Aside from the "art" (most are obviously photoshopped and have minimal use of AI) this has to be the most pathetic live money laundering event of rich trust fund baby millenials and gen-z I have ever seen.
So you just have me believe these are average people interested in photography? Most of these contenders come from 3rd world nations and can purchase high level equipment and have the free time and leisure to do so. If anything these are the upper class of India, Russia, South Africa, Argentina etc.
Either way you can see the host just wants to wrap things up from the very beginning. What ever those ladies (in black dresses handing out the awards) behind the scenes are doing is beyond me. When leaving the stage they always need to scratch their butts. Even they dont care for the award winners and dont even give these trust fund babies a glance when handing over the award, which is funny.
In regards to skill set, there are truly nice and lovely photos being presented. Some of which would make me happy having them in my portfolio. Others... seems like random images I can find on some tourists smartphone.
Question to /p/:
Could you do better?
Which categories would you excel at?
What happened to /p/ weekly or monthly contest?
Why dont we try to get an image from /p/ to the upcoming Siena Awards?

If you're going to make the effort of posting like this, you should at the very least follow up with a few specific examples images and your specific criticisms of them
Otherwise it just comes off as whining

Shitted up by people like me who don't post photos

Every single photo in your links is leagues ahead of anything ever posted on /p/.
>Why dont we try to get an image from /p/ to the upcoming Siena Awards?
Yeah, I'm sure a snapshit of somebody's dog or a picture of an egg is gonna do real well.

My recent egg photos are all part of a series of egg still lifes I've been working on. The only real backstory is that I'm using found objects from my farm combined with eggs from the same farm, and big film autism. Entirely unimportant and even if I am saying something with the work it isn't like I'm saying war bad or exploring the interconnectivity of lgbt communities in the ugandan ghettos, so it really doesn't matter.
They aren't really "woah that's really cool" type pictures as much as they are carefully constructed pieces of really boring "art", aka cope. Not really popular and pretty much entirely visually/thematically incompatible with this contest. Maybe if they had a still life section there'd be a chance for top 10 or something, but probably not.
Once I have my entire series finished and all the hyper obsessive contact prints made it could be pretty good, but I'm mainly doing this for fun and to learn/practice so it's whatever. Should be cool to have them all on my wall one day.

Anything social or political is what wins awards. Pretty much every photo contest or whatever in my city always picks some portrait of a black person with a look of contempt on their face as the winner and anything runner up is political related (usually a protest or some shit).

I have no proof this is AI. Just my opinion.
P.S does anyone have the feeling one's own mind is getting lazier/dumb due to frequent AI use? e.g prompts like "correct this sentence" etc.? I feel like I cant even structure my own sentences anymore OR I doubt myself alot more than before when writting emails and posting.

>using A.I.
>not thinking for yourself
You make Trixie sad.
As for your mind getting dumber: use it or lose it. You should know, if you don't already: a mind is a terrible thing to waste.
