I had honestly expected the dystopian future to be more...futuristic and dystopian. It's boring as fuck out here. We need an actual Robocop, or at least some ED-309s at Walmarts.

What else did you want? Lightsabers and pew-pew lasers?

>mech patrols
This might actually start happening soon, I expect it to see it in 10 years or so. China already has police robots that roam the streets.

No one thinks they are living in a dystopia, it seems normal to them because it is.

Well, not necessarily lightsabers, but AT LEAST a sonic screwdriver or something. Shit, this is so boring; I can't even hack drones with my smartphone.

waaughh.

The future you expected usually happens after world catastrophe, which could be coming soon

>>84371438
Well, maybe the Post-Atomic Horror we see in Trek. This could be interesting.

Skill issue, this is theoretically possible, you just don't know how to do it.

probably for the best...

Which is why I always stop for them. Even when my bag only has 2-3 clearly visible items, I stop anyway.

China looks much more futuristic than the US, the issue you're having is that America has experienced brain drain and no longer knows how to make things.
>>

Getting mogged (to use a Zoomer phrase) by China isn't something I thought would happen, growing up.
>>
The future is here, it's just that some places have a lot more of it than others and some parts of it didn't turn out to be what we thought. There are people with cyborg hands, people with brain implants, AIs, robots, holograms and gene therapy. It's just that cyborg hands aren't actually a performance improvement, AI is cucked by corporate filters, holograms are too expensive for you to afford and gene therapy is a mass bioweapon injection.

>more...futuristic and dystopian
Well, we have:
>instant communication to any place in the world
>instant access to the biggest pool of information and misinformation ever constructed
>ability to create data our of basic prompts, both good and bad
>24/7 surveillance and chance of entrapment over nothing
>elite members of society completely outside of the touch of plebians
>manufactured economic downturn hidden by the think veil of political and social unrest

Not sure what you're complaining about

saw a webm on gif or b or some shit recently of one of these things hurling its self down a fucking escalator and taking out 2 people randomly from behind, in Japan btw. God the future looks so hilarious and stupid.

Secondly, I saw a video of a dude walking around with a bunch of random devices and wires duct taped together with a brief case and an actual working screen and he had wires duct taped to his debit card and he was going around stores getting free shit because they refused to accept his payment because they thought he was gonna hack them somehow.
People have ZERO faith in technology. You can duct tape monster cans to a motherboard attached to your debit card and it will literally spook people.

People are scared of technology that isn't presented as a white plastic egg dildo that requires an internet connection and locks you out if you modify it.

In cyberpunk 2077 you see jacked up techno cars which shows people can modify what they own, unlike real life. PEOPLE ARE AFRAID OF HUMAN CREATIVITY MAAAAAAAN

Anybody here built a cyberdeck? Some of them look really cool, but I wondered what advantage they have over a normal laptop/tablet.
