Make an archetype based around the Dominus cards.

Dominus Emperor
>[Normal Trap Card]
You can activate this card the turn that it is Set. Declare 1 Attribute; Special Summon this card as an Effect Monster (Fiend/Level 8/ATK 3000/DEF 0)(this card is NOT treated as a Trap), and if you do, this card's Attribute becomes that declared Attribute. You can banish 1 monster from your GY, face-down, whose Level is less than or equal to 8; this monster's name and Level becomes that monster's original name and Level, and replace this effect with that monster's original effects, also for the rest of this Duel, you cannot activate the effects of monsters with that same name, unless their original name is "Dominus Emperor". You can only use each effect of "Dominus Emperor" once per turn.

I can't make a full archetype around it, so I just made one boss monster for it instead.

The basic idea is that it plays around the Dominus series' Attribute locks (you can just declare DIVINE if you don't want to use one that isn't covered) and also lets you use SOME monsters' effects while potentially under every Dominus lock by means of effect duping. I know that effect duping is dangerous, but on top of Konami generally not giving a shit about how broken their own cards are, I feel like I gave it a pretty sufficient level of restrictions (no Xyz/Links, no high-level monsters, the level is also duped which slightly reduces FTK potential, that card is fully unable to be used unless Dominus Emperor is using it).
>>
>>97818383
Perhaps a more reasonable version

Dominus Emperor
>[Level 8/DARK/Fiend]
>[ATK 3000/DEF 0]
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned by the following effect. If a "Dominus" card has been activated during this turn, or the previous turn, you can Special Summon this card from your hand, and if you do, you can make this card's Attribute become any Attribute of your choice. You can only Special Summon "Dominus Emperor" once per turn this way. You can target monsters on the field, up to the number of "Dominus" cards in your GY: Those monsters' Attributes become this monsters' Attribute. You can only use this effect of "Dominus Emperor" once per turn.

Same intent, less dangerous (no effect duping)

Can someone please explain how do mitsurugi prayers work?
Do you have to declare if you do one effect or both in activation or in resolution?
Also how do the effects work with handtraps? can they ash you if you only activate the 2nd effect? or the opposite with bell, can you activate the 2nd effect under droll?
>>
>>97821293
>Do you have to declare if you do one effect or both in activation or in resolution?
You have to declare the effect that you want to apply at resolution, if you did not tribute a monster when you activated the card.
>Activate card. At this point, you can optionally tribute a monster
>Effect resolves; Declare which effect you want to apply if you did not tribute a monster. Apply the Add effect first if you did, then the Summon effect since they're applied sequentially.

>can they ash you if you only activate the 2nd effect?
Both of the bullet points are part of the (1) effect of the card (in the OCG they number the effects on their cards instead of the thick thighs pussy salad bullshit we vomit onto our cards). Ash Blossom can be activated, regardless of which one you choose.

>can you activate the 2nd effect under droll?
Yes
>>
>>97821293
You have to declare whether you tribute as soon as you activate the card and you can always Ash or Belle the card regardless of which effect they use or whether they tribute or not.
>>
>>97821325
>in the OCG they number the effects on their cards
Here's a very crude visualization of it for Mitsu Prayers. On their cards it's always
>Various conditions and HOPT effects first (these are not numbered)
>Number
>Effect
>Number
>(...)

Their cards are super fucking legible since they aren't just words awkwardly sharted onto the cards. Makes you wish we had that in the TCG when you become aware of it.
>>
>>97821325
>>97821332
I get that I can tribute as soon as I activate it (or not)
But if I activate it with tribute, then chain bulshit happens, when prayers is resolving, that's the point where I can choose what effect to do (in case something happens in between the activation and resolution that makes one of the effects more desirable than the other) or do I have to say which one will I do the moment I activate it (like with ritual)
>>
>>97821377
>>97821325
Mitsu Ritual states
>Activate one of these effects
Mitsu Prayers states
>Apply one of these effects

The reason you need to declare which effect you're applying with Mitsu Ritual is because you're selecting the effect when you activate the card, while Mitsu Prayer strictly works during resolution.
>>
>>97821402
(Also like I mentioned in an earlier post, you declare the effect for Prayer during resolution).

I'm a boomer-ass unc returning to the game and asked you little shits for some advice running maliss a few weeks ago. Most of my cards have arrived finally, but I'm still working on filling out my extra deck. A lot of lists I'm seeing online have Link Spider in the ED, and I'm not understanding why because it needs Normal monsters to summon and none of the decks have normal monsters in them. Why is Link Spider being run in that case?
>>
>>97821659
In case you get Nibbed. It's a Cyberse link you can make with the token to allow you to keep playing.
Cards like Back-up and Wizard @Ignister need you to have a cyberse monster summoned from the ED on field to activate their effects in hand and monsters like Wicckid or Splash Mage(rip) need Cyberse monsters as material.

Been working on a yugioh based ttrpg on and off.
Uses cards as spells and stat blocks, relatively simple mechanics, characters can cast spells summon monsters and do a bit of fighting themselves. Mana is limited but recharges somewhat quickly. Mostly inspired by the pharaoahs memories story arc so sort of balanced up to the legacy of darkness/labyrinth of Nightmareperiod of cards.

Check it out and let me know what you think.

Is maliss even worth considering without march hare?
Everything else in the deck is really cheap, only backup @ignister is a bit expensive (and hopefully impulse will go down)
>>
>>97827607
Of course not, that card is literally the only thing keeping the deck afloat. People seldom take it to YCS these days (0.1% usage iirc), but the insane amount of bodies it can put out (which means shitting out generic cyberse toolbox monsters) is its main appeal, and it's all facilitated by march hare and backup secretary.

It'd be like wanting to play dracotail after RA05 with just faimena and the cheap cards, but no lukias, phryxul and arthalion.

hi yugiohbros, magic refugee here fleeing the endless waves of crossoverslop and getting into yugioh for the first time since i was 7 years old. im planning on purchasing the 2026 legendary decks starter and ive started playing master duel, but i have some questions. I built an ancient gear deck based on one that supposedly got to master rank in the ranked ladder (i dont have all the handtraps yet though because master duel makes crafting ultra rares a limited thing), but every game i've been completely obliterated turn 1 by insane combos that i cant stop (pic related, red supernova dragon alone was impossible for me to kill because of its effects). where am i going wrong here, and is the entire main format meta really this insanely combo oriented? are there no midrange and control decks like there are in magic? if not, are there not alternate formats that slow the game down and make it more interactive? it seems like even something simple like limiting special summons to 3 a turn would fix a lot of the issues. anyway, how can i improve and make sure i dont lose every game turn 1, what are the best starter products to buy for someone looking to build a semi-competitive deck for cheap, and what other advice do you guys have?

Do you have the other staples in that list like Lightning Storm, Triple Tactics Talent, Triple Tactics Thrust, and Forbidden Droplet? Something like Droplet for example would win this duel on it's own if you opened it.

