i spent an hour trying to get NFS 2015 working on my steam deck last night and was thinking its crazy that no one has made a need for speed-but-with-motorcycles type vidya game
run from the cops, mod your bike, just regular street races. every motorcycle video game is just track only. muy gayo

Last thread died so posting again.
Anons, if I sell my 2012 883 Iron Harley, how much should I ask?
Mechanically speaking- it’s fine. Starts, runs, drives, shifts fine. I just never drive it. It’s got ape hangers, screaming eagle exhaust kit, needs a new front tire, and the rear breaks probably need replacing cause they just don’t work. It’s got about 10k miles.
Thinking about putting in the ad “will trade for chopper.”

The problem is the contols. Twin stick isn't too far off from simulating sttering wheel + throttle/brake, and shoulder buttons can do an automatic, or even a manual if you ditch the analog nature of a clutch.
But on a bike, you've got steering + lean, and a wet clutch needs to be fucking analog (maybe sports bikes only do dry clutches, not my lane). And then you've got throttle plus 2 sets of brakes with different effects on the bikes handling. There's not enough analog controls and you wouldn't have enough fingers anyway.
And then how do you satisfy the sim autists who want an actual real vontrol set?

ok sorry anons i have a stupid question:
hipotetically speaking i decide to do a multi day trip across the TET and i'm a really cool dude and i hit puddles and mud like a pro and get all my bags pants and boots caked in mud. once i reach the point i want to eat something hot or it's end of the day and i need to reach where to sleep wtf do i do? ask them to hose me down a bit in the middle of the road/parking lot?
And if i'm not a pro and i'm a bit of a disgrace for all the offroad riders out there and slip in said puddles and mud and like become a proper mess and i'm seriously caked in it?

Since you are a rich fag, stay at the closest Hilton. Carry a garbage bag with you, put your muddy gear in the garbage bag and take it to your hotel room. You can change right in their parking lot. The next day, you wear the same muddy gear.

I miss the old CR500AF. I made the tips of my fingers go numb sometimes from the vibration, but it was was experience to ride for sure.
>>
>>
>>28915164
Kek. I had a CR500 for about 2 months in 1998. Probably only hit WOT half a dozen times, would bring it with my XR400 just for posture and the odd 'If you can kickstart it, you can ride it' challenge. Sold it after I was called out, the angry bitch kicked so hard on my me it blew a fucking hole in my gumboot and sprained my ankle.
When man can chuck on a swann-dri, stubbies and gumboots to ride their bike, but it almost kills them on the sidestand, is it still a bike?
>>
>>28915147
>Since you are a rich fag
anon i'm poor as fuck i was gonna stay in the shittiest motels and just eat sandwiches and one hot meal at the end of the day, i just don't want to leave dirt behind me it would be rude to the owners and wagies working there.
>>
>>28915166
>'If you can kickstart it, you can ride it'
Sit on bike, turn on gas and choke, click tranny to second gear, push-pull bike forward and back about 4 times (moves cylinder up and down drawing in fresh air/fuel, shift to neutral, press kick starter down slowly to find TDC, bleed off a little pressure, kick quickly and it starts easily. No need to try and kick full compression. If it does not start on first cycle, just repeat. You can start it very easily and quickly with that routine. I learned to race MX on that bike. Once in a while I hit sharp bump and flicked the throttle accidently and the power would just explode.
>>
>>28915147
If don't want to add dirt to parkinglot, do it at the side of the road near the motel where there is dirt. Don't worry about dirt in hotel room as it will be inside a garbage bag. I would try to air my gear out, but I'm leaving that as a task for you to figure out.

>>28915173 This reply was for you.
>>
>>28915171
That's the kicker. I've even had people try to kick-start my XR400 and just about launch themselves over the bars, "It's seized?!".
The throttle control is what got me. Having a small bomb at your beck and call is all well and good, but my muscle memory had been 4t for 20 years. A nice gentle, linear curve. Cresting a root system just as the band hits?

