sometimes I think what musical territory have we not heard fully yet? The one that always comes back is True Industrial Pop. Somewhere between St Vincent, Nine Inch Nails, Foetus (Deaf era), New Wave in general (Talking Heads/Blondie particularly), and the girl pop sound of the 21st century especially the hyper produced shit. Industrial is inherently an edgy alternative type genre so thats partly why the 2 sounds have never truly met on the bridge but I crave this sound in my head, despite being a songwriter I'm the opposite of a production type skilled guy, the moment I got acquainted with my synth it died and I never went back. In some ways acts like 100 Gecs have gotten near this but they are over the top in the wrong way. Besides obvious industrial motifs, big fuzzy guitars is definitely key

Rap/Hip Hop has the most potential to create an interesting new sound if only it wasn't so bogged down by the "gangster" culture that surrounds it.
An electronic based genre that focuses on lyrical content and poetic delivery has so much potential to be interesting in countless ways, but it's forced to be all about girls, money, and drugs.