So here's the thing, the deck you're going up against isn't a meta tiered deck, there's tons of these kinds of wombo combo decks like this but they die to so many staple cards. I know it sucks to hear because of how UR inflated things are in MD, but if you had that 1 Maxx C, 3 Fuwalos, and 3 Purulia in your deck that Syncho bullshit deck literally would not be able to do anything if you drew those cards

In general in Yugioh as you climb the ranks you see more midrange and control strategies. One of the absolute best decks right now is Dracotail and it's like, one of the most mid range decks that has ever existed in YGO

This is also why limiting special summons doesnt really work as a solution, because there's a lot of really good decks that don't special summon much at all (Dracotail usually only does like 3) but all that is besides the point

In reality decks like the one you faced aren't really that common, you see them at the low ranks because they're a deck an anime protagonist used (for whatever reason like all the anime protags used giga cancer combo decks)
And sometimes you'll run into them and not open the right cards and that's that, but I can assure you if your deck was fully pimped out with all those UR cards in that M1 deck that duel would have been a lot more playable

The most important thing right now I would say is for you to prioritize getting Maxx C, and 3 copies of Fuwalos. Those cards are designed to help stop giga combo decks like the one you faced. If you want to keep playing Ancient Gear then Forbidden Droplet is also super important but there are also slower decks you can play if you'd like
Try to get these bundle deals if you can, they're great for new players to get staple cards
>>
>>97829391
>>97829897
also if you want to play some slower decks I can give you suggestions if you'd want. Sky Striker for example is a control deck and one of the decks in the Legendary Modern set you purchased, so if you wanted to play something slower while also learning about the deck you purchased, that could be a good option.
>>
>>97829897
i didnt see these, thanks for bringing them to my attention; i'll get them now
>>
>>97829391
There's varying degrees of how combo oriented things are. The type of combo you are dealing with in the image you posted tends to end up more common in the lower ranks, as a bit of a quirk of the game.
These decks are often "All or Nothing" where they either go off fully or can't go off at all. Handtraps kill them, but going second board wipes can have difficulty. Though if you do Crack their board, they often expended too much to rebuild a board.
At higher ranks, you see this less often as while some can get very strong when uninterrupted, you can also break them more as they lean towards consistent rebuilding over X number of omni-negates.
You can still get stuck with bad games, but the >>97829402 Ancient Gear list gets better there as it is more tuned to these higher levels.
>>
My friends and some coworkers and getting the 2002 packs and doing a tourney. Everytime we do one we'll add a couple more packs. Gonna be a complete mess, I'm excited
>>
>>97829391
>where am i going wrong here,
Lack of handtraps like you mentioned. It isn't mandatory to run them, but they are how you interact with your opponent when they go first. Only other way would be blowout going-second cards or kaijus/kaiju-likes (the Kaiju series, Lava Golem, Sphere Mode, etc).

>are there no midrange and control decks like there are in magic?
People typically combine Control(Control) with Stun(Stax) in this game. Purest Control decks would probably be Radiant Typhoon or Sky Striker. You could also run Runick as a Control deck if you forego the floodgates(stun cards). It's a true-blue control deck that exiles your opponent's deck when their effects resolve, where your win condition is to deck out your opponent or make them ragequit.

>and is the entire main format meta really this insanely combo oriented?
Slightly less than what you were playing against? That's a Stardust/Synchron deck at a glance, and that deck is characterized by its obnoxious combos.

>it seems like even something simple like limiting special summons to 3 a turn would fix a lot of the issues
It would actually make the game nigh-unplayable. Even a lot of weaker and casual decks need to special summon-- including Ancient Gear. Best options to counter that as of now are cards like Nibiru (tributes the entire field after their 5th summon) or Maxx "C"/Fuwalos (draw cards when your opponent special summons). The latter two are more common since there isn't really a context where you want your opponent to draw cards... save maybe for the matchup you were in, where they CAN summon enough to force you into deckout.

Combo Decks are the devil. Decks that combo are not. Knowing is half the battle.

Not even rogue tier? sadge
I liked the aesthetic and I love the works of Lewis Carroll so maybe I'll do it just for that

I was also considering exosister but idk if it can survive blazing dominion format

>It'd be like wanting to play dracotail after RA05 with just faimena and the cheap cards, but no lukias, phryxul and arthalion.
Dracotail has no $17 cards lmao
It's also generic enough so you can run a small (and cheap) package in most decks without any locks
>>
>>97829391
One of the most core things that you must understand about Yugioh is that it is not Magic: the Gathering. This may sound like an insanely obvious thing to say, but there is a tiny voice that people always compare other card games rules and design as descendants of Magic and this comes with many assumptions of how they are supposed to play. And this can be an issue with Yugioh because it drew very little from Magic and then went on a drastically different evolutionary path of rules and general design.

This isn't to say throw out all knowledge. Card Advantage, for instance, is still a major skill. But you also want to take Yugioh as being its own beast. Best to take it as it is rather than make assumptions on how things are supposed to be.

Though as several anons are saying, low tier Master Duel is also some of the worst versions of Yugioh, and that's on top of Master Duel itself having a poor format in general as it has a bunch of cards banned in paper allowed to run free.

>what are the best starter products to buy for someone looking to build a semi-competitive deck for cheap, and what other advice do you guys have?
Legendary Modern Decks 2026. People have won tournaments by combining 1 box's Mitsurugi and Sky Striker decks with some of the staples from the X-Saber one. Sky Striker can reach its full power if you get some other staples, and Mitsurugi can be mixed with a ton of other decks.
X-Saber is being explored a bit for the Genesys alt!format and can be useful for building a deck for the historic format of Edison, but its generally the weakest precon/archetype which is why it was given the best staples.
>>
>>97829391
These kinds of decks are a meme, they either fold to one handtrap in particular (fuwalos/droll) or 2 in quick succession, so you only really get to see them in the lower ranks.
Platinum and above is where the real game starts, and people there favor decks with a lower ceiling, but more consistency.

The deck you're trying to build opts for running boardbreakers instead of handtraps, but the average board of a meta deck tends to be multilayered ie they have more stuff on hand and GY so a lightning storm-droplet for 3-5 then summoning a starter doesn't mean game over for them.
I suggest building gem knight instead, it's also a going second deck but it's far stronger than AG.
>what are the best starter products to buy for someone looking to build a semi-competitive deck for cheap?
A single copy of legendary modern decks ($35) will give you mitsurugi and sky striker, both of which are meta, tier 2 and 3 respectively. They're not complete out of the box, but you don't need to invest a lot on them, sky striker in particular only asks for $25 worth of singles (3 fallen and the virtuous, 3 radiant typhoon vision, 2 albion, 1 MST and a couple singles from the same box you already have) to be at (near) full power.
>>
>>97831252
It can still randomly top YCSes and is strong for locals, so I'd put Maliss at rogue. And due to how it works, it generally just promises to inevitably get better because it really synergizes with the general cyberse toolbox. It's just been hit hard enough that its no longer full power/top of the meta.
>>
>>97831252
White binder is maliss' strongest card and she's banned in TCG. Still, be it TCG, OCG or MD, the deck is nothing without march hare and backup secretary.
>>
>>97831432

https://ygoprodeck.com/deck/ignister-maliss-703661

Pure version is certainly dead, but it can be mixed with other strategies as a supplementary engine and do some good work, especially at more standard regionals or locals.

"rogue" is not a power level. They are decks that see fleeting tournament representation. If you want to build a rogue deck, look up rogue decks.

>>
>>97831877
If you really want either blue eyes or charmers go with blue eyes and get primite reprints
Tbh there are other rogue decks in a similar price range that are x1000 times better than both of those, but you'd have to hunt the singles (or get them online)

I wouldn't recomend that, you'll get a lot of useless bulk, just get 1 of them and the singles you need to complete the deck

Hi newfag here
I haven't played Yu-Gi-Oh cards since primary school back in 2007
But I think I would like to star collecting before Logan Paul blows this game's card prices
What PSA 10 cards do you recommend will have good value in the future?
>>
>>97833006
None. Unlike most other games, this one has a very aggressive reprint policy that basically ensures that every card's value will nosedive as soon as they're reprinted. You could maybe try for the upcoming overframes since those are more-or-less tailored for collectors, but Logan Paul's efforts to hijack this game will not succeed.

