I've also tried fixing some issues with the skins. I think i've fixed all color issues i could. Applejack's hat has better contrast with her rider teamcolors now, trooper and Caleb use different spriters and aren't midgets anymore. I've also shrinked Luna's Mane and Tail,

honestly, i dunno. my interest in games comes and goes, my taste in games is rather narrow. I've been spoiled by titanfall and doom, and tho I do play occasionally games that have less movement mechanics (such as DRG), I have a hard time finding interest in any particular game.
I'm currently generally bored of video games on top of that. I'm kind of in gaming limbo right now, not being interested in any game.
I might give UT2004 a try... but it's not likely to stick with me.

Thanks for playing! I didn't account that the wad would be finished so fast with that amount of players! Usually we have 4-5 players and it looks like, atleast on slaughter where explosives and bfgs reign, the ease of the wad in multiplayer doesn't scale linearly with the amount of players. I think progression was about 4 times faster than the wad expected it to be. LOL.

These games have cool movement mechanics but aren't all that fast. If you want a game with cool movement mechanics that is also super fast, i recommend warfork. If it doesn't need to be too mechanically heavy, bhopping in quakeworld and CPMA is neat. Strafejumping on quake3 and quakelive might not be your cup of tea, though. UT2K4 has some nice movement mechanics but the gameplay is more about how to interact with the weps so it might not appeal to a movement freak like you all that much. If you like movement tech over movement mechanics, then speedrunning blood would probably be lots of fun for you. But considering you come from halo i don't think the lack of mechanics will be stopping you as long as the game is fast. All the games i've suggested here are fast so give it a go if you want. Classic doom is still probably the fastest of them all but you're just a moving camera so it might not be as dopamine inducing as bhopping in quake1 for example.

I've played zdaemon and wanted to host it a few but i realized a surprising amount of the players are tuxfags and zandronum is easier to host for and use too (no account required, free server provider etc). There's a wad made for skulltag invasion just for that purpose too. It's called harddoom. I will host the next invasion with it to make things harder. Survival invasion with reinforcements ofc

I've thought about using the elements of harmony, but i've decided not to use all of them because i'm trying to keep the original items proportions (and sillhouette if possible) so doom players can easily notice what's supposed to be. I am risking to lose this with the gunpony but her coat color makes she look a lot like a shotgun from a distance and supershotguns are everywhere so i don't think it will be a big deal. I'm generally not interested in older games - I lean more toward newer games.
to that end, one game I *AM* likely to take a look at is Code RAPID, which is yet to be released. it's a mecha game whose creator recently released a youtube about unexpected movement tech discovered in his game and his intention to not only keep it, but to expand on it (which is neat). Altho, being the multiplayer co-op PvE enjoyer I am, I still don't know if that game will even have any multiplayer, let alone what gamemodes it will include.
I enjoyed Armored Pone 6 a lot and had high hopes for its multiplayer to be expanded... but sadly, every game has to greatly disappoint me in some way. I do occasionally take a puff of hopium, dreaming of a day when an armored core game with well developed multiplayer, including an endless PvE co-op defense mode, will come out... or any mecha game, for that matter (that isn't garbage - and yes, mecha break is garbage, and the chinese kind).
The day we get a well-made, fully-fledged and actually popular mecha game with well developed, widely varied multiplayer and customization devoid of retarded hard classes that allows me to build a death machine that looks vaguely like a pony, will be a VERY happy day...
Until then, I guess DrG will have to suffice. any horsefuckers up for some rock&stone bullshittery? I live in UTC+3 so americans might have some lag, but I don't mind trying.

I see. I don't really care about the new games, they generally aren't as interesting as the old ones. Titanfall 2 is 10 years old but still much better than apex legends and similar games. Movement fps aren't really my cup of tea though. The pacing is just much faster on arena shooters. The nudooms are neat but it really just adds as a few classic doom megawads with gameplay modifications for me. All the things from these games were inspired by quake and doom mods. In the end of the day most shooters still have the dna from the 90s and early 2000s, both technology wise and gameplay wise.

As somepony who rediscovered this thread through Maredoom at Marecon and tends to lean towards newer games, I've actually been having a blast playing both Doom and UT2004, even though I've never played them before and have no skill.
Plus they are games I can actually play at my monitor's full refresh rate.
I just love having another excuse to hang out with fellow marelovers.

and before you say anything: DrG's low-detail graphics are an artistic choice, it doesn't look like it's specifically old. there's something about old games that gives you the feeling that they're old. the "newer" games (as in, after 2010) have more to them. they're less... basic is probably the word I'm looking for. even relatively simple games made in the last 10 or so years have more to them than those from the era of 20 years ago.
speaking of titanfall - does the base game get more players than the Northstar mod or is it the other way around? either way, I might reinstall it if there are enough horsefuckers to play with.

