Redpill me on Angela Collier

I like her most of the time, except for when she does the intellectually lazy but popular twitter hate mob stuff, such as acting like AI is doing nothing but plagiarism and harmful confirmation bias and no one should ever use it

I use chatbots a lot, but simply because they often give better results than search engines. Not because I want them to complement me or reinforce my preconceived notions, and I get annoyed and tell them to stop when they do

her takes on ayn rand were retarded if not indicative that she never even read the very literature she was talking about, which is a huge red flag considering shes supposed to be a phd candidate. by the way, even the outspoken feminists who interpreted her work had a much more nuanced understanding.

I like her but she's wrong about a lot. So was I when I was 25. She reminds me of me quite a bit. I'm lucky YouTube wasn't a thing when I was 25 and all my retarded hot takes are just on the nsa email repository.

I never got the whole using ai as a therapist, using it to flatter you thing its literally just a tool you ask it to tell you what you need and cite the sources then you close the tab.
I have a feeling the people criticizing ai havent used the paid versions/haven't ever logged in to use the pro models and think theyre retarded when they can literally run code and use wolfram now.

She's the only physics youtuber who I've seen speak mostly accurately about physics. Some of her other opinions are a little normgroidal but overall I quite like her. She triggers a lot of people on 4chen as you can see.

The real redpill is that if you want to go into science but anything she says is surprising, you don't know enough. Of course humanoid robots are a fucking stupid idea if you think about it for more than two seconds and know the fist thing about batteries.
>>
>>16942651
Lets say hypothetically you have a budget of $500.
A humanoid robot costs $500 but so do the washing machine, autopilot subscription for a year, dishwasher, housemaid service for a year, lawn maintenance and snow removal.
You could either get one those or get a humanoid robot for about the same price that can do all of them.

You know how she has like a um...a butthole..? I want to be like, really deep in it. Like all the way into her small intestine. Like sucking on it for hours sort of stuff. I-I'd eat whatever comes out of it too and I'd like it! Yeah. So those are my thoughts! :)

Good enough that I still watch her.
Although her outlook on anything that's even remotely adjacent to Elon Musk is retarded.
I hate Musk like the next guy, but she has absurd confidence in her takes - and her takes is always that new tech is futile and doesn't work.
She also sees Nazis unironically everywhere. Even random physicists are suspected fascists for using German words in their papers.
>>
>>
>>16939403
she's somewhere near the mid 30s
>>16939306
tows the line on rational and political shit until [insert thing] that goes outside her scope of ability to nuance hits her interest.
a small nitpick as example: her video on flouride.
Nobody disagrees that brushing your teeth is a good thing. But all she did was go on and on about enamel mineralization while, probably intentionally, ignoring any discussion on anything to do with flouride's other researched effects and why most other countries have banned it.

Irrelevant. We are talking about whether she speaks accurately about physics. Furthermore, if you're talking about the Feynman video, she didn't say that.

>Seethes about JWST not being named after a scientist
James Webb contributed far more to the advancement of human spaceflight than any interchangeable scientist in recent memoryhas contributed to Astronomy. Scientific discoveries would likely be found by other scientists whereas there's an argument that if anyone else were NASA administrator the apollo programme may not have secured its funding.
This is just seethe from a low level scientist who has no career advancement ahead of them

dawg i don't care who she disavows, that would've been fine
like i said, she tried to set the precedent of REMOVING HIS NAME from his own work posthumously
no way in hell am i misremembering this
i don't give a shit about feynman personaly, and the video & "nuance-adding" was good

What is the point?
That it takes a comical amount of resource investment that only a civilization of Gods could build, but is talked up by "futurists" like it's a practical goal?
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>16952587
A Dyson Swarm is just observing the endless expansion and growth of civilisation and pushing it to the point of “where does this eventually end? What’s the furthest point we can get to before we have nowhere else to go?” And that’s the Dyson Swarm. Where a civilisation has grown to such a scale it has devoured every single resource in its entire star system.

>Blackpill me on Angela Collier
She just wants her piece of the $$$ pie. I don't think her channel is compelling enough to have any staying power. We'll know it's dying when she starts getting tattooed and flashing her hairy beaver.
>>
>>16939306
>goes on rant about thing
>instead of actually understanding a thing based on an unbiased position where nuance comes onto the table, veers off into pop-left-aligned political rambling and personal gripes

She may be the worst person in the Youtube "intellectual" space. Not just stupid, but an absolutely terrible person. Mean-spirited, petty, arrogant and self-centred.
It actually took quite a while after I came across her channel for me to realise she was the one from the 'Elevatorgate' flame war back in the day, but when I did it clicked immediately because that is exactly the kind of person she is; take a completely innocuous encounter and reframe it to make it look like she was victimized.
It is genuinely quite remarkable how she manages to have the wrong take on every single issue. Normally with left-wing commentators I have moments where I'm like: 'okay, I like them overall but I think they were wrong about this particular issue', or 'okay most of what this person says is way over the top but they're right about this issue'. Not her. She is the *worst*. She will even break from what other far leftists are saying just to find an even worse take.
She's like the Republican stereotype of an angry blue-haired leftist.
>>16939306
Knows her stuff, quite smart, but it is very clear that the main reason she got into astrophysics and went to all the trouble of getting a doctorate was so she could prove to everyone how smart she was and sneer at her intellectual inferiors. No love for the subject in its own right, it's all about ego. At least, that's the vibe I get from her channel. Most channels by scientists, it's like 'omg, look at this cool new discovery in my field', with her it's a mix of 'look at these stupid people getting it wrong', or 'let me show you how smart I am by explaining this astrophysics concept that inferior scientists are explaining wrong'. You know the type; maybe a milder version of Thunderfoot.
She's not stupid; I really liked her video on silicon-based life because she some hard science takes on the subject (although I'd still quibble with one or two points). But she feels like she'd be exhausting to be around irl.