I'll never understand why people thought it was unrealistic for Mai to be corrupted by the power of the Orichalchos and I chalk it down to the fanbase (gooners) grossly not understanding how much of an aggressively sub optimum duelist Mai actually is since if you look at her character objectively, Mai only wins duels against duelists worse then her (Rex). Also, Mai's personality is all over the place. I can even prove it. In Duelist Kingdom, Mai has zero optimism at Yugi's chances for beating Weevil until he outsmarts Weevil and Mai starts coping with this stating how it was "luck" so to prove her "theory" correct she demands an immediate duel with Joey that she loses which she also claims was caused by Luck. She then manipulates Rex later in the afternoon to duel Joey which Joey wins again according to her "thru luck" but then tries to act like she's part of the squad because she has access to food and water but still feels the need to belittle them. Even when Yugi won her starchips back she is still in the belief she's a better duelist then Yugi until Yugi brute forces thru her misplay and then surrenders near the end of the duel because she feels like she doesnt have the motivation to muscle thru whats left of the duel.

Battle City happens and you can just tell she is only in this tournament as an excuse to show off "her growth" only to demonstrate what we've already known which is Mai is only good against duelists with zero actual plot importance. She enters one Shadow game and this shit literally makes her never wanna touch this game again. Like no one calls into question the emotional and psychological damage a shadow game does to a person and how Joey and Yugi are used to this but Mai feels angered she just "has to be" use to this when medically she was announced dead for most of the tournament

So yes, I do believe a dumb bitch like Mai immediately jumped on Dartz dick and joined his crew because she's mad she wants to be a better duelist but cant.

Shut the fuck up, faggot. Mai is best girl and one of the better-written characters in the show. She represents what a true competitive duelist has to be to become great. She’s confident, never gives up, and helps her friends and rivals improve so she can improve as well. Nothing wrong in wanting to be better at what you love doing. Some of you fags in this hobby need that kind of character, especially considering how quickly you quit or give up on ygo the moment things become too complicated.

Now, Konami seriously needs to announce better Harpie support now that Feather Storm has been banned. I unsleeved my max rarity Harpie deck last week and it felt bad. Full art Harpie support announcement would be amazing.

You should be looking for a gun to put in your mouth and preferably use buckshot because you might miss with how small your brain is.
Slabs are a scam to anyone not in the loop of money laundering. Where they throw around bullshit values like "$30,000" for a card that's maybe worth $30 because it's an asset with "no set value". There's absolutely no reason these cards, even in mint or 10 condition, should be worth that much. You'll also notice
Meanwhile rubes like you are used as a sort of cash out to make a final buck off these money laundering tools or someone else trying to get you to hold the bag after they realized they were retarded.
You will not make money. The best cons are the cons where they make (you) think you're going to be the scammer but in reality you were played the entire time by a bigger group. Go read any con artist book. You will quickly learn that you are not the guy who will make out good.
>>
>>97835941
>You'll also notice [ ]
Shit, accidently cut that part.

You ought to look at Perfect Draw, if you haven't. It's PbtA-inspired, but has a whole mechanical system for building decks, customizing cards, etc. Your storyshit accumulates baggage that can weigh you down, but can also be converted into advantages during card games. NPCs don't have decks, just lists of tricks they can do, including employing strategies meant to threaten players and challenge them to break them.

Even if you don't end up moving to just playing that game instead, you may find it to be useful inspiration for yours.

update from this anon; i added handtraps and forbidden droplets into my deck and am seeing much better results now. currently ordering my irl cards but cant decide what deck to pick. the archetypes im potentially interested in are ancient gear, frightfur, myutant, and maybe thunder dragon and exodia (mermail and volcano have also caught my eye but i havent been over their card lists yet). thoughts on these? also, if you want to, pitch me your favourite archetype!

Ancient Gear, Thunder Dragon, Exodia and Mermail? Check out this 49-card collage but anyway I didn't put WATER attribute cards such as Nekroz of Decisive Armor that can be used for Xyz Summoning Rank 10 Monsters alongside Demise Supreme King of Armageddon, Fabled Leviathan, Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Bane and Carly Carmine's Earthbound Immortal in tag duels
>>
>>97843933
Best among those would be Exodia since it has the Millennium engine going for it. The main deck monsters uniformly share the trait of putting themselves from the hand into your backrow, and then summoning themselves either by paying 2k LP or revealing a Millennium Ankh in your hand. The fusion monster is also a pretty cool guy, though his status as a Spellcaster monster means that most people just lazily splash Secret Village of Spellcasters in his deck. I personally dislike Secret Village strats in general since "your opponent cannot do X" really stinks and results in non-games... but you can build the deck how you wish.

As for the others,
>Ancient Gear
You're already on that in MD
>Frightfur
Woefully outdated and doesn't do enough, even in a casual setting. Frightfur Patchwork is at least a decent Polymerization searcher that you can splash into other decks if you decide to pick it up and get tired of it, but needless to say you won't be winning with this.
>Myutant
Similar position as above. It performs better as a standalone deck but doesn't have any generically splashable staples, but also doesn't do quite enough for it to be usable.
>Thunder Dragon
I don't have a good read on these guys anymore. Their floodgate-on-legs in the form of Thunder Dragon Colossus is legal at 3 copies again, and you could probably pair them with other engines to make the deck super playable (Bystial comes to mind since they banish LIGHT/DARKs and Thundra like getting banished)

Exodia > Thunder Dragon >=< Ancient Gear > Myutant > Frightfur

Also, ignore the spammer that replied to you.
>>
>>97843933
Ancient gear is not half bad for locals.
Frightfur, myutant and thunder dragon are bad, none of them have received support in years, and no modern archetype really meshes with them outside of psychic pile and myutant.
Exodia (millennium?) is a stun deck, the complete opposite of ancient gear (going second OTK).
If you enjoy ancient gear you might want to take a look at lunalight, it's another deck that can break boards and then swing for lethal just fine, but unlike AG it does have a lot of going first plays, they're quite degenerate in fact (many decks just do not have counterplays for bagooska + liger dancer), but the best part is that it's actually pretty cheap, its two most expensive cards were heavy poly and impulse, both of which got reprinted in the upcoming rarity collection 5, you'd be spending $30-ish on gold leo and around $25 on the rest of the deck assuming you go for the lowest rarity.

>>97844193
Millennium is not a Stun deck. It plays as a Control/Beatdown deck that happens to run Secret Village. It's Limited in the OCG and banned in MD, so I'd recommend running the deck without it if you pick it up since it'll probably get hit in the TCG some time this decade (and it's surprising that it didn't when they did the anti-floodgate banlist in all honesty).

>>97846050

>>
>>97846050
>Should I come back
Sure I guess. I assume you enjoy the game to some degree already and left due to the covid era and events going dry for a while.
>Rokkets and support cards, can I make a deck?
Yes, they have a ton new support. I'll make it really easy for you too
https://ygoprodeck.com/card-database/?name=((Archetype%3ABorrel)%20OR%20(Archetype%3ARokket))&sort=new&sortorder=desc&num=24&offset=0
Here's all of their archetype (rokket/borrel) cards. Notable card not out yet is breechborrel which drops in early may in BLZD.
Other guy is a spook for no real reason. He says to watch for handtraps as if every other deck doesn't already have to as well.
But he is right about buying singles if you're trying to build a deck. Packs are the worst way to build a deck and are exclusively "for fun". TCGplayer(us)/card market(eu) are still the go to.
You can use the same site as above but the decks section to find deck lists. But know many are waiting for breechborrel because the card is very good.
>>
>>97846050
Oh yeah one last big thing. Some of the support might seem odd because borreload savage is banned in the TCG but not in the OCG. Personally I think it could come back but it's maybe for the best to have it banned.
The card was a part of pile decks that just put out as many negates as possible making for shit games and where the stigma of "yugioh is just a bunch of negates and combo slop" came from. Apollousa, Baronne, Savage, and co. all got banned a while back in the TCG.
>>
>>97846050
If you left roughly 6 years ago then that would mean you left around the time that Master Rule 4 was being phased out, where in MR5 the link zoning restrictions no longer apply. If you didn't like MR4 then you should maybe consider it.