Most arena shooters have smooth gameplay. About the graphics, Ut2k4 has stylized cartoony graphics with custom dynamic lights. It aged really well. Yeah, but you have to switch from the regional server to one a more popular server in the main menu bottom corner. I usually chose to play with americans. I don't play the game anymore, though.

I think deathmatch was bretty gud. I'd like to see team gamemodes with maybe anons trying to cooperate inchat to win. For some reason no one really chats while playing the vydia. They kind of just play it. Teamdeathmatch is a fun gamemode that should work in most deathmatch i think. Would be nice to see how Team last man standing plays out in ut2k4 too

I mean, it’s understandable, in an arena shooter the action is too fast-paced to stop and give instructions or useful information; it’s quicker to just respawn and handle it yourself.
UT2004 has built-in voice chat, and if I’m not mistaken, it’s enabled on the server and anyone can use it (and configure it so you don’t hear it, in case you don’t like it), you can use it in the next session if you want
Who knows, maybe I’ll enable it too.
I don’t deny that there are, of course, game modes where cooperation is essential and certain orders or information about what’s happening can be useful, but when there are only a few of us playing, it’s not that hard to figure out what’s going on in-game

You have to use third party websites if you want the website to be usable though, you can also (in the interest of archive autism) potentially dig up art that's been nuked elsewhere but is still up on the site.
Anyway if (you)'re serious about erp, make a account, make a nice profile with custom fetishes highlighting what you want, then hide the default kinks behind a collapsible category. From there you go search for whatever profiles, and every profile you stumble on that interests you, you IM them, and bookmark them. Out of ~50 profiles you might only get 2-3 responses back, with 1 person being a good candidate. Sometimes you get lucky and see one of the bookmarked profiles you have are online and on f-chat though.
now go get the erpfags horsefucker, just avoid the furfag and obvious troony profiles though, most of the public chat rooms tend to be shit.

Is there anything you can do to prevent the announcer lines from overlapping?
I remember that in MareDoom, you could hear dozens of Luna's lines at the same time because the new one didn't cancel out the previous one.
Of course, sessions aren't always as chaotic as they were in MareDoom, but it would be nice to fix that, if possible

I've set a server variable that turns you into a drone when you die. Let's see how it werks.

I was referring to their public attitude towards the playerbase. they talked mad shit back when they got called out for nepotism, and were generally disrespectful during the whole ingame chat moderation debacle.
this might not be common knowledge, but those guys are genuine assholes who have no respect towards their playerbase, and no shame in putting their disrespect on full display.
sadly, this kind of thing tends to fly under the radar because most people are just oblivious and don't bother to be aware of the happenings in the social side of games they play.

Forget about a UT2004 1v1 tournament; a tournament with 4-player DM/FFA matches is better.
Let’s say there are 8 participants total, and we hold 3 rounds of matches where everyone plays to qualify for the final, with each round consisting of 2 4-player DM matches.
In each match, first place gets 5 points, second place gets 3, third place gets 1, and fourth place gets 0.
Pairings after Round 1 (random) would use the Swiss system.
After the 3 rounds, the top 4 players with the most total points advance to the final.
The final is a single match, also a DM with 4 players, and the result of that match determines the tournament winner.
Since qualifying for the final is an achievement in itself, even the fourth-place finisher receives a small prize.
Prizes would be simple but mlp-related things; I’d aim for things like pony commissions.
I’m sure there would be more than one artist, known or unknown, who would be willing to offer something, even if it’s a small commission like an icon or doodle.

That would make a total of 4 different maps if you count the final.
I was planning to use only custom maps and no vanilla maps, and to announce the maps only once the tournament is official.
That way, there won’t be much of a difference in map knowledge regarding those who have already spent time playing on vanilla maps before the tournament announcement, whether against bots, real players, or by watching gameplay videos.
Exploring and familiarizing yourself with the maps from scratch in preparation for the tournament becomes important, and it reduces the gap between experienced and inexperienced players a bit (even if you only started playing a few months ago thanks to the /mlp/ server and aren’t even that good yet, you likely have more map knowledge of the vanilla maps, or custom maps played on the server, than someone who started just a couple of months or weeks ago).

