below the post limit because not enough knowledgeable people visit /k/ anymore to keep a thread alive. Keep in mind, a general is a place for people with a subset of knowledge to meet to discuss that autistically specific item in detail. When those people aren't present on a board, there's no way for a thread to outlive brain-dead threads about Ukraine or Iran that people with no guns can drool in.

I believe that's also part of the reason why /arg/ is basically Reddit v2.0 (patchnote: "nigger" now allowed) because the concepts of the AR15 are virtually common knowledge now, and the same 6-8 people namefagging arguing about the same 6-8 topics every day can keep the thread alive. It's the exception, not the rule.

In closing, generals are no longer sustainable in 4chan's current userbase demographic, especially as it applies to /k/ due to the subset of people with the proper knowledge and autism required to competently discuss the general-specific topics.

What DOES matter is your zero, and that changes with different ammo.

I suggest the following:
Buy one box each of a few different rounds you think might be good. Go shoot all of them off a bench. Pick whichever one is the most accurate. Buy a bunch of that. Use any leftover other ammo for plinking. Stick with whatever your preferred load is for actual hunting. Expect that if you shoot anything different you're going to have to re-zero.
