Depends who's available and it all rides on Seixas as things stand but he seems happy and he's built good relationships within his team from what I heard. Lipowitz is tied up with red bull but he's not that level. Currently there are no other riders that show that sort of ability other than Seixas. Burrito looks promising but he seems inconsistent and quite retarded. He's not empirical like poogacar either so he's not really a successor.
Agian it all lies on Seixas and Decalthon are obliged to offer him whatever he wants and continue to build a strong squad around him. Their performance is way better now than previously so they're definitely proving themselves as a very viable team. Add to that they are French and French cycling was in crisis for years, Seixas also should feel obligation to stay with them and win the tour with a french team.

van der Poel deserved it more. Van Aert fans are insufferable. But Roubaix is luck-based, thus van Aert wins it, while van der Poel is 4th, despite van der Poel being hands down the vetter runner.
Ronde is more predictive of runner quality, as shown by its podium this year.

Pogi had a flat, car right behind him, 10 s gap.
Wout flat, car further back, 30s gap.
Jappe shouldn't be riding the prototype pedals knowing well that he's the most likely to be close to mvdp.
If Wout was,'t good he wouldnt be in Pogi's wheel and Matje could close the gap against solo Pogi.
You can find reasons for 1 or the other everywhere. In the end it's part of cyclismo and it was a great race with a winner that deserved it.

they all deserved it really, pogacar suffered just as much as mvdp because he had lots of mechanicals, had to burn up most of his team to get back and do a big pull himself, and then florian vermeersch chuted in the arenberg forest so he didn't have a trusted helper late in the race
i think it's the first time mvdp had a race-affecting mechanical in paris roubaix as far as i can remember (crevaisons are partly a skill issue so thats why vdp probably has so few of them)

Love it when the slavs cope about their boy not winning. The arrogance and entitlement of it. Van Aert also had to chase back on when poogacar was in front, it's all a muchness really. Other than Van Der Poel, the results were very accurate in terms of the best on the day.
>>
>>154208042
Don't take me for some blind Pogacar fan. He was not the favourite today, and I agree with this prediction. It is that van der Poel did not even podium is what shows Roubaix should be taken more as proof of luck, than of runner quality.
Compare with Lombardia: whoever wins it, is more likely to be the best at climby classics, than the winner of Roubaix is at flat cobbles. The top 10 at Lombardia will be highly correlated with the top climbers in the race. More predicatable, yes, but also thus better evidence of rider capability.

Ganna was really unlucky today. Oh wait actually he sat at the back like a fucking moron constantly, got caught out, road through puddles of glass and finished 8 minutes down. Luck is such a cope. Roubaix is an IQ and test of determination.

Kudos to WvA, no doubt. He really deserves this win, even though I was cheering for Pogacar and felt a bit sad that he didn't win this one. Specially that we will not have another opportunity of a rider winning all 5 in one season in many years to come, or maybe never again.
I wonder now if Paris-Roubaix will be the new Milan-Sanremo to Pogi. Trying every year untill he wins.
He is still on track to win 4 monuments in one season, and that also never happened in cycling history.

I would take Pogacar coming in 3rd, just so it is not van Aert one of those who beats him. van der Po was clearly the best runner in the race, but his timeloss was much greater due to where he suffered a flat, an event that can't be influenced by skill and capabilities, but is instead down to pure luck.
>>
>>
One of the best races of the modern era.
>>154215573
>t. Slovenian
Wout is top tier and won fair and square. Alpecin was extremely foolish to use mismatched experimental cleats, and both MVDP and Tadej’s experimental setups proved detrimental (both sh*mano)
>>
>>
>>
>>154215573
cycling isn't purely about who does the most watts per kg. If it was, it would be extremely boring to watch, which it increasingly is because everyone rides looking on their power meter.
Cycling is also about tactics and having a bit of luck. Yesterday luck was on Wout's side and deserved the win. He made the race and he played out his tactical leverage on Pogashart to perfection
>>
>>154215670
>>154215683
The drivetrain didn't cause him issues and neither did the big tires. He got a couple of punctures but that's just luck in Roubaix.

Fun is when result matches capabilities. Last year was so, van der Poel avoided crashes, but Pogacar did not, and avoiding crashes is a skill. This year where runners' tires got flats was decisive, but avoiding flats on narrow cobbled secrions is not a skill.

>>154215890
I don't think it's a coincidence that MVDP is usually so lucky in not gtting flats. Even yesterday he did only have issues on Arenberg, I think there is some skill in being able to not ride in the parts of the roads with least chance of flatting

Last year Wout had a flat in Arenberg iirc. I think that's why he was ripping it up in the front yesterday. If you take the lead on that section, you can anticipate the worst bumps and control your speed and you can't get fucked by riders in front of you crashing or doing silly stuff.
>>
>>154215973
I would like to see comparative statistics between last year and this one 2bh. maybe number of mechanicals were roughly the same, but favorites were more affected this year. it did seems like this year flat galore was rather unusual.

Poogacar is sensationalist slop for commentators and non fans who don't sit through 4hr stages. Wout gave us a day of entertainment yesterday. He was aggressive, he shaped the race and then won the sprint in brilliant fashion. Breath of fresh air. That's the sort of thing poogacar has deprived the fans of the last 6 years.

>>154216074
they just need to alter the route a little. skip some of the pavé and do a little loop around Mont Cassel/Mont Noir instead. It's called the hell of the north after all so going even more northern just makes the race more authentic. you could put up some VIP tents on these hills and get some drone footage and really make the race come alive for fans

Thinking about it more, it is actually that the clearly weaker runner was the one who beat Pogacar today. Had vdP won yesterday, it would be interpreted as Pogacar losing on skill and capability. But with mere van Aert beating Pogacar, and vdP not even podiuming, future historians of road cycling, will correctly interpret this Roubaix as coming down to luck.
The biggest immediate loser is of course vdP, but he too will benefit from this future judgement.

