What's the best version of Buffy and Angel to get? I know there's the bluray/remasters, which are universally hated, there was a fan-made AI upscale, which looks weird to me, and there was a widescreen version released a while back with better picture quality, but people disliked it because you could see stuff like stuntmen and extras in the edges of the picture iirc

Another thing you have to watch out for is that the audio on most BDs and some DVDs is slightly SPED UP. I shit you not. You can tell in some episodes like the one where they sing and Spike sounds like a eunuc...

This isn't HD. But it's authentic. In a world full of slop peddlers that's the bare minimum. If you want it upscaled you can do your own upscaling, You'll probably want to source the original DVDs for that, not encodes like these. That's another discussion. Framerate should be 100% correct as well so the audio issues the other anon mentioned should be absent, NTSC source.