Don't buy cards until you're sure that you want to. Use the free sims like Edopro and Omega to experiment.

Don't experiment until you've actually watched current games play out. Spectate some games with the aforementioned free sims, or watch some YCS coverage on Youtube. We've been getting more archetypal handtraps that enable you to play the game on "turn 0" (turn 1 when you lose the diceroll) and compact engines that have few or no restrictions, that can thus be splashed together with oneanother.

Sky Striker is still Meta Viable.

Basically, the game has become more interactive, and many of the restrictions you'd see from ~2019/2020 have been toned down. Decide whether or not that's something you like or not, watch some replays, then make that decision.
>>
>>97846714
He's warning him because rokket has absolutely no lines under fuwalos and purulia, it's not like white forest ie a combo deck that can stop after summoning 2-3 interactions, it HAS to go full retard every single time because they can't make half boards, they literally do not have a single endboard piece that can be turbo'd out in as few summons as possible.
And it's even worse in TCG where they can't just stop at borrelend and savage (the later is banned, you're giving the opponent at least 5 draws with this board by the way).
>>
>>97850877
You're setting the bar for what's "good" at what can play well into charmies which is basically telling him to pick something in the meta because the bar for being meta is also set by the charmies now.
Again, all of this applies to just about every casual deck (which is was he explicitly asked for too). If he wants his flavor of casual deck to be rokket then I'd say he should go for it.
Even most of yester-years meta decks that we say cannot come back yet would eat shit into charmies.
TLDR you're setting the bar for a good casual deck way too high, at being basically meta, which is unrealistic for A CASUAL DECK.

3 Questions

Why there wasnt more support for the felgrand archtype or it would have it in the future?

Any spoiler or let about a next THE CHRONICLES DECK?

Any recepit for a "pure" lightsworn deck it doesnt have to be meta
>>
>>97851867
>Why there wasnt more support for the felgrand archtype or it would have it in the future?
Felgrand was just a packfiller series (I wouldn't even call it an archetype). And I can say that since people were even buying their structure deck for the staples instead of the actual cards. Once every so often it gets a random card in its series that's tangentially related to the others by lore (Skeletal Dragon and Arkbrave Dragon for instance), but it has never been a fully fledged archetype and you can't really expect them to get the same treatment as a fully fledged archetype.

Maybe some day Konami will get tired of milking DM/GX/5Ds fans and give Felgrand a proper archetype. When that day comes, it'll probably just get absorbed into Dragon Link or Dragon Ruler.

>Any spoiler or let about a next THE CHRONICLES DECK?
No, but you can just look at the manga since those are the ones that get Chronicles decks. Charmers are an exception since they were shilled really hard when the Chronicles stuff was initially being set up.

There's no side deck, because it's for a friendly gaming weekend.
Aside from following the current banlist, the only real 'rule' is that the MAIN deck has to stick to an archetype (of which mine is Millennium). It's fine to have a few random cards, but the vast majority have to actually be part of the archetype or be thematically/aesthetically similar enough. Extra deck is free space.
>>
>>97852481
It looks like you're going for a pretty simple and straightforward gameplan with this one. My only recommendation would be getting rid of Break the Seal in favor of something else (probably some generic staples, if you're allowed to put some in). It's on-theme but a generally awkward fit for a Millennium deck due to the way that their kit works. Ankh will always put the pieces back in your deck, and Obliterate!!! Blaze is going to be putting them on your field. The third effect of Break the Seal is basically never gonna resolve at all, and it does the opposite of what the deck does during the course of operation.
>>
making the deck minimum 60 would fix Genesys
>>
>>97852481
>>97852533
Also, a couple of substitutes for Break the Seal that I can recommend while trying to stay as on-brand as possible
>Sinful Spoils of Subversion - Snake-Eye
It's a reversal of Millennium's S/T zone shenanigans and kinda-sorta fits the Illusion motif. They might try to tell you that you're polluting your deck with too many Snake-Eye cards (I see the contact fusion in the Extra Deck), you just have to politely tell them that the card randomly released 7 months ahead of the rest of the Diabellstar/Sinful Spoils stuff in the OCG for some reason. Therefore it's a standalone, generic staple.

>Eye of Illusion
Very directly plays on the Millennium motif, and is generally a nice card with a nice spread of effect. Only weak point is that its activation conditions require an Illusion or Spellcaster monster, so there's a handful of situations with your deck where it won't be offline when you really need it to be.

There was a third one that I had in mind, but I lost it while typing this up. Probably just some stupid snatch-steal like card. idk.

thank you for the feedback. I would also like to mention that I never played competitively, and I just mostly played with my younger brother. I know the basics, but I have never played with any super competitive decks. Are hand traps like Ash and Maxx C a must for local games? I hope not.
Thank you for telling me about cardmarket, but I still think I might buy a few booster packs here and there because opening them is so fun. I pulled a secret rare today which was great. I also bought inner and outer sleeves, along with other accessories and I plan on going to my local store to play some games this weekend.
Would Super Rejuvenation work in a Rokket deck? I found an old copy.
>>
>>97854509
>Ash Blossom
Yeah. It's a pretty standard card in most decks these days. You can also get a set of it for around 3 bucks since it's been reprinted so much, in so many structure decks.

>Maxx "C"
Maxx "C" isn't TCG legal but the Mulcharmies are Maxx "C" at home (they draw but are conditional, and forces you to shuffle cards back into your deck at the end of the turn). Fuwalos is the best among them since it applies to Deck+Extra Deck, a full set of the card only costs $15 now. There's a good chance that it's here to stay, too.

Fuwa isn't mandatory for every deck, but most decks REALLY don't mind the extra draw power.

If you want an absolute minimum amount of HTs then I'd do like
>3x Ash Blossom
>3x Fuwalos
>1 or 2x of your choice (Droll, Nibiru, Infinite Impermanence/Effect Veiler, etc)
>>
>>97854807
Also, I'm pretty sure that Rokket can also benefit from a Bystial package since it puts more bodies on the field for their Link Monsters. Their archetype banishes LIGHT/DARK monsters from either GY to summon themselves from the hand on quick effect speed. So you can add like, 3 other HTs to that list, but these ones aren't negation-based.

That's another small thing to note. The game's interactions are less negation-based than they were back in the deck. That's not to say that they aren't there, just that a card like Ash Blossom doesn't just kill plays the way it used to back in the day. Most decks these days have redundancy options built into them so that they can play through interruption.
>>
>>97854509
Read up on what staples are before you throw a bunch of them on your deck, but yes basically everything >>97854807 said is correct, ash blossom in particular is an absolute must in 99% of decks because she can counter all the mulcharmy cards. Mind you that they are twice per turn, so an ash chained to a fuwalos/purulia can still be beaten by another mulcharmy chained to her, but that's not really gonna happen often unless the opponent runs 6 of them.

I wanted to as well but the cost is way too high and the price never dropped off to match after it stopped performing.
Lucina $30usd x3=90

This deck is not worth that price for the for-fun pure or "good" fiendsmith.

