offensive driving is generally people who don't really know how to drive
>huhuh, let me slam on the breaks in front of the obvious traffic light
or you can could just engine break perhaps avoiding the need to stop altogether
>>
I make people rage with my defensive driving, which in turn makes me rage when I see everyone go around me cause I don't slam my brakes hard enough on red lights or race the other lane when the green light comes on.

I call it proactive driving vs reactive driving. Defensive driving is reactive driving in that you can only take actions in response to others actions. The best way to avoid an accident is to not be around other cars at all. You might think it's safer to keep a big following distance, signal your intention well in advance, wait for a safe place to merge, and then pass that slower driver in front of you, but you're actually just creating the potential for more accidents. A guy will cut into your following distance to take an exit last second, a guy will tailgate to close the gap so you can't get over, someone will really take their sweet time passing in the left lane and then not get back over and everyone else in the left lane is also addicted to the left lane and no one will pass on the right and they all just ride 3mph under the limit for miles and miles and now you're caught in the middle of what looks like the formation lap at Daytona. Instead you could've just zipped around the guy when you had the chance now you're on your way. It doesn't mean you should drive like some white line certified wheres981 wannabe, it's just "a good driver doesn't avoid accidents, he prevents them" well a better driver completely removes any and all possibilities of an accident occurring at all

Definitely this. Recognize bad situations and get out of them. Usually that means passing, sometimes very aggressively, less often it can mean hanging back if you can't safely pass and then let the tards tailgate.
>case in point
>be me
>driving on highway 85 in 55 mph
>suddenly all lanes going slow as shit
>but also no traffic further out
>something seems off
>catch a glimpse, wait is that cop
>everyone behind is reeeeing
>sit in the madness on high alert
>someone works their way up and in front
>immediately pulled over
Anyway I guess fuck cops because that situation wouldn't have existed otherwise.

boomer story coming
im service tech tradie, do long drives at work.
one of my work vans was a wv t5 transporter that i tuned to 200ish hp. i regulary did jobs with a fucktard of an apprentice and he constantly complained i was driving slow. so i said here, take the wheel, show me how its done. he spendt 10min longer to our destination than i. that was because he drove aggresively.

Not a meme. The biggest danger on the road is other drivers, and defensive driving is to drive with that in mind - that every other person on the road is a fucking idiot who a) can barely drive, b) does not enjoy driving (and therefore takes no pride in it), and c) thinks their driving is perfect.

true in theory, but lots of courses seem to load up on dumb shit like being passive and avoidance by retreating from a situation, and lane keeping instead of lane discipline. I know so many millennials that took a course that taught them to leave a massive following distance (because of course you want angry retards cutting up in front of you) and instead of using passing rules they were told to "take" a lane and drive in it at an "appropriate" speed, which has way too many variables for interpretation
if you were taught shit like >>28976778 you got lucky and learned correctly, but not everyone was

>makes me rage when I see everyone go around me cause I don't slam my brakes hard enough on red lights
That shit makes me seethe so damn hard. See a megaretard obviously gunning it towards a red (and there are cars already stopped there), only to drop the anchor something like 25 feet from the stopped cars. Why the fuck can't they lift their foot off the throttle, I can't understand for the life of me.

>see bmw flying up behind me
>move over before he starts tailgating
>follow him down the highway because he effectively gets all defensive retards out of the left lane efficiently
