These "philosopher-theologians" have essentially traded the living God for a set of high-brow abstractions that won't offend their secular colleagues at a cocktail party. By making modern science and trendy metaphysics the final judge of Truth, they’ve gutted the Gospel of its historical power and left us with nothing but a hollow, "spiritual" mask for plain old unbelief. It’s the same old Modernist shell game: they use the church's vocabulary to preach a message that is entirely alien to the Word of God. Hard pass on everyone mentioned in this thread.

There's absolutely zero need to believe in evolution or the supposed age of the universe to be a functional modern person, or modern scientist even. Since scientific knowledge is acquired through current observations, and then retroactively used to explain the past, not the inverse, the whole story science tells of the past can be disregarded for the purposes of doing science now.
i.e. you don't need to know humans came from lizards to cure heart disease now

The same is not true for the metaphysical presuppositions science has abandoned. You can not do science without first doing philosophy of metaphysics, epistemology, etc.
i.e. you do need to have a view of metaphysics to state (as scientists do) that mathematical equations map to physical reality

Yet the modern person is forced to submit to the dogma of the former, and free, even encouraged to disregard the necessary latter.

From personal experience I can tell you if someone doesn't believe in evolution and thinks the world is 6,000 years old or whatever they usually think a bunch of other stupid shit too. It's a good filter that if someone says something like this to disregard any of their other opinions.