Most people won't have it until tomorrow (9th) and then about a week later in NA regions (17th) due to some small delays.
Which is hopefully from them fixing the quality issues with the NA UTRs and CRs but I doubt it. Not to mention some of that product can slip through the cracks.
>>
>>97859972
How about you check the OCG before making a decision? Fidraulis alone made the deck good, with the new cards it's guaranteed to be tier 1. You missed your chance because lucina and tinia are absolutely going to double in price, while regina will be a $60 secret from the get go.
Still, if you were balking at the lucina playset, then you probably weren't going to buy fidraulis at all, there's no way it'll cost less than $150.
>>
>>97860545
A massive difference is that we don't have baronne in the TCG so that's going to hurt the playability.
I'd also suspect that ceaser or something like fiendsmith engine is getting hit but that's only speculation.
>You missed your chance
The prices I gave were what you can buy them for right now...
The lowest lucina got was $20 in late feb, tinia at $3 early march, and medius is a bit harder to say but lets assume you got him around the time you were buying elfnote cards in early feb with the release of BPRO where he was about $20-25.
I guess you could have saved maybe $40.
Also if we're looking at it solely on money value, taking what you say at face value for prices and such, for almost the same price you can buy kewl tune which is objectively doing better. Sure KT will have to buy new cards too but I doubt it's going to be a $60 secret. Both decks will be buying fidraulis so that's a wash. So why would I buy elfnote if I wanted something to play in a meta sense? I'd just be buying the worse deck.
One thing I could see is it outliving KT simply because elfnote is getting it's cards much later and KT could see hits before elfnote even gets the support shown today. But that also goes for stuff like ceaser, which if it dies so does elfnote.
>$150 fidraulis
I doubt it's going to be that high except for presale. We haven't seen staples that high since like pot of prosp.

>>
>>97862063
>Is this normal?
Technically yes it can happen rarely. The following is all how they've been doing it for many years now.
How card packs are made is by cutting up large sheets that have a bunch of cards printed on them. The commons are cut and packed in the order on these sheets while the [foil] slot card has an extra step of randomization and is packed in with the lot of commons. And then those packs have a sort of weighted randomization and boxed. So you can run into packs with the same common cut patterns but the foil slot is different. Rarely you can also get the same foil card with them too.
TLDR cards are produced in a lot but predictable patterns on sheets like cards laid out as ABCD, EFGH, IJKL, repeat. A random lot is put in a pack and then a random foil is put in with that lot. So you'll have packs like ABCD+X, ABCD+Y, ABCD+Z. And those packs are put into boxes with weighted chances. By chance you came across two packs laid out the same.

At this point, edison. It just has more going on where GOAT is kind of solved now with Chaos being determined to be the best deck. It also hits the sweet spot many are looking for in retro yugioh with some combo play but very few are more than a minute. If you want to play old ygo I think edison is more worth your time if you actually enjoy ygo, whereas GOAT is better if for people pretending they know ygo and want to LARP.
>>
>>97863799
the only difference is that edison does 5ds cards right? is droll and lock bird legal?
>>

Droll came out Nov. 2010 and Edison is April 2010 so no.
Here's a search tool and website for just about everything you could want to know about edison.
https://www.edisonformat.com/card-pool.html
It's an embed of ygoprodeck and it sometimes bugs out because of that, visiting the proper site linked on the page is better.
You can also find the banlist on the edison site under rules->banlist.

I don't want to doompost but I'm kinda worriend about BLZD
We finally got a good and cheap format where you had competitive decks for cheap and the top of the meta wasn't all that expensive
It seems like blzd meta will be prohibitively expensive. Kewl tune is already expensive and now with harmonia and the support it could go for $500+, anything medius related will cost an arm and a leg and elfnotes could also go for $500+ (lucina alone is like 40$)
I just hope at least one of the new archetypes gets the enneacraft treatment (all bulk) so it's cheap
>>
Besides the Fallen & Virtuous package (don't want to spend that much), what should I add to the Mitsurugi Legendary Deck to optimize it?
>>
>>97868453
>don't want to spend that much
Then the deck is pretty much complete as it is but offers a lot of experimentation
Galant granite to search nibiru is pretty good
You can look for generic stuff that wasn't included like fuwa, purulia, shifter, droll, s.Poly
Generic ritual or reptile stuff I guess but it's not that good

FYI the best upgrade is 3x dominus impulse but it's like $15 (it will get a reprint soon but I dont think it'll go down that much)

That one xyz between ding and vampire is a really funny card by the way, it can tribute as many monsters as you want from your hand and field to pop that many cards without targeting, the mitsu's all trigger when you do that so it's a handy way to get rid of both backrow (with heliopolis) and monsters (with murakumo when he comes back) before swinging, all while plusing up the ass. And if anything survived because it can't be destroyed by card effects, you can just search wousu and tribute the thing.

While we do get some common endboards, the especially egregious part of these three was how easily accessible they were if the deck even brushed against one of their things. Fiendsmith was very generic of an engine, but at the same time, you did need to run an engine of many cards to get it's negates while those three functionally had zero deckbuilding cost. Doubly so with how early they could be made.
>>
>>97875300
well that's kind of hard to predict

ocg has habakiri at 3, and both prayers and pre-preparation at 1
md has habakiri at 2, prayers at 1 and pre-preparation at 3
tcg currently has habakiri at 1, and both prayers and pre-preparation at 3

jewart and jewrome absolutely despise when the goyim can play meta decks on the cheap, so i would almost guarantee a prayers and engage limit by the next banlist, HOWEVER they also like money way more than punishing goycattle, and they still haven't sold end of the world ruler and cyberse contract witch in this side of the world, so mitsurugi is probably safe for the rest of the year

either way, mitsurugi is literally worth pennies so long as you don't go for dominus impulse, and you can toss literally any other handtrap in its place
>>
>>97875300
I think Mitsurugi and Striker will be safe on this next list if you are thinking of grabbing the Legendary Modern Decks. I think they plan on treating that and Rarity Collection 5 as a big one-two punch for getting people into the game as people get their core decks from the Structures and then their additional staples or blinging out with Alt!Arts with the second. I expect July, maybe June, would be when those things come under threat of being hit and we're gonna get a new list before then.

Entirely different kind of game.

>>
>>97882488
You're talking about the Channelers, which are recent cards. They are all good in mono-attribute decks that don't give a shit about the fact that you're attribute-locked. The problem is that Konami insists on shipping them as a package deal when each of the cards in their archetype is tailored towards working with (or countering) a singular attribute.

>to get a mon with 1850 damage
Also, that only applies to Aussa. Each of them have different restrictions on them, and Aussa's is probably the worst among them.

>You can discard this card and 1 other <ATTRIBUTE> monster; add 1 <ATTRIBUTE> monster from your Deck to your hand with
>(FIRE) higher ATK than the other discarded monster
>(WATER) equal or higher Level than the other discarded monster
>(EARTH) 1850 or less ATK
>(WIND) 1500 or less DEF

Aussa and Wynn generally have weaker searches because they currently don't have a ton of good targets, while Eria is usable in WATER Xyz and Synchro decks (Sharks/Armored Xyz and Atlantean respectively) and FIRE monsters in general are blessed with an abundance of low-atk monsters (which basically means she can search damn near any FIRE monster in the game, as long as it doesn't have 0atk)
>>
>>97883631
Say for instance that we lived in an alternate universe, where either Bonfire was banned or never printed, and Snake-Eye didn't have its entire kit kneecapped. Hiita would be able to search for every card in their archetype, as long as the other monster you're discarding isn't Flamberge Dragon. This would also apply after Fiendsmith Snake-Eye since the activation lock only applies after you use Hiita's search, and typically you'd do FS stuff first anyway so that you could get Desirae on the field. The card would still play second fiddle to to Original Sinful Spoils, but that's besides the point.