The state of DBT, I don't even get called a wrenchlet. Whats wrong with my front brakes brothers? It's gripping, releasing, gripping, releasing, looks like I'm headbanging when coming to a stop at an intersection? It's not ABS, it doesnt look like there's any crookedness on the brake discs and I haven't spilled oil on the discs. It's less noticeable at higher speed and there's no vibrating\pulsing in the brake lever. AAAaaaaaaaaa
>>
>>28915246
only a little warping of the disc causes large changes. how did you rule out the disc?
could also be your wheel, i once had badly installed bicycle front wheel which would wobble when loaded with brakes, this might be similar

you have patchy deposits of brake pad material on the rotors, that you wouldn't be able to see.
this causes low speed bike lurch (headbanging)
at higher speeds it smooths out
the brake lever isnt pulsing because the rotor isn’t physically warped
the pads could have got overheated at some point, or when they were new pads they weren’t bedded in properly or the bike sat for a while
to fix it you either need new pads and rotors and bed the new pads properly...
or you can try to lightly sand the rotors (scotch-brite or fine emery), then clean with brake cleaner
on a flat surface, lay some sand paper down flat and scrub each brake pad on top to get rid of the glaze

Put your front wheel in the air
Loosen the axle nut, pinch bolts, caliper mounting bolts, and the front fender bolts.
Bounce the front end on the ground a couple times to realign the components.
Spin the front tire then clasp the front brake over and over.
Torque pinch bolts to hold axle
Torque axle bolt
Torque calipers
Torque fender bolt.
If its still being weird, try grabbing the front brake lever and keep it held with a zip tie. Leave the zip tie on overnight and take it off in the morning. Your brakes should feel perfect, if they're significantly better then you have air in your brake system if it doesn't then you have a leak somewhere.
Lastly try some compressed air and blow out the brake pads and the floating bushings on your disc rotor (assuming they're floating disc's)
Could also just be a misaligned brake pad support bracket, the tiny metal thing that comes with brake pads.

Has anyone ever seen a type of gague cluster where the circuit board (more like a flimsy green plastic sheet with copper lines from the clip to the gagues) clips directly into the wire harness clip? Got a beater Yamaha xv250 that suddenly doesn't want to shift well into first gear from 2nd and vice versa. Above that, it shifts fine. Revving to crank the engine and gently disengaging the clutch, the bike sometimes "clicks" into the gear with a delay.
How fucked is it?
What do?

Why would you trade for a chopper instead of making your bike a chopper? Like nigga it's a sporty. They make everything you could ever need for anything for those. Why not build your own? I get that it takes time and tools and effort but that's what makes choppers cool. Because if it were easy there'd be more of them.
Then again you said "rear breaks" so I guess it's just not in the cards for you.

The more a jewtuber relies on monetization, the less reliable they become. Lastest fortnine vid is openly shilling chinkshit, while sponsored by what appears to be Honey 2: scamboogaloo. >but the sheet itself is stuck in there.
but the pins* are stuck in there. the pins stay attached to the circuit board.
if you have the locking tab unlocked, gently move the connector side to side, back and forth, and try to wiggle it free
wd40 leaves an oil residue, which you dont want on something that needs to make electrical contact.
wd40, the brand, makes electrical contact cleaner though... so does crc, you can buy it from any car parts store

The fortnine video was like whiplash because I distinctively remembered Ryan taking a firm stance against China in his Honda 4 S' video.
Authoritarian regimes will never reward or make insenstives to push out anything of quality because those systems only reward volume and turnaround times. You don't have autonomy to speak up out of line to correct a qualilty control error because in those societies you will face punishments that last long outside the workspace.
I was very disappointed in Ryan about the China bike video. It's like he threw his spine away entirely. Yammienoob is a nu-slop enjoyer so there's no suprise there that he's a sucker but to be so clueless about the malignant quality attached to chink bikes is just foolish if not outright nefarious.
Fuck the Chinese
Fuck the chinashills
Fuck the broke posers who buy chink shit
Fuck the waterholders who think if we just give em a chance-!

