Fun little fact about jains: they have an extremely restrictive diet, that aside from not allowing them to eat meat or eggs, also doesn't allow them to eat root vegetables, since doing so could hurt insects.

Recently, a bunch of Stanford students discovered they could get out of a mandatory $8000 / year meal plan by claiming to be Jains, since the university could not accommodate their religious diet... until the university decided to start accommodating them, so they can now continue to force their students to pay for an overpriced buffet ticket.