Channelers are good searchers in mono-attribute decks. They're ass in Charmer piles because Charmer piles are ass, unless you play them as Spellcaster Soup builds (where they still suck ass, but significantly less).
>>
>>97882488
I assume you mean the flip charmers and basically every one of the sub archetypes except the channelers. Yeah it's shocking how they refused to make good new versions of them that actually do something.
But I guess the target audience is not players but rather secondaries, like yourself, that don't care to play and just want these bad cards as a sort of merch. Nothing against you, just commenting that what it seems like konami wanted the product to be.

Sex aside, what is the appeal of witchcrafters post support? Verre's wide negate still or do they have something else going on?
The countertrap is searchable by only one card (assuming it's released alongside all of this support).
I guess it supports the fusion angle they started before but does that really matter?
>>
>>97882488
The Charmers *desperately* need to have a retrained main deck version that has internal synergy of some kind.

Just eyeballing something:
>Flip: you can take control of 1 <attribute> monster your opponent controls
>If this card is sent from the field to the GY: you can special summon 1 "Charmer" monster from your deck in face-up or face-down defense position, and if you do, you cannot special summon monsters with that attribute from your hand or main deck for the rest of this turn.
>This card is always treated as <original Charmer name>
This doesn't feel unimaginably strong (you can get up to 6 material from deck but you are locked out of it completely if you do) but it is league's better than what they currently got.
>>
>>97886997
You can get their most mediocre endboard of Verre/2Haine as long as you have any spellcaster and Maid Genni in your hand.

Any Witchcrafter NS, Maid Genni effect summoning herself, Genni effect banishing herself and summoning Schmietta, Schmietta effect summoning Maid Verre. Maid Verre effect adding Celebration. If you were working with in-house monsters you can summon Terracottan with the Witchcrafter NS to go into Vice Madame to set up Madame Verre so you can go into Nu-Rilliona with Celebration (this also puts another monster on your field thanks to VM), then have witches burst onto the field with Rilliona's effect.

If Walpurgis is online, most of this is effectively free since Walpurgis lets you dump for cost (not OPT) instead of discarding spells. Which is to say that if Walpurgis is online, you get to do all of this on top of whatever other Spellcaster bullshit you're doing, and you don't get fusion-locked until Rilliona hits the field.

I've seen someone on /dng/ say that the deck has finally attained human rights in that it can run 15 cards of non-engine now. And it's not really incorrect.

>the countertrap is searchable by only one card
Schmietta, Lacrima of Light, and Walpurgis put it in the GY (walpurgis for free) while VM, Potterie, and Terracottan recover it.
>>
>>97887128
Also, their last support wave gave them really good redundancy through Lacrima of Light, since it lets you put a monster on the field in the event that you get Ash'd and is dupeable off of Genni's effect, on top of the Maid witchcrafters and Magistus support that acts as generic Spellcaster support.

Something to consider about Terracottan is that it can serve as an in-house substitute for Cartesia's effect while not only giving you an extra ED slot, but also freeing up all the main deck slots that you're giving up for Cartesia. And Terracottan is a 1of since their kit supports putting her in your hand or on the field pretty easily.

Madame Verre is a Fusion Deployment target now. This is something that people don't talk about enough because they don't like being Fusion-locked, but she is a Fusion Deployment target now. Make of that what you will.

>Maid Verre effect adding Celebration
I haven't had the time to lab this out. Threw together a rudimentary deck and it's far more lucrative to search Walpurgis instead of Celebration.

This feels correct in regards to the archetypal cards to run after a little testing. Omega doesn't have the art for it yet, so that's 1 Walpurgis, 2 Celebration, 1 Rilliona in the ED. You can optionally run the Counter Trap and Potterie if you want.

>NS any witch
>Special Summon Maid Genni from the hand (use Creation to put her in your hand if she isn't there already)
>Genni effect summoning Maid Verre
>Verre searches Walpurgis
>Activate Walpurgis. NS effect to summon Schmietta (dump Bystreet for cost) into Terracottan (dump Celebration for cost)
>Terracottan effect, Fusion Summoning VM
>Schmietta effect dumping Holiday, VM effect summoning Pittore
>Pittore effect summoning Madame Verre, VM effect recovering Celebration. Use Pittore's effect if possible.
>Celebration effect summoning Rilliona, shuffling Madame Verre, Schmietta, and Pittore
>Rilliona effect summoning Haine, Schmietta, and Genni

The Rilliona burst can be saved until the end of the turn, depending on what you're running. I'd even recommend that, in case of Nib.

>1 Schmietta 2 Pittore
This might seem odd going off of older lists, but Schmietta's importance was already reduced when Lacrima of Light was released. If you're feeling bold, you can cut her altogether in favor of getting Potterie for recovery, but I don't think that's safe

Barring all of this, you can go for a more standard VM route and still get 2haine 1verre on the field pretty trivially. Even moreso thanks to Terracottan

SORRY FOR THE WALLS OF TEXT. TL;DR, they're still extremely non-linear in nature (this is a good thing) and have enough redundancy baked into them that you can always come out with something now. Play around the lock and you can litter your field with bodies for link plays.

Sup frens, I am a new player who play a basic BEWD Invoked deck right now. I kinda like my BEWD Invoked deck and I will soon change Invoked with Primite Engine, since they are cheap reprints now. I started going to some locals (started game about 1 month ago) and I'm thinking of building a new deck. In my local there is a lot of Branded and Dracotail players and it's a fairly competitive local.

I played quite a bit of Exosisters in MDPro and I really like the gameplay, it's relatively easy to pilot and cards are cool too. But in MDPro I only play against bot for testing, so I don't know how it really plays against good players, and if it's worth it. Cards are kinda cheap too, for like 70 bucks I can have a good and full Exosister deck (without cards like impulse, fallen and virtous and forbidden crown obv, too expansive for me). I already have Fuwalos and others staple

So my question is, is it worth it in a competitive local ? I know that it topped recently, but desu I am really far from their level and don't know if It will work for me

Thanks frens
>>
>>97890818
No, exosisters are shit.
>>
>>97890863
Why ? They are really not viable ?
>>
>>97890904
NTA but no, they are not viable. Exosister itself is a really outdated deck that was never really competitive above Rogue-tier representation, and the times that it saw that level of representation was typically because it hard-countered something in the meta (and D.Shifter was legal at 3 copies in the case of its Tearlaments meta rep).

If it's a competitive locals then you're dealing with decks that can set up far more interactions than Exosister can manage and some decks that are able to kickstart their engines on turn 0. You mentioned Branded and Dracotail, where Branded/Dracotail can play on turn 0 and prevent you from setting up wholesale. Then you've got stuff like Mitsurugi (which was reprinted in the Legendary Modern Decks set) that can't play on turn 0, but can either bait out all of your negates or nuke your board while setting up negation before going into whatever they're actually running.

The best you could hope to do with them if you have your heart set on running Exosister is running them alongside an aggressive Rank 4 engine. IE, run it with Ryzeal and hope that Exosister doesn't drag down Ryzeal's engine too much. Onomat could also work, but at that point you need to ask yourself why you don't just run Onomat Ryzeal instead (a cursory search brought up an $80 build while your budget for Exos is $70).

