I setup to use a hunting backpack for both, its just better. And the weight concerns are moot because if you're hunting, you're expected to haul out a ton of meat. So for me, the baseweight and any extra im taking on a thru-hike are just light practice for the real slog when it comes to hauling out an animal

Not that its overkill but thru hiking wants a balance of comfort and weight saving.
4-5lb for a backpack is a little high when you're planning on doing 15-17 mile days.

If you must have that pack just be ready to make weight saving cuts elsewhere, like bringing 5 days of food vs 7 days, or spending a lot on lighter tent/clothing combinations.

I have the Osprey Atmos 50 which is around 4lb and I shaved weight from everything else to keep my pack weight low for the PCT.

I want a pack like the collapsed pic on the left except thats as big as it gets. Long and narrow. Extends up to or past the head. Doesnt extend far away from the body. Good waist belt.

The k4 is a great hunting back, and it doesn't feel heavy when loaded up so I would say go for it but if possible wait for Black Friday. Exo only does one say a year and that's it.

the 7200 you posted is also way too big, you will never fill it unless youre hiking Alaska for a month and are loaded up with puffys.

the 5000 is better suited for just about every scenario
