I watched the decline of western civilization part 2 recently and that film completely deconstructs the rock star myth while simultaneously exposing all those pathetic LA hair bands as massive creeps and delusional losers who were obviously more concerned with being famous than they were any sort of artistic integrity. Its obvious that essentially every group in the film spent way too much time watching MTV and its hilarious how every band fucking sucked and sounded like a shitty guns and roses rip off band. Megadeth was literally the only good band that performed and by the time you finally reach their segment at the end of the film its a massive relief and refreshing to hear real artists perform and speaking the honest truth about the realities of being an artist in the rock and roll business. Its plain to see why hair metal died and everyone thought those guys were losers

no, when posers who watch too much mtv and are only in it for the fame and excess and try to adhere towards the "sex drugs and rock and roll" myth bs instead of just making genuine and true art its shallow and cringe. that's the problem with the hair metal guys, sure some of them were genuinely good and got to live that lifestyle but so many people in that scene in the 80s and people like the OP today are more obsessed with the image and the girls and the drugs and booze than they are with real artistic integrity. that's why no one can take this garbage seriously. don't get me wrong i like some of it but id never admit that outloud

and talking about musical talents, glam was better with guitars, singing and songwriting than grunge

from thrash only mustaine is legit impessive. grunge have cantrell and Soundgarden guy. Even b-tier glam guitarists played better than most big boys out there. Demartini, evh, Lynch are genuinely impressive and tasteful guitarists.

Vocal wise it's not even a competition. Layne is top ten of all time, Cornell and weialdn are good but glam had keifer, bach, axl, jani lane and bunch of other greats. Thrash has only beladdona who is weak Dickinson lite

And yeah, songwriting. Nikki, CC Deville, Bon Jovi knew how to write a song that resonates with people

If you can't appreciate life goes on (written by cc devile who's stripper girlfriend was shot and died in his arms) or something to believe in (which was inspired by bret's vet friend passing) by poison then you're legally have no soul, my friend.