You do not pull hard with that rider on your wheel, much less if you have a strong sprinter behind. He rode the race in a perfect manner and also had a mishap which poogacar made sure to make count by pulling hard to ensure it was harder for him to return. Wout was hands down the strongest on the day. His team played well, he put in a great performance and showed tactical composure. If you think it's slurpy, then maybe you can slurp the sub saharan cum off urska's cunt along with poogacar. Do not try to downplay this victory.

Not sure if you guys can help. I'm looking to buy a bike for my 3 year old. At first I thought I'd piece together a build, but it seems like the most expensive option the more I research. Would picrel be good for a first bike? So I go with a coaster brake or hand brake?

This is one of the rare times I saw a rider actually accepting a shimano bike.
I don't understand why so many will rather stand there, and wait 2 minutes for their car. I understand it's not optimal if it's not your bike, but any bike is still faster than you standing there waiting.
>>
>>154219866
I don't see why not. There are loads of different bikes on the market. That seems fine for the motion and balance. You could get a balance bike like >>154219884 but they are much cheaper than that pic. Remember they'll grow out of it very quickly, so it might be worth investigating a second hand bike but they are not super cheap because they tend to be in good condition, again because they're not used a lot because of the age. By the time they're 5 make sure they've got gears though, it makes it a lot more fun for a kid. Frog Bikes is a great brand if you can get them in america. They're in my opinion the best kids bikes.
>>
>>
>>154219437
It's actually true that women are better in endurance. But we're talking very long, like quadruple marathon long. Their intensity is low though. So it takes a long time for the men to start falling off.
Else women would be riding the same distances than men, but they don't, they get junior distances.
If you're planning to ride around Europe with your bike, she'll be crying in the beginning and you will be crying by the end.
>>
>>
>>154219866
Why in god's holy name would anyone be so fucking retarded to buy a brand new bike for a 3 year old.
The kid doesn't give a fuck about how fancy it looks, he's 3. And the fucker will grow out of it in a few years anyways.
Just get any 2nd handed or flee market stuff.
Paypiggy's are the worst.
>>
>>
>>154220155
Don't forget you're european and 300 euro is a lot to us. That bike costs fuck all for most americans. And honestly this would be the first thread on this site that I'd image would recommend getting a decent kids bike so the kid can enjoy cycling. I would happily spend 400 on a kids bike if I knew it'd give them a better experience. Don't be so cynical and heartless.
>>
>>
>>154220199
My dad got me a rusty old bike basic bike without gears, from the street when I was 6. He painted it and put racing handlebars on it.
I enjoyed the fuck out of it. Rode the Kemmelberg for the first time on that bike.
All a kid needs to imagine he's a cyslist is handlebars. Just like i'd imagine being a motorcycle with a playing card in my spokes.

>Paul Seixas, a matter of state: Macron would convince him to renew with Decathlon and reject UAE, in a similar operation to Mbappé's with PSG
>Emmanuel Macron reportedly became deeply involved. As Eurosport Spain learned during the Itzulia Basque Country race , the President of the French Republic offered his full support to the Decathlon team for the contract renewal , and also spoke directly with the manager of the Lyon-born rider, who in turn is demanding a strong team around him. The salary of his new contract is unknown, but it will place him among the highest-paid riders in the peloton, not far from the eight million euros earned by Tadej Pogačar.

If they're reasonably fit and you're not racing bikes you can most likely do Z2 rides with your gf no problem. They might have to draft you, especially on headwind stretches for the pace to be good for both. I've had really good rides with my mom and dad. My dad can keep up with a normal bike on flat ground and with both of them on ebikes there's no problem riding up mountains. With ebikes they're the ones that have to slow down on climbs. The first time we were on a ride like that my mom did a sulphurous pull on the first climb, I was doing over 500 W to keep up in her draft until she slowed down. Up the rest of the climb I was doing 5 W/kg and she was leisurely riding her 20 kg upright ebike next to me without breaking a sweat.

Yeah, even skinny riders like Parete Paintre or however it's spelt have surprising strength for their weight. Then the likes of Jonas are damn strong despite being small. End of the day you need the strength to push 450 watts to begin with. I doubt many running have raw strength to put that out for any meaningful period, maybe 2 minutes. Yet they run close to 2hr marathons. I saw a guy who was a 2hrs 20 maraton runner from Britain or Ireland and he did 300w for an hour which is really good considering his background. But he was quite tall and slightly broader than most runners so realistically he's probably built for cycling.

We had heaps of them come into buy bikes because they have holiday homes here. When arabia is 50c in the summer. They'd buy expensive bikes for themselves and their kids. Dudes would come in as a group to buy expensive road bikes. I remember one group laughed at their friend because got got a 6k bike on finance. They love their cycling, at least these arabs did. One dude I saw a few times in the fancy gym I used to go to. Apparently he'd have to wake up at 4am to go riding in whatever arab country he was from because it was the only time they could sensibly ride over there. Not many expensive houses in my town and many are owned by arabs so they're only occupied a few months a year. Girl I went to school with was raped and murdered in one by the housekeeper whilst they were away and rotted in the attic. But yeah, arabs seem like like cycling a lot and the ones that don't seem to love pizza and fast food.

A race-worn jersey of Tadej Pogačar from Milano–Sanremo has just been sold for €95,100, placing it among the most valuable cycling jerseys ever sold.
Tadej will personally match the amount, bringing the total impact to €190,200 — all going to support children and young people facing serious illness through the Tadej Pogačar Foundation.
The winning bidder, Karl McDonnell, will receive the jersey in person at the Pogi Challenge in Slovenia — a moment that will make this story even more special.
