If you line up Baltimare, Manehattan, and Fillydelphia with their respective real-world cities, Canterlot seems to be in the general latitude of where Pittsburgh would be.
We know Equestria was set at the earliest in the summer of 1930 because the real-world counterpart of the Crystaller Building was completed on May 30th that year. Note that the US didn't have daylight saving time nationwide between the world wars.
Twilight specifically mentions 546 during the Failure song, and I doubt this was a completely random choice to do her square root. If you check a solar calculator for Pittsburgh, sunset for Pittsburgh on October 12th is at 6:45 PM EDT, or 5:45 PM EST. Being born at 5:46 would mean she was literally born at twilight.

I know quite a few people here can write but I also understand the reluctance. Long greens seem like an extreme commitment and short ones sometimes just seem pointless. I recently dug up a txt file with story ideas from years ago and reading them I was relieved that I never posted any of the short ones. And long story ideas were just so weirdly specific, sometimes it's fetishes I don't really have myself, sometimes it's ideas I know people would struggle to enjoy. The casual green reader seems to be an even more endangered species than writefags are these days, and the lack of readers always wears down the best of them. I've been friends with writefags before. Even the ones that got way, way more (You)s than I ever did, or ever will, all ended up quitting. They just felt like the audience for greens was dead--and this was back in 2018, too. I really miss them.

It's worse than ever for writefags now (and most contentfags in general, but mainly writefags.) And I don't think it's going to get any better in the future.