Def change the oil before you go looking for other problems. What you are describing could be caused by the clutch dragging, which could happen from old oil. Even though you don't have a lot of miles, it's been in there evaporating and collecting condensed water that hasn't had a chance to evaporate out because the bike doesn't spend a lot of time with the oil hot.
Also it would suck if you spent time chasing a problem that turned out to be oil.
Put some Rotella in it.
>>
>>28915526
>Engineering integrity is a product of the free world, not Authoritarianism.
You're angrily agreeing with him. He liked the bike, in so far as he appreciated what Kove had done in bringing a late 2000s dakar race bike to market, but he still called out the lying about the 800's weight, everything they left off the bike relative to other mid size offerings, the frame longevity issues, the cam problems (which are technically KTMs but Kove made their bed so now they get to sleep in it), and the unavoidable contradiction in selling a Dakar race bike as a travel bike. Shit man, he spends the last chunk of that video explaining how he thinks China is running out of runway regarding trying to undercut their competitors who are already using Chinese parts assembled in countries with cheaper labor costs than some CN factories.
What else do you want? Him mugging at the camera while "china bad" blinks in bold red text above him?

I have the same problems, riding with other people is fun if you have the same "spirit" otherwise it just becomes racing down the streets with other people and at that point might as well do it alone at your own pace.
I like to try scout some scenic views or weird places but it's been a bit since i've been out sightseeking with the camera, i saw there is a sherman tank in a nearby town and i always tell myself i shoul go take a pic of 'ku in front of it (even if it's on a pedestrian pass in a not so scenic place) for starters since they are both green.
i remember a chain of posts some time ago where some anons where like posting their bike in front of a lighthouse or a boat and others anons where doing the same. that could be a fun thing to try do.
i also technically downloaded the geocache app thingy and i was thinking of trying that too just to go in unusual places but i never tried it

This is the 4th time I have seen this and people swept it with the 450ss, 450mt, and 675ss. The 675ss eventually corrected and stoped marketing as 400lb when it is 20lb heavier. These are all 20 to 50 lb heavier than they initially market.

>Why not build your own?
Yeah, no like I get that; but my thing is like if I can look on marketplace and find a sweet little chopper for say 5 or 6 grand- maybe even one with a kick starter (I’ve had dirt bikes, I love kickers). It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense if I can sell my bike for 3k, then turn around and buy one outright for say 5k. Plus at the end of the day, I simply don’t have the mechanical knowledge to do it on my own. I mean we’re talking-
>taking the engine out along with basically everything else
>chopping and welding the frame
>paint
>new tires and wheels
>new forks
>new seat
>new tank
>new fender
That’s at least everything I’d wanna do to mine. Even if I had someone to help me, you’re still talking more than it’d be to just sell mine and put a little more towards one already done.

The condensation bit makes a lot of sense - after about 40 mins of street speeds yesterday I did notice the shifts got better (not ideal though). I chalked it up to the oil heating up and becoming less viscous.
Bike had to spend the winter in an unheated shed.
Before I get the new oil (and filter, depending on how dirty the oil looks), would taking it for a ride, and then, when parking, removing the oil cap and covering the hole with a cloth help boil off some of the condendsate out of the crank case, or is that just placebo?

He played softball bro, if you think I'm irrational for finding his video cringe then maybe you're just a Chang glazer.
Matter of fact, why bother with the video at all if he was staunchly against the Chinese brands? Where was all his energy from the Honda Video?
I was disappointed in Ryan/F9. It wouldn't suprise me if he shills that chink V4 when it's out.
>Guys the cams may turn to cheese but if you just do a heckin oil change then it totally resolves this inherit design flaw
>Guys so, it seems the Chinese lied but I'm going to entertain all of the okay aspects anyway
Ryan's a smart dude, so it's bewildering to see his intellect in such a dormant if not timid state of chink shilling. Does he have no principles or just not courageous enough to G check the Chinese / Sucka ass consumers who push CFmoto/insert chink brand here.