she isnt a 4 objectively, 99% of this board is attracted to her so the men on here that have advanced degrees are usually 2 inchers with dysgenic genetics except for IQ and get horny for any chick that has regular features

From what I've seen, she knows a lot about physics and not much about anything else.
She did a video on the nobel prize for Insulin which was 90% good and then in the last 10% went on a hilariously stupid rant about how Big Pharma stole the patent for Insulin that Banting gave away for free and just charge money for doing nothing. This was AFTER she explained the Banting's original patent was for a method of extracting Insulin from dog pancreases and would be considered wildly unethical in today's world. Somehow those wires didn't connect in her head that modern insulin production is nothing like it was back then, or that corporations don't actually patent insulin itself, but production methods and medical formulations. She has lefty slop brain.
>>
>>16956201
>so she could prove to everyone how smart she was and sneer at her intellectual inferiors
This is the correct reason to dislike her. She's haughty and mean spirited, and it comes across in her videos loud and clear no matter the topic.

AI produces negative results in whatever situation, industry, or arena you put it in. It's idiot boxes specifically for idiots.
>>
>>
>>16957440
Bingo.
She's clearly been telling herself since undergrad that the reason no one likes her is because she's a woman in a man's field and all the fragile male egos can't handle how smart she is, when in fact the reason no one likes her is just that she's condescending and self-centered. Ironically she's just the female version of arrogant, socially awkward male scientist she spends so much time seething over.

>>16943949
I didn't talk about anything. I don't care how correct she is about physics. Its easy to be correct about something you study your whole life. The real deal is when it comes to original thoughts which, in her case, is "cancel this dead guy he made me feel insecure". Absolutely retarded woman
>>
To all the horny freaks in this thread, SHE DOESN'T WANT YOU!! And always remember, whether it's an elevator ( >>16956028 / >>16956201 ) or a classroom, talking to a woman about shared interests alone is sexual harassment!
>>
>>
>>16958167
Yeah, that's another thing I've noticed about her: totally lacking in empathy. For people in general, but especially men.
>he knew it was inappropriate or he wouldn't have waited until we were alone
Or, he didn't want to make himself vulnerable in front of everyone, in case she shot him down. But she's never had to ask anyone else out before, so it doesn't occur to her that maybe he was just nervous; he *must* have been trying to get her alone to be nefarious.
Every time she describes an interaction she's had with another person, her understanding of the other person's motivations and inner thoughts seems to be her trying to find the most negative explanation possible rather than, like, just trying to put herself in their shoes. She isn't as bad as >>16956028 (who is clearly grifting as well as permanently butthurt) but she's definitely one of that set of Millennial women whose dominance of social media is the main reason dating - and frankly every other human interaction - is so toxic nowadays.
There are a lot of Millennial women whose standards for their own behavior are based on coastal, left-wing feminist values while their standards for other people's behavior towards them is based on conservative, red-state religious values. She can be as obnoxious and inconsiderate as she pleases because she's a strong, empowered woman and society has to deal with her as she is, but all the men around her had better treat her like she's a 19th century Southern debutante; do not even allude to sex in any context, only make advances in a formal, gentlemanly manner, and always be sure to step in should anyone else say something crass in her presence.
My guess is that she was raised in a red state then moved to a blue state for college, or maybe a blue area of a red state; I think a lot of this problem comes from women raised in conservative environments moving to liberal areas and adapting to the culture change by cherry picking the bits they like from each.

I kind of like that women like her are selecting themselves out of the gene pool. Not every woman with a PhD is determined to make all human relationships as difficult as possible, and it's the easy-going ones who are breeding the next generation of academics. Nature is healing itself.
>>
>>16939306
watched a couple videos and those were enough to notice:
> she's anti-AI meaning she CANT be that intelligent
> according to her everybody talking about corruption in academia is just a bitter loser grifter (Sabrina Hofsteder, Eric Weinstein etc)
so that makes it hard to take her takes seriously

THIS. It's the case with all YouTubers whether it's:
- movie reviewers (film school drop outs/unemployed in their field and refuse to take other jobs)
- lawyers (disbarred or inexperienced)
- science "communicators" (too lazy to finish a PhD/university drop outs thinking they're hot shit)
- history/engineering (Wikipedia readers, typically same as above)
>>
>>
>>16959090
Why? It's literally being used to make scientific advancements by being able to come up with new ideas/concepts for humans to then consider since it has a bigger pool of information/knowledge to draw upon than any one human ever had.
