is bad but Joel is still /ourguy/
Trance needs more high tier composers, I see classically trained composers like Hamauzu compose better Trance than the god damn people in Trance... They make very simplistic melody.
It's not bad, its entertaining but it can be more you know.
Recently i listened to Oneohtrix Point Never - Tranquilizer
it was kinda good

zoomers are still trying their hardest to make it entirely bass focused. i genuinely miss synths and melody

I love deadmau5 but that nigga fell off hard after 2019. It's no secret he's been on his way out for a while now which is understandable given his long career but if he wanted to keep releasing tracks for the fun of it or to pay bills he could have just refined some of his unreleased old works and easily made another killer album or two but instead he chose to make the most generic slop ever and market it like ass. It's almost like he's outsourced his whole brand to some bored team of zoomers and now he doesn't stand out from the endless sea of EDM producers at all anymore.
Leaning into his more experimental side would have been amazing:

Re-jaded is unironically the best thing he's ever made.
