Did "scenecore" do more harm than good for the health of rock music at large?

Scene kids used to piss me off with their white belt faggotry and co-opting of grindcore music. I used to hate groups like The Number 12 Looks Like You and The Great Redneck Hope but I've mellowed out on it. I was more or less one of those types who thought if it didn't sound like Nasum, Phobia or Brutal Truth it wasn't grindcore.
