The fact that theologians were not able to cope with the idea that all life is interconnected into one grand tree of life that pulsates and develops out of the logical form underpinning all living processes is such a fucking fumble on their part man. Genuinely pisses me off.

Even Darwin himself almost instinctively adopts spiritual language when talking about it in the origin of species. And they only fumbled it so bad because those dumbasses were too proud to accept that man is part of life and of creation, not Gods Special Little Boy.

Plenty of them did, and Darwin himself didn't think it was evidence against Christianity. He only became agnostic because of the problem of evil.

We're objectively special by the way, no one cares about your retarded reddit cosmic cuckoldry fetish.

Genesis has been symbolical for at least 1000 years
>>
>>25209448
Genesis has been gospel truth for millennia, and evolution has been simulacra for a few centuries.
>>
>>25209231
evolution doesn't need 'agency' gravity doesn't need agency to make water flow down hills it is an inevitable downstream consequence of the naturalistic laws which underpin reality
>>
>>25209624
Gravity is used to explain an observable, ongoing, natural phenomena. Let me know when humanity, or any creature, has “evolved” into a new species. You can’t because evolution is inferred, not observed.
>>
>>25208899
But like... why?
Why would god invent something specifically to confuse people and make them not believe in him
>>
During the voyage of the Beagle, Darwin read Charles Lyell's 'Principles of Geology.' The concept of 'deep time' was the great alternative explanation for complexity. Darwin took it from there.

>Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
>But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas.
>The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because THEY REPENTED AT THE PREACHING of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
Do you see? The men of Ninevah repented and converted solely for the words of Jonas. They didn't need miracles or to see the physical might of God, they only needed words.
>>
>>25209681
The Bible isn’t explicit about Nineveh knowing, but Jonah spent three days and nights inside a whale before preaching repentance to Nineveh. Jesus is foreshadowing His death and resurrection by implication of the miracle Jonas experienced. The sign of Jonas, like Jesus, proves the divine message by means of miracle.
>>
>>25209709
Except you and I, and everyone else alive, never actually saw Jesus resurrected. The disciples saw him, Mary Magdalene and the other women saw him, but the generation of today only know about the miracle through the words of the Bible. So the miracle remains subjected to words.

But man is supposed to be special in Christianity, that's why the theory of evolution was such a blow.
>>
>>25209750
That's pretty much the plot of vampire masquerade.
>>25209413
I don't really see how humans are special. We're basically big ants with more adaptable communication and reproduction.

Not a problem for calculus-based bitheism. The mechanisms of selection and mutation are one instantiation of the gods of integration and differentiation.

NGMI. Fedora tippers never do.

If you had proof that God is real, then you wouldn't have true faith.

If you choose to believe in God despite having reason to doubt Him, then and only then do you have true faith.

yes, how life works by ball is more interesting. but darwin is a classic book that everyone reads, sort of like apher-bethe-gamow is in physics

I mean, it's really really REALLY deeply ingrained in Abrahamic faiths that Man (or more specifically, an in-group of men) are God's Special Little Boys. Man is consisntely placed above nature, as masters of it. Nature is to be tamed and brought to Godliness by man's development. It's no wonder that evolution is such a deathblow to Abrahamic faiths.

its hard for hylics to understand the difference between a hylic and any other animal. is it the ability to exert force? trump is a dumb animal and the iranians are men
>>
>>25209669
It's his cover story. Dinosaurs never walked the planet, their bones were put there to mislead us. The last time we tried to unite, he separated us and created different languages. The tower of babel is an allegory for a spaceship.
>>
Can't help but notice theories of abiogenesis describe a process were the inorganic was transformed into the organic, much like the account of man being created from dirt.
>>
>>25212826
Don't get your theology from people like this. There are people who actually attempt to resolve difficult questions without resorting to UFOs.
>>
>>25212830
I never said UFO. The ancient humans were more advanced than we are now and created a ship capable of reaching heaven. God didn't like this so he sent us back to the stone age. It has happened many times and will happen again.

>The fact that theologians were not able to cope with the idea that all life is interconnected into one grand tree of life that pulsates and develops out of the logical form underpinning all living processes is such a fucking fumble on their part man
This is quite literally what they thought. They literally put animals on trial because of this, you fucking retard. Meanwhile, we today all have an innate idea that there is a seperation between men and animals on a purely normative basis which cannot even be questioned.
>>
What books to read to learn about the Christian reaction to Darwin? I'm still reading the origin of species atm
>>
>>25208914
200 years before the Theory of Evolution was even a thing, Spinoza laid out a full guide on how to incorporate the figure of God into a logical system of formal evolution and causality, but abrahamic spergs were too arrogant to recognize it and apply it to their faith.
>>
>>25210787
I found it a very enjoyable read, surpringly poetics at parts.

Science is just the rules for the material world that God created. It's funny now nobody shits their pants over plate tectonics, weather systems, medicine or computers. But when you explain the material rules for living things everyone loses it

If you read the Voyage of the Beagle you will be pretty shocked to find basically zero evidence of antecedents of evolution except a few throwaway racist lines about abos.

I have never seen a thinking with a more discontinuous train of thought supposedly leading to their magnum opus.

For me, its all the evidence I need to convince me the accusation of plagiarism from Mathew is correct, though that evidence is considerable in its own right.
