Seriously though: He literally spent a single season at one club, often on the bench. Then was loaned out or changed teams. Rinse and repeat.

No. Anyone who followed one of the few teams he actually got to play for would know him by name. Otherwise you'd have seen him in a random Champion's League or WC game in the mid-00s, but not have had any reason to take note or remember him. Literally one of hundreds of goalies you'd see in international football.
Which doesn't mean he had no career, just not the kind of career that would make him famous with anyone but his clubs' superfans.