Honda gave you a damper-rod fork instead of cartridge forks because everyone (except KTM) shits on the newbies. Damper rods have fixed metering holes, and fixed holes are soft at slow speed but harsh at high speed. So they make it too soft to prevent dive and slop but at least it won't skate out from under you when there's bumps or ripples in a corner.
You can get a cartridge emulator, which adds a spring-loaded flat valve for compression. Which works better then you would think. Sometimes you can fit the cartridge or fork tubes or the entire front end from a different bike, but that tends to be pricey.
Super cheap option is thicker oil in the forks, and live with harsh suspension over bumps. But that kinda sucks.
I have emulators in my sv650, was worth it.

You have to sell your soul to be a motorcycle content creator. You ether constantly break the law and sell merch while e-beging. Or you shill for brands and never say anything bad ever about them under threat of losing access to test rides and press events. All while being a whore to the YT algorithm.
I'm also convinced riding all those review bikes curses them to a life of never being fully satisfied with any bike they ride for life.

None, chucking it in street mode limits the power to 150 and it's quite sedate.
It can be a bit annoying to lane filter with it due to the limited steering.

Yeah I still have the zx6r. It's now my dedicated track/twisty bike. I keep the sticky tires on it and I did the valve adjustment and every last bit of maintenance. Got it completely dialed in for doing that stuff. It's got a lot of miles now, 37K and it's almost 20 years old. I want to keep it dedicated for that purpose and not mile it out or have to do a shit ton more repairs to it, so it sits ready for track or twisties. I put the touring tires on my gixxer, and it's a lot more comfortable ergo wise, and more daily-able with low end torque being a 750.
The Gixxer could absolutely do all of that stuff too. It could be an all in one bike, but I'm spoiled. Kek. Plus...I realize it's a skill issue but I feel more confident ripping down twisty back roads on a 600 than a 750. More room for error getting back on the throttle. I do take the 750 to the twisties sometimes but if I'm fully sending it, I prefer the 600.
I really want to sell the Ducati back to my sister in the next couple of years, honestly. It's just too punishing for me to ride it with my back fusion and it handles awkwardly compared to the Japanese bikes. It's basically a garage ornament at this point. Would be nice to move it out and get some more space. I have 7 bikes in here now. Kek. In my old age, I've been wanting more and more to pick piano back up and learn it properly. My parents have a baby grand piano that they got from my grand father. Would be sick to set that up in my shop if I could actually play.

No, even in the wet proper sport tires perform better. Touring tires are just harder and meant to last longer at the expense of grip and cornering performance.
Get a pair of Dunlop Sportsmart 4s and see what your bike is actually capable of.

You've gotta be really hauling ass to get to the limit of any street tire. I ride shinkos and I'll drag pegs b4 losing traction. You're right that a touring tire sacrifices grip for life, but it already had more than enough.

I required motorcycle wisdom.
The 80 CB750 has an aftermarket harness going to the tail light unit. I am putting an original unit on it.
Running and brake lights are wired which leaves me with a yellow and blue wire(I assume the color code means something to someone) on the aftermarket harness.
When I turn on a turn signal both start pulsing.
What is the deal with this I was expecting to have sides.
If it matters I don't have front turn signals installed, but I'm not so sure that the rears are dependent on them.

