if I'm Lancia and I'm eyeing a push into WRC1 next season with that Ypsilon I definitely try to go and pluck Thierry from Hyundai. The talent is there, it's just the manufacturer is such a shitshow. I think with Neuville, Rossel, and Gryazin they could be competitive for a manufacturers title under the new specs.

And another stat:
Paddon's co-driver John Kennard, 67 ,is the oldest one to make it to podium in WRC, with his first WRC podium being in 1988 at Rally New Zealand with Audi Coupé Quattro.

>if I'm Lancia and I'm eyeing a push into WRC1
It's already shocking Stellantis are putting any money into rallying at all, I can't see them doubling their efforts.
The have borderline zero investments in their Lancia brand road cars, and the amount they're selling is laughable as a result of that.

>It's already shocking Stellantis are putting any money into rallying at all,
why? citroen is here since 2002
The surprising thing is that they are actually investing in rallying with 3 brands, Lancia, Peugeot and Opel
They are still doing that german electric rally cup with the electric corsa and they are producing a Rally4 Opel and Peugeot still

Who are the favourites for ERC this year? Marcyk again? Mabellini in the Lancia? Suninen?

Surprisingly few Yarises too. Philip Allen is in one though which sounds like a horrible accident waiting to happen.

as it should be. I hate 4 week and longer gaps in the calendar.
I really do hope with the possibility of having shorter format rallies and cars being significantly cheaper, we will get a calendar expansion

Just baseless speculation, but I wonder about Ott working tightly with Taka... is he aiming for a managerial position in Toyota? He's a famous people-person, lol, but maybe he's more mellow behind the scenes than behind the wheel. Why Katsuta, why Toyota? Why not do a solid for Malcolm, or stay back and support Hyundai, or work more tightly with the upcoming Estonians?
Ott being an element in Toyota winning over Hyundai 2x now with Katsuta ahead of 4maux in Kenya, and now winning Croatia (although Pajari was hounding the podium anyway) is making me think that he might know that Hyundai isn't there as a manufacturer in 2027, or that Hyundai's future really is so uncertain that he doesn't see himself driving there (or anywhere at all) in the near future.

Lmao, literally a few hours later out comes the news:
https://dirtfish.com/rally/wrc/tanak-takes-on-toyota-testing-role/
>In a sensational return to the Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team, Ott Tänak has started working on the development of the Japanese manufacturer’s 2027-specification car.
>>
>>154254487
nice
as the manufacturers will need to offer their cars for sale, I hope he will run one for himself with redgrey

>>
>>154251539
desu I dont think hyundais biggest problems could be fixed by ott. One is the issue of no long term security for the team with hyundai management only extending the program year by year, the other is that due to testing restrictions and the retard token system they were never able to outdevelop toyota and were always behind
