It's an okay album simply because it's a rehash of already great or good songs.
Boys Noize saved Trent Reznor.
If Trent went to coachella and was expected to simply use his raw voice over his existing instrumentals, he would've been made fun of.
The contrast between his old, tired voice and the young popstars voices is so jarring.
What Boys Noize did is that they muted Trent's mic whenever he was going to hit a note that he couldn't hit.
Then they overlayed the original voice to replace it. Or in some cases, they had both play at once.
It's most obvious in "Heresy"s chorus, but happens a lot in "Closer" too.
The Memorabilia remix is godawful, in fact a lot of the remixes are. They sound like 2018 dubstep.
Also he shoehorned his wife into it.
Sorry to say, but Trent Reznor's voice is done for.
Without the heavy editing from Boys Noize, it would've been trash.
It's still pretty shit with the edits, though.
1/5. They sound like shitty dubstep.

Is it? I can't tell.

What did he even do here? His regular music is just soft collabs.
It's nice but NiN we're over with Hesitation Marks and the find 2-3 Eps after. Now they lost the edge and ave Zoomercore. And that's ok. I don't expect my fav musicians to last forever.

and it's been obvious for the last what… 20 years?
I don't get why he still tries so hard. Doesn't he have enough money already? Even his soundtrack business is cringe and formulaic now, and entering new lows that no one thought possible (Disney, teenage mutant ninja turtles)

I don't understand the point of adding crowd noises. It's too distracting. If I wanted to hear that, I would just listen to the Coachella gig.
I'm not impressed by this album, which is a shame because I really liked the show.
I suppose this is one of those things that only work on a live environment.

It was decent enough. The good songs were the ones that were already good live but there were no real hard, polished stand outs. In every case the original song is better.
Best were: Vessel, Came Back Haunted, Heresy, Memorabilia