Or, hear me out, Honda or Suzuki can put EFI and rear ABS on a 600-700cc single and we can have a proper trail bike again.
>Oh no, it's suspension is softer than a exc 500
>Oh no, it's not got the top end like my Versys 650
I know. It's also not a misery going over every filled pothole or road seam in town and it weighs a full 100lbs less than a travel bike.
Bring back the God damn trail bike class, Japan. Stop lying in your adv/dual sport marketing. Most of us never rode motocross. We will never visit a race track. We will never jump 2m in the air over a tabletop. WE TAKE IT TO WORK, OUT IN THE HILLS, AND OCCASIONALLY TRESSPASS WHERE WE HAVE PLAUSIBLE DENIABLITY.
>>
>>
>>
>>28914938
New rider. Signed up for a class and planning to buy a bike hopefully under 3k. My question is are the 80s hondas I see all over marketplace actually decent starter bikes or am i going to get eaten alive just keeping it going down the road?
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>28916326
Depends on the Honda, the Nighthawks with shaft drive are known to be pretty bullet proof and have long lifespans. I'd advise you to avoid any 80s build without EFI as I don't think you want to spend your starting time potentially having carb issues. If you're handy with a wrench and can tune them, then go nuts. Is there a CC size you're looking at? What is the environment like where you live
>>
>>28916327
Kind of pushing my budget but I could see a 500 next year after I'm more confident I'm not going to drop it within the first week of owning it
>>28916353
Thanks anon I'll keep that in mind. I am somewhat handy but if something needed a full rebuild I'd be lost. Trying to keep it small ~250ish CC to start. I live in indiana and just plan to do backroad with some highway riding for the summer
>>
>>
>>28916294
But Honder did do this. Their midsize bikes are just fat girls. In fact most midsize bikes are. That's why I went with a KTM790, she's 50-70lbs lighter than the rest of her class. Check out the 500cc adv bike Honder has. It's 400lbs when wet
>>
>>28916356
>250 in Indiana
That sounds like you're looking at. 250 Rebel. Avoid them, they were great starter bikes 30 years ago, but they are too slow for the real world in America. Honder makes a new 500/300cc Rebel. If you're a normal size man the 50/ is probably what you want. If you are a smollboy then the 300 will do. They come with ABS and typically can be had for $3-4k. They're not the most comfortable bikes (Honda cheaperdout big time on the shocks). But they are light as hell, fairly fast (got into an accidental 100MPH chase in one), and they start right up and handle pretty well. If back roads are rougher you might want to check out the CB500x or whatever they call their adv 500cc, it's the same engine, better shocks and a bigger gas tank (the Rebels get about 120-150 miles to the tank).
>>
>>28916366
>KTM790
>500cc adv bike Honder
Those are street bikes that have been scramblerized. A trail bike is a dual sport with a large displacement single, wide ass gearing, larger gas tank, heavier frame, and softer suspension than you typically see on a 450. It's a more street-erized version of a dual sport.

I changed my handlebar setup, and now I need a mounting solution for my brake fluid reservoir. I figured revzilla would have pages and pages of brackets to choose from, but they do not. I could probably cut and bend something up, but I know I'll make it ugly. Any recommendations for places to look? I might need to replace my reservoir as well with the tab and outlet nipple in the right place. There's got to be a ton of options and layouts for something like this.
Also, the reservoir needs to be above the master, correct?

Well... It is with a ptwin or vtwin. With a single it feels immoral. Though rebel300 makes me really wish it was a cb250 from another era.
>>28916326
80s bikes are a pain in the ass to maintain and get running again. At least look at 90s and 2000s. There are starter bikes that go under 3k all day in the US. The older rebel and cb 250s are super cheap due to how slow they are. The cbr300r and cb300f and older cb500s if you really wanted honda, ninja 250 and 300 are still cheap, avoid the gsx250s it is the worst option period instead a tu250 is even better than that. Problem with a tu250 and rebel/cb 250 are that they have powerbands of a small dual sport which means you are limited to mainly urban and city areas with sub 65mph speeds. That said the newer Honda 300s don't feel comfortable past 70mph. Ride to work often to build confidence btw.

Shoomer bros, i have finally located the pistons, piston ringloids, gaskets freshly extruded from the garloid farms, and i think a zx14r striker plate for the seat- since its a very NAUGHTY bike
Also tearing abart my bicycle make me realize how much i have to fix on the fucker, so im doing a grand parts order soon, get all my ducks in a row, maybe this will be finished sooner than im expecting
Not looking forward to rigging the crf450rl back together again- fuck me, if i had known how many emissions jannoids were stuffed into the tight frame and the wiring harness of doom to make it street legal- probably woulsve just boughted a dirt bike and made it street legal rather than the dual sport editions
Probably annigilate like 80% of congestion issues from emissions jannids by just doing that
Apart from that, i dont really wana sell the zx14r, its grown on me the last few weeks ;_;