Oh okay, thanks for the answer :/

It's kinda sad because I really like the gameplay and responding to enemy GY effect/movements. I'll look into Onomat and Ryzeal then

Sucks that my 2 favorite archetypes (dinomorphia and exosister) are shit ;_;
>>
>>97890818
While I think it's a bit too harsh to call them shit like the other anon I think the more accurate way to put it is that it doesn't have a favorable matchup into most of the meta at present to be rogue and it doesn't have the chops to be T2 or T1.
To be meta it means to be "unfair" in a way that matters to many other decks in the format. This can be by shutting down the opponent with interaction or floodgates, having a far better resource game, being very resilient to interaction, or some combination of those that let a deck stand above others.
Exos have a GY hate theme about them and can shut down the GY as their unfair thing, but if most decks in the format don't plan to interact with the GY then that competitive advantage is moot. Which is the case right now.
Exos are a good (read: competent) deck but it's not meta level good assuming you want to be a part of the meta because it doesn't interact with the current meta decks in a way that matters.
>I mostly play against bots so I don't know how it plays against players
I'm just going to be a straightforward as possible here. Then why aren't you queuing against people if you want to learn how it plays against people? I feel like this is a very obvious solution.
YGOomega (client in the OP, yes it uses discord front end as an "account", no it does matter nor has anyone had a problem with that being the login for years now) has a good ranked playerbase for TCG format and you could try that for real hyman testing.
The UI might take a moment to get used to if you've exclusively played MDpro so play a few test games in test-hand to get a feel first.
>>
>>97891302
Being real about it for the moment, the meta is a very narrow slice of archetypes in the game and most of them are new because of 3 factors: rotation of interest, card legality, and widespread familiarity. So the majority of decks are not going to be meta and you kind of just have to come to terms with that.
I've got a bunch of these pet decks that won't ever be meta but still enjoy and I just kind of accepted that I'll be in the middle or lower places at locals if I bring them to something competitive.
>sucks that my favorite archetypes are shit
One big issue that is not within our control is that konami has not made a place to play these casual decks or even set up any sort of structure to stratify this massive casual block of decks. IE something like poker knights slifer and purrely are both considered casual at this point but one of those is miles better than the other.
MTG commander is trying to do something about this problem but is at odds with an extremely retarded playerbase and their own equally incompetent company.
>>
>>97890818
It's not too strong in standard meta, but it is often considered the gatekeeper deck in Genesys. As in, it's not always topping tournaments, but if you want to top a tournament you Will be facing it and your deck has to be better than it.

Like this deck won one of the Proto-YCSes, and the main difference between the old points list and the current one's values is in the staples being run.

Exosisters does have access to a few unfair things in the form of Shifter, Kali Yuga, and Rainbow Magician. They just aren't very consistent. Shifter is an auto-win vs 95% of decks, but is at 1. Magnifica into Kali Yuga is funny, but it turns your deck into a worse Raidraptors which is already fragile as fuck. Rainbow Magician isn't bad, but requires you to open 7th tachyon + one of Martha, Sakitama, or Pax and for the opponent to have no interaction.

Go for Legendary Modern Decks. People have made playable decks out if a single one but 2 gets you a decent Mitsurugi deck and near complete meta Sky Striker list. X-Saber is a bit weaker, but gives you some good staples and can make a third deck for the Genesys alt!format.

Only hiccup is that if you are outside NA, you have to wait a bit. Some distributors fucked up some of the decks outside NA with stuff like 4 copies of a card when only 3 can be legally played (replacing another in the process) and they had to do a new run to fix them.
>>
>>97892369
To clear things up a bit. The triple SD thing is more like buying a deck building toolkit for that archetype as the decks are usually singleton, so if you buy 3 of them you'll have a playset of each card to work with then. A singleton deck is bad on face because it will have consistency issues, so you remove some of the bad cards and add more copies of the ones you do want. So relatively speaking in a vacuum that sculpted deck is better than stock. Then from there you can evaluate that deck against others.
The unfortunate matter is that each of those even at their best 3x build are still lacking.
If you want a short explanation on why
>realm of light
A deck from over a decade ago, and got rewaved for some reason.
>Legend of the CBs
A lot of moving parts for no actual payoff. It's a fan-favorite pet deck and was made to cash in on it I guess.
>Spirit charmers
There's two of them, one old and the new one is chronicles. The spirit charmers are giga bad but another fan favorite and got a recent moe-SOL-do-nothing short anime. The deck is basically just merch. But ot does contain the Horus archetype in it, so you can in theory take out all the charmer cards and make something out of that. The older one is super giga bad and should be avoided.

As the other person said, the legendary modern decks are the best bang for your buck.

I'd be happy to give you some recommendations and build a deck for you if you don't mind buying your own singles. The first question I have is what are you looking to do with it? Like are you just looking to have some cards to fuck around with on your own/with some friends or start trying to go to locals?

It is a very "modern Konami" deck
>What if we made this archetype that has a unique gimmick
>Next, let's give it an effect that lets it auto-win against other decks (level modulation vs synchro/xyz decks)
>And last but not least... let's give it a card that lets them do it on turn 0!
>>

>>97893171
IMO the reason kewl tune is so strong it's because the deck synergy with handtraps (similar to dracotail), handtraps are inherently useful and now they have even more uses as material
It doesn't help that the deck "unfair" gimmick is hand/top deck/extra deck knowledge is already crazy strong by itself + turn 0 powercreep

NOW
>(1) Reveal 1 Ritual Spell in your hand or Deck and add 1 monster [that mentions] it from your Deck to your hand.
So the monster has to mention the spell rather than it being like pre prep where the spell mentions the monster.

I doubt it. I know the OCG put it to 1 in January but OCG generally loves their consistency hits over anything else.

How does Apprentice Illusion Magician's discard effect work with Diffusion Wave-Motion? Like if my opponent has three monsters out, do I get the 2000 atk boost while hitting just one of them, or does it apply against all three monsters?
>>
>>97895468
Each attack from Diffusion Wave Motion is a separate attack and Apprentice Illusion Magician's effect only applies to a singular damage calc.
>>
>>97895535
Awesome, thanks. I was pretty sure that's how it worked, but wanted to check.
>>
>>97891930
I tried to make it work too, but skeletal soldier's "also, you cannot Special Summon during the turn you activate either of this card's effects, except Insect, Plant, or Reptile monsters" means you either stick to RIP end board pieces, or you give up on what is pretty much the best ragnaraika card.

And that's not the only issue, evil seed is not searchable nor you can bridge to it with mitsurugi (plant link can do it with jasmine), but you can alleviate this issue somewhat by maxing out seed and bloom, and also running as many lonefire blossom as you want. The issue with this however is that you always want aramasa to take the normal summon (it can also be manju/lamia, depends on how much of an oldfag/monstergirl fucker you are), because it leads to the 3 ritual snakes, 3 level 4 bodies and either purification or another copy of prayers. Evil seed only leads to stag sovereign/chain coils and hunting dance.
Another issue ragnaraika has, is that in order to special summon evil seed, you need a discard. And it has to be a RIP card, it can't just be a random handtrap. If you start with bloom instead, you will need TWO discards.

Mind you, i'm not saying that ragnaraika is bad, it's actually a good engine in traptrix because that deck tends to die if their normal summon gets negated, so tossing a random traptrix to special summon seed and get 2 extra interactions out of it is a fair trade. It's also a great starter in plant link, a 60 card pile that has been fine tuned to get the most out of DRNM and set up a nearly unbreakable board. Mitsurugi has better things to do with all the bodies it shits out.

