This legitimately might be the worst TV match of the year, i can't believe i thought this was gonna be best weekly wrestling episode of the year after the opening segment. The worst part was the roster coming out to congratulate Darby as if he saved christmas or some shit.

This was actually good. The crowd was into it. Darby is hella over. A special edition of Dynamite. All goes down days before the fed has their biggest event of the year, which is shaping up to be utter garbage. Tony knew what he was doing.

I fully agree and I think it's going to fail spectacularly. It'll be news for the next few days. One Smackdown promo from McAfee will get all of the same people who have been pissed about that talking about it again and then boom. AEW's moment is over and done and on to the next thing. That's not to even mention that it's fucking Wrestlemania. Of COURSE people are going to be talking about that instead. This isn't even a console war take or post. It's just common sense

I don't think it will either. Just the timing is so suspect.

I never asked why you're calling it Wrestlemania week. You just referred to it as that because it is. It's Wrestlemania week. No matter what retarded short-sighted stunts Tony tries to pull. Nothing else in wrestling matters

No I'm talking about how it won't impact Wrestlemania. Because it won't. That's kinda been my point the entire time >>20250071

Who is even surprised at this point.
Tony wants AEW to get so bad that his Daddy forces him to cancel it because he's too much of a coward to fire all his lifelong "friends".
If you want Tony gone for good, I think I know a guy.

so when AEW eventually folds and WWE swoops in to buy it for cheap, will these title winners also be included in the world heavyweight lineage? cuz people still use Flair's WCW win when counting the number of WWE titles he's held.

Don't bother. The AEW cult is disingenous on purpose because they have no actual arguments. They know that, in reality, like 10x the people are paying 5x the money to see WWE over AEW and that settles any realistic argument over what show people care about more but if they sit in their echo chamber and ignore reality and deflect any criticism or statement to the contrary of their beliefs, well then AEW wins. We broke them, let them be.

I didn't ask if it was your problem. But you're saying that since the crowd reacted well to Darby winning that's all that's needed for it to be good. So surely you'd have no problem saying the McAfee stuff is good as well because the live crowds have been reacting strongly to that as well

15-20 minute main event with title change would actually spike ratings. 3 minutes of fast-forwarding through the show to watch the squash at the end isn't going to do anything for the numbers
Tony is retarded

I saw the ending sequence on social media and thought it looked really awesome and kino so I decided to check the whole thing out
I can't believe that was the whole match lol what the fuck, why did they do that. It was a sick finish and it being on a weekly show is kino but it definitely needed a real match

>>
>>
>>20250266
The problem with the McAfee promos is they're during Cody vs Orton which already has a built in story from those long history. But because the WWE writers don't actually watch WWE, or any wrestling, they created something wacky out of thin air. If McAfee was being used in something like an Uso match it would actually help. Cody vs Orton doesn't need help.

>the coffin drop would be a okay signature move but as a finisher it looks so weak
he used the coffin drop as a setup for the headlock takedown. he had been doing the scorpion dethlok and making ppl submit on most of this recent winning streak
>>
>>
>>20251761
>can't believe that was the whole match lol what the fuck, why did they do that
it's supposed to be that MJF is all worn out and fucked up cause he just had a match with Kenny, the best wrestler in the company, a few nights before

I gotta give it to dronies they really try their best to underplay cool hit that happens in AEW. It never works to deter people off the product, but man are they resilient. I hope they're at least getting paid to do it
>>
>>20252210
>Hotshotting a belt onto a guy in a squash against a guy who just beat every top name in the company and giving him his first world title like this
If that's the "cool hit" you're referring to then you can keep it. That shit sucks. Imagine if Stone Cold won his first world title like that. Hell imagine if that's how even Mankind won it. That shit is so empty. You know who that works for? Heels. That's how a heel should win a title. Because if Darby could have MJF beat and the world title won that easily this whole time then he looks like a motherfucking moron for having it taken him 6 years to do it
>>
>>20251851
Correlation and causation aren't the same thing. I'll be the first to tell you Sting absolutely is a draw. But I also don't see old man Sting being that big of a deciding factor in AEW's audience dropping off the way it did. There were other things that happened around that same point that Sting retired that must have driven away people as well

It doesn't matter what the story is, shit sucked massive balls. His crowning should've been after a long feud and long match, not on a weekly show and with a squash
Lame and gay, type of shit why no one cares about aew

AEW's audience has gotten very OLD, which is why Dynamite now consistently places outside of the Top 5 in the 18-49 demo when it used to consistently be Top 3. We used to get a cope 1-2 times a month to explain not being Top 3, now we get a cope 52 weeks of the year.

There's probably a dozen "right ways" to have done the title change and only a few wrong ways (dark match, house show, youtube mudshow indy fed) and this idea was more or less in the middle.
To the extent the goal was to squeeze out a few headlines during WrestleMania week, sure, basically every AEW World Title change will do that. But at what cost? If AEW was planning this for months, why Portland for next week's show and not somewhere in southern California, within driving distance of WrestleMania? Exactly 0 people are going to drive up from Vegas/SoCal to see newly-crowned champ Darby, so they're not getting an attendance boost out of it.
Darby got his moment, this will live on in video packages and the eventual Darby Allin AEW Blu-Ray. Good for him. But damn they left a lot of tickets, a lot of merch sales, a lot of YouTube views and MyAEW subscriptions and publicity on the table.

I think Tony doesn't care too much since this isn't going to be a long reign for Darby. He's obviously just keeping it warm for MJF; which I disagree with, but Tony has decided that MJF is his Flair (and Moxley his Funk) and that's it. Maybe/hopefully Darby's second win and reign will be the "real" ones.
