No thanks. His brother is honestly better. The content is pretty good tbqhwy.
>>65216242
It's not dead it's just going back to what it was. Anything that isn't some dude blasting into a dirt mound is an advertisement.
For the zoomies looking for a father figure:
Hoovey Smith is great. Dude is literally 84 iirc so don't get too comfy.
McHughCb is great for hunting videos.
Tom River - Simple living. Great gun content and realistic living advice.
2is1 Gold - finance advice/gold bug
Dodsonarmsco - NFA dealer from the 70s. He's also in his 80s. Insane nfa collection and a huge death of knowledge on survival and NFA weapons. He's honestly one of the last of the OG preppers left.
Anyway there's some gems out there. Way back in the nuntfancy days there was a Korean war vet doing content but he got trolled off youtube unfortunately. Never did get to download his stuff. Highly recommend you download all this stuff because families sometimes wipe the Internet when someone dies and these dudes are old AF.

The acog is a generalist combat optic more notable for its durability and ease of use, comp shooters value specialization and customization over all so the acog simply sucks for that purpose

Speed is a sort of specialization when you think about it. You got me on the accuracy part though, but yeah the acog really doesn’t offer much. Considering the red dot+mag combo, an equally durable combat proven set up but much faster/better up close, has also been replaced by the LPVO menace, the acog never stood a chance

It's a Frankengun, which I rarely partake in. Proving to be solid so far after ~400 rounds after this morning's shooting.
Barrel is a 12.5" Noveske, mid-length gas. I went into it skeptical, but it's making me eat my hat. M193 and 77 OTM runs fantastic. Put a few mags of steel cased through it and it did not have a problem cycling through it, maybe a slight err towards undergassed with the weak stuff. Brass cased factory loads eject at 330-4 o'clock like clockwork.
It looks like that because it's 416R material with whatever coating/finish they apply at the factory.

I need to chrono it anyway...been dragging my feet working up a DOPE and trueing it for this rifle...not that a dot and 3x necessitate autistic levels of ballistic data or enable surgical shot placement at 300+ yards. Might have to throw on of my spare scopes on there and see just what it can do out to 600+ yards though. It's printing some small groups at 100 yards with the 77gr though.
Unrelated, the poormetto k1 was putting in some impressive work with 175 FGMM SMK. I'm still waiting for the bad decision shoe to drop, but every box continues to get checked by that rifle. Looking like it might actually present some crazy value for a $1500 AR10. Only mild complaint is that it runs like an LMT with regards to violent levels of gas/cycling. Tried backing the adjustable gas block down, which helps, but it presents feed and extraction failures below setting 10/12 without acan.

The k1? Prints ~1.5-2.0 MOA 5-shot groups at 100 yards, which honestly isn't too far from what can reliably be extracted from factory FGMM. I've done consistently better with the LMT, but sometimes the ammo is going to do what it wants to do.
That's with a half-assed Vortex 6x. Beat the shit out of reduced IPSC at 600 yards. Had no problem chucking 175s into the torso of a full size IPSC at ~800 yards.
I'm very tempted to throw an MPVO on it and print groups on paper beyond 300 yards to get a real feel for it.

I mean it is mid, it’s a 4x prism optic. Its advantages are having a good BDC reticle with ranging capabilities, good glass clarity, and they’re indestructible. Plus they don’t usually rely on batteries. Like they’re great for combat, that’s the whole point. But they’re worse for longer distance than most LPVOs, and worse at close range than a red dot+mag combo would be

Honestly wish they'd drop the tritium and just use the fiber optic. If they could bundle that with the front mount SRO location of the battery cog it'd be a great setup. $1000 even and it'd be the best you could buy until you step up to big boy mpvo options.

I've thought about playing around with buffers. After today's antics and finding that 10/12 on the gas is eight on the ragged edge of reliability, I'm hesitant to throw a heavier buffer in and then just have to ramp up on gas to offset. I'm sure curiosity will win out at some point.
>>65217211
Enjoy, dude.
I threw the Vortex 1-6 as a quick pinch solution, to test out the rifle without investing fully into it.
At this point I'm looking at a PA PLXC RDB 1-8, the ATACR 1-8 and a handful of others. I've at least talked myself down from some of the crazy expensive options. None purpose built for working at the far end of the rifle's range, but I wanted to err towards battle rifle/general purpose with this one.
The 1-10 options are tempting, but having messed around with a couple on a square range, there's some very real tradeoffs to be made to get that magnification range with a true, or close to true 1x. The decent 1-8 optics have less pronounced tradeoff, at 1x especially.
It's a fun rifle.

>Not the issue either
Yeah I just looked again and it's clearly not that. With plastic handguards I find that it's the little notch part in the endcap that gets in the way so I'd check there.

Yeah, sorry. You could shower and do laundry here but this is a terrible place to live if you don't already have your shit together. Rent is sky high and the job market does not reflect the cost of living. You basically have to already be rich.

>So they didn't resolve the drift issue with the new version?
No. The internal optics bench is the same, its a new power board and a new housing. The rotary wheel is an attempt at dodging contract languages that specifies a rotary wheel to exclude eotechs, like when FN put an AR handle on a SCAR so they could enter MRGG contract tier trolling. Same weight, same battery life, same optical clarity, same reticle performance
And boom that will be one THOUSAND dollars.