>>
>>97897629
I would start by giving erratas to the cards we already have.
>evil seed
Can also be special summoned by banishing a RIP from grave. It's literally a skull blooming out of the ground, so why did they give this summoning condition to the turtle instead?
>bloom
Doesn't need a discard to search. All the RIP archetypes besides mitsurugi already go minus on literally all their plays, why tax them even harder when ragnaraika was literally made to support them?
If this sounds too broken, then both effects should be OPT, not mutually exclusive.
I genuinely don't know what the fuck they were thinking with this card.
>wisteria
Instead of banishing two of your RIP to banish two cards from the opponent's grave, it should banish one from their field.
>hunting dance
Both effects can be activated the same turn, that way you get the pop(s) and then another pop when your monsters go down by battle or card effects.
>skeletal soldier
Change its lock to "for the rest of this turn after this card resolves".
>chain coils
Stops the opponent from adding cards to hand except by drawing them, but unlike colossus she only locks them out of searching AFTER they search once, and this can only be done during the main phase so quickplays like WANTED will go through regardless (unless the opponent is an idiot and doesn't use them in the standby).
Again, if this is too much, then her original effect should be active as soon as she hits the field.
>stag sovereign
Very minor change, his pop is now UP TO 2, not exactly 2.
>>
>>97901935
Oh and my CaCs would be something like this:
>ragnaraika withered sunflower
>FIRE, plant, level 2, 500 ATK/0 DEF
>can be special summoned from hand by sending a ragnaraika monster from deck to GY (the idea is foolishing wicked butterfly to then search evil seed and banish her with its errata'd effect, which triggers her draw effect)
>when summoned she places a ragnaraika spell/trap face up on the field (errata'd bloom, to search evil seed)
>can summon a banished RIP monster by banishing herself

>ragnaraika sunlight empress
>LIGHT, plant, link-4, arrows pointing to the cardinal directions
>(quick effect) can negate up to 4 monster cards/effects per turn by tributing RIP cards she points to, can negate 1 spell card/effect by shuffling back a face up spell you control, can negate a trap card/effect by shuffling back a banished trap
>has to be face up on the field for the effect to resolve
>has the same summoning condition as the other links
Yeah i know, it's a basic bitch omni negate, but ragnaraika sucks hard, it needs it. And it's a CaC anyway, if it's not broken then what's the point?

I had this idea for an archetype; a ritual based archetype that ritual summon your monsters by tributing your opponent's monsters as a gimmick. I think it will be extremly powerful and fun to play this kind of archetype. Not even towers will be spare (because of pic related's effect). I tried to ask chatGPT to make me some cards but it was not what I expected and was disappointed. wdyt? I'd like to hear your opinion on it, I'm happy to share this idea with you!

No boomer talk of the new final 2 TOON support?
Dark-Eyes Illusionist No-Face

Level 4 DARK Illusion/Effect

0 ATK/0 DEF

You can discard this card; activate 1 of the following effects (but you can only use each effect of "Dark-Eyes Illusionist No-Face" once per turn):
● Place 1 "Mind Scan" from your hand or Deck face-up on your field.
● Add 1 monster that mentions "Toon World" from your GY to your hand, except "Dark-Eyes Illusionist No-Face", then you can Special Summon it, ignoring its Summoning conditions.
If this card battles a monster, neither can be destroyed by that battle.

----

Mind Scan

Continuous Trap

While a "Toon" card is in your field or GY, your opponent must play with their hand revealed and you may check your opponent's Set cards at any time. If you have a Toon Monster or "Toon" Spell in your field or GY: You can declare the name of 1 card whose effect was not activated this Chain; while you control this face-up card, negate the activated effects of cards with the same original name as the declared card until the end of this turn. You can only use this effect of "Mind Scan" once per turn.

nice repost!
>>
>>97904386
>Not even towers will be spare(d)
Soul Exchange tributes the monsters after the effect resolves while every Ritual Summon tributes on effect resolution. The former gets around towers because they're not being tributed by effect, while the latter does not.

Also, you're describing Mitsurugi.
>eurgh...???? mitsurugi doesn't tribute your opponent's monsters!
Sacred Boundry makes them tribute up to 4 of their monsters and Wousu is an in-archetype kaiju. You could also make an argument that Tempest and Murakumo make them tribute monsters in a more abstract manner.

Monarchs are not a ritual archetype, they are able to tribute an opponent's towers because they are doing normal Tribute summons, not Ritual summons

Ritual summons use a Ritual spell card and summon the monster as part of the effect, so you wouldn't be able to use a Towers for it, unless you did it in a janky way like Nouvelles' cards do

There are already cards that can tribute the opponent's monsters, that's Nouvelles' gimmick, but it's an effect that ends up needing to have significant restrictions put in place, because an entire archetype that yoink your shit is not super fun to play against.
>>
>>97904762
thanks. I get it now. yeah Its not very fun to play against. but maybe at least have some tribute summon ritual spell that 1 monster opp controls. would be a cool removal archetype. anyway it wasn't that good idea in the first place
>>
>>97904386
It's not a ritual archetype, but rikka can tribute your shit as cost, their field spell lets them tribute two of your monsters in fact.
>>
>>97904851
>>97904540
yeah nevermind my archetype idea, I just re read nouvelles, and it does what I was thinking
>>
>>97904951
It doesn't get around towers because like Gishki Nekromirror, it tributes by effect and not as a cost. It gets around most forms of protection since an extremely small number of cards have (or provide) tribute immunity, but not towers

>>97904567
>so soul exchange doesn't work?
That card gets around towers because the tribute occurs immediately after the effect resolves, thus it isn't treated as a card effect. The tribute doesn't occur as the card is resolving, but immediately after that particular effect resolves on the chain.

>Crush Card Virus
Tributes as cost. Not mentioned but it's the easiest example that comes to mind. EEV can work if you want something that doesn't suck ass like the ultra-cucked post-errata Crush Card Virus.

>Nouvelles effect/Most Ritual Spells
They occur as the effect is resolving, as part of the effect

>Spell Card "Soul Exchange"
That happens after the effect resolves as the chain is resolving. This isn't treated as an effect, it happens after the effect. Thus effect protection does not apply.
>>
>>97905106
thanks, I'll keep it. so the idea I had in mind better be ON resolution of the effect card to ritual summon

Yes. The standard for Ritual Spells is that any tributing occurs at resolution of the effect. If the tribute occurred on-cost, you could tribute the ritual monster to summon itself from the GY with Ritual Spells/Effects that let you summon from the GY. Gishki Necromirror doesn't work on an effect-immune monster (towers) for the same reason that Super Polymerization wouldn't-- they both occur at effect resolution, so an effect-immune monster ignores it.

One thing that you could do is
>Activate 1 of the following effects (but you can only use each effect of "Archetypal Ritual Quick Effect" once per turn).
● Ritual Summon 1 "Archetypal" Ritual Monster from your Deck or banishment, by tributing monsters from your hand or field whose total levels exactly equal the level of the Ritual Monster you Ritual Summon
● Tribute 2 monsters with levels (1 from each field); Special Summon 1 "Archetypal" Ritual Monster from your hand or GY, whose level equals or exceeds the level those monsters had on the field (this is treated as a Ritual Summon).

The 2nd effect would enable you to get past towers since it occurs on-cost. That would also allow you to dodge effects since you tribute your ritual monster that's already on the field, followed by summoning it from the GY.
>>
>>97905337
Also, you wouldn't necessarily need to use levels. Drytron for instance uses ATK instead of levels, you could use just about any stat you want to since ritual summons occur on effect resolution.

>Ritual Summon 1 Ritual Monster, by tributing 2 monsters with different Attributes. When summoned this way, you can also tribute 1 monster your opponent controls.
That'd be perfectly valid. It wouldn't get around towers, but like I mentioned previously, it'd get around most forms of protection. Thing is that it's non-standard, so it'd either be the case that it wouldn't be printed, or that the summon would be restrictive in nature (by archetype/type/attribute/etc).