Imagine training for weeks for a UT2004 tournament and losing the round in 3 seconds because some guy with a lightning gun headshot you.
I mean, I like LMS and hosting tournaments with it sounds cool, but that LMS experience isn’t typical in UT2004, at least not what we usually play on the /mlp/ server.
It makes it frustrating for less experienced players who’ll die very quickly, and it doesn’t make for a great show, since most of each round will be a slow, quiet game between the last two guys.
I won’t lie to you, I like that, but I don’t feel like it’s appropriate if we want to attract players to what will definitely be their first tournament in a game they don’t know that well.
Making it DM is more chaotic, but there’s merit in thriving among chaos; you keep the technical and strategic aspect of managing your resources (guns, ammo, adrenaline, HP), but at the same time, you allow a player who started playing a month ago to take advantage of the chaos and earn some points to qualify for the final, even if they don’t finish first in any of the 3 rounds

Honestly, it's a big mess. I'm going back to fix a bunch of stuff with the old skins and still testing the new ones. It took a while to figure out how SFM models work for Brandon (good news is we can port SFM stuff now I guessMidnight Sparkle). I'm also extremely retarded and got distracted: I came to the great epiphany that I can steal all of DoomAnon's hard work and bastardise it into UT. On top of that, new HudCompanions still need to be finished with new special filly gimmicks. Tried making 4 fitting male voicepacks too (shouldn't interfere with any of your plans). I wanted to get it all done before the next EqG stream, but I think I've fucked up: there's too much to fix and test before the stream anchor, and multiple modpacks would be annoying and I don't want you under any pressure. This is also preventing the WS UTComp upgrade, sorry about that.

Yep, as a compromise to the above, I can pass that along with the SSG mod, they don't require redistribution and work straight from the server. The SSG, albeit not ponified, should be an interesting pseudo gamemode changer depending on settings:

They're generated with ImageMagick by picking a few dominant colours from the vector and transforming them into a gradient. The shadowbolts are a gradient of #141a24 and #6f1c9e. If you want me to change the Dazzlings (and I assume Sunset), that's quick and easy. I have no idea what to do about the Christmas ones; can't really find a good image for Doer's Fluttershy-with-a-ponytail or Detective Rarity either. The shattered/CPA humane 6 ones I found aren't exactly a match but aren't too bad either.

A good amount of my werk is just editing assets i liked from doom2, show vectors, deviantart and derpibooru usually until it looks like it fits. If you plan to get the font, don't use the one from my wad. Get the original one instead: Equestria Neue by Font Co. (Matt Mayuga). Use fontforge to make svgs from the characters you need and the inkscape cli to export it as a png.

SSG by default fires 20 pellets each with a damage range of 5-15 as God intended. A full meatshot can send a player 16,000uu/s (around mach 1). It's actually fairly balanced in UT, most likely because I fucked up the spread (configurable) and smaller hitboxes. But there's a cool unintended feature I kept in: damage knockback inflicts fall damage if shot at from higher angles. This means you can reliably gib enemies by jumping into them and shooting down, it's pretty satisfying. This also affects the pusher mode too, but regardless, jumping up in front of someone means you're probably going to be sent into space.
For the CharEnforce, it triggers on player join and on respawn. If someone changes their skin to a non-whitelisted character mid-game, there's a chance they can respawn with it for a life or two before getting forced back. To configure, you can add the list straight into the CharEnforce.ini, navigate to /CharEnforce (not /ServerAdmin), or in-game with console commands. Doesn't need a server restart or map transition for any changes to the list. The available chars are built off the server-side UPLs.

I scaled Spike down to a biblically accurate size and it's both funny as fuck and super annoying. His hitbox is all fucked up, so he'll need a custom race. Due to him being extra small, it would be fair to halve his health. Could be used as the default fallback character for the CharEnforce to punish uncultured randoms and a fun challenge mode for sweats.

Well, look. Someone has gotta play MMO games, I don't. I don't even like multiplayer. To me, a game that "hits all the right buttons" is never going to go offline. It won't require me to go online. For me, that's part of the joy of gaming, is that I can do it on my own terms. Mobile consoles like the PSP, Gameboy and Nintendo Switch all were created to keep this philosophy carried on into the future, that convenience is ultimately key. As is the case with all things, consumers will speak with their wallet(s).
I'll give you an example of why you're wrong:
Whirled.
Whirled was a sandbox Flash game that started in 2008 (open Beta) and the idea was to have a chatroom, but it had multiple minigames you could play within that "universe". A friend invited me to play it once and I got online for a few times after that but it never "hooked" me, it's just not my thing. But lo-and-behold, when the death of Flash was announced, Whirled became its own thing with players trying to revive it, and they did, and it's called Whirled.Club and it even has a downloadable client. The thing is, when players are faced with a problem, the more adapting and creative ones can simply figure a way out of it so that they can keep doing what they enjoy.
But here's the key difference: Notice how I said that Whirled was a chatroom.
Just like with anything, read the fine print: I think anyone with half-a-brain knows, the chatroom is not indefinite. It is not going to last forever, into infinity.
The server must end at some point, and everyone knew that. Flash being discontinued is ultimately what caused Whirled's demise but, it was in the back of everyone's head while they're playing it, "This is an online game-if the server breaks, shuts down, or simply is no longer able to be afforded any longer, then this is over."
